The clerks at the courthouse treated customers rudely when I was there. They tried to say one lady…read morewas someone that had a warrant and she wouldn't do anything until it was checked. While being checked the ladies kept saying things to the person they were waiting on that was upsetting her. Then when she and the person she was with was trying to find out what was going on they were told to be quiet because of court. They did as requested. Then the clerk on the right contacted an officer and told him they wouldn't be quiet. Others all around were talking so loud nothing could be heard. But the lady only pointed out the two in front. The only ones being quiet. The treatment was rude, unprofessional and does nothing to help how others see our city.

Upon arrival, Officer Norman discussed his methods of community policing and how it's impacted NLR and other communities nation-wide! He also introduced us to a couple of the officers he works with at the substation. The hubs and I are inspired by his efforts and look forward to supporting the cause now that we're local! If you get the chance, check out his videos on social media and I'm sure you'll be impacted also! Officer Norman of NLR is a true American hero!

Johnson County Courthouse

The Johnson County Courthouse in Claaksville is a three-story masonry edifice constructed of brick…read moreand rusticated concrete blocks. It features an Italian Classical Revival front with a seven-bay projecting portion. Ground-floor windows and entrances are situated in round-arch openings, whereas upper-level windows are rectangular sash, arranged in bays articulated by pilasters. It was erected during the Great Depression with Federal Emergency Administration funds and is the county's third courthouse. The Johnson County Courthouse at the time was about sixty years old and the county's residents recognized a chance to secure a new courthouse. The new courthouse was named Project 7431 by the PWA. Haralson & Nelson, an architectural firm in Fort Smith (Sebastian County), developed blueprints on November 30, 1934, and contractors Lineburger & Feaser finished the building in 1935. The finished building was praised as one of the most impressive courthouses in the state, with many seeing it as a symbol of local pride. Since its construction in the 1930s, the interior has remained mostly intact. Polished granite floors in halls and stairways, as well as paneled oak doors, are common in New Deal-funded constructions. The courtroom's walls are adorned with pilasters, while the ceilings have moldings made of similarly stained wood. It is well worth a visit if you're in Clarksville!
