The staff has this typical and charming Italian accent, since the waiters are from Italy. The food is simply gorgeous, the pizzas are huge - I mean really huge - and the pasta tastes great as well and by the way so tastes the risotto and the insalata mista, the mixed salad. All is very nicely decorated dishes are fancy to look at as well as delicious in taste. Just to mention it again the pizza is not just great but huge and you easily need to put something into the doggy bag for taking home with you. I had a delicious Salami Pizza and my company had a Pizza Hawaii, as well as a hot-salami pizza called Salsiccia Piccante, and a Rucola Pizza which all came in huge sizes and nicely arranged. Oh, and just to mention it, the pizzas are super-thin and the exact opposite of a Chicago-style pizza, if you are searching for that kind of food. Here at L'Osteria the pizzas are the Napoli-style, the southern Italian pizza, which are super-thin. The interior of the restaurant comes with all sorts of arts and decoration on the wall, in this typical fancy Italian style, as Italians seem to be natural-born taste experts. Here at L'Osteria they even have an Italian-German course, which activates automatically as soon as somebody enters the restrooms. I only can say something about the language course on the men's room, what happens on the ladies' room I don't know. But I guess, the language course lessons are similar, but with exchanged roles and storylines. From Graz with Love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann

With a large outdoor patio, and an inside divided in the middle by two dining rooms, we felt lucky to get a table without a wait. It wasn't on the prettier side, but was in full view of the kitchen. Not exactly exciting, but it did keep me entertained throughout the meal, as I marveled at the breakneck speed with which the pizza maker threw the dough in the air and turned out pizzas non-stop. And the pizzas were very good! We shared a pizza and a pasta dish, and ate more food than we should have. L'Osteria definitely deserves the huge crowds. The food is fresh and tasty, the prices reasonable, and the service, while not particularly quick, was decent enough. You can't go wrong here.

We made a reservation to ensure a table outside and were seated right away. Service was fast and friendly. The outdoor ambience of the courtyard was outstanding. The pizza however was just ok. I think it wasn't cooked long enough or hot enough. The very thin crust was soggy and overwhelmed by the toppings. Too bad because what we did eat tasted great. May have been an off day.

This place is an authentic Italian-run restaurant and even the waiters are often Italians as well. Located in the center of Graz, right in the UNESCO-Old Town on a square next to a little church, the Franziskanerkirche, devoted to Saint Francis, this place provides great food. The staff is friendly and the feel is like in a restaurant on a square in one of the many Italian small towns. Graz by the way feels very Italian and Adriatic people say. Our Pizza and Pasta was delicious as always, since here at the Don Camillo you get true Italian food with Italian ingredients and recipes made by Italians as I already mentioned. I took the Pizza Milano with delicious salami and my company took Spaghetti Bolognese. Both dishes are very delicious. The patio on the square is very nice to sit at and if the weather makes it a necessity the Don Camillo is also very nice and authentic Italian inside. So the interior and the whole place feels like a Italian trattoria. From Graz with love! Dr. Dr. Immanuel Fruhmann

It was an interesting experience at this very popular restaurant…read more The place was located at the heart of the town, alongside many fine restaurants. We were warmly greeted at seating. Drinks and salad came shortly after ordering. Then, it took approximately 45 minutes for the lasagna and pizza to arrive. Pizza tasted great. The lasagna, on the other hand, was so tough that I couldn't cut through it with a knife. I discussed with my partner-in-crime, and decided to let the waiter know, politely, that this was too hard to chew. The waiter apologized and took the plate back. Sometime later, a handsome looking waiter came back with the same plate. His opening question was, "so, they told me you didn't want to pay for this?" We were very embarrassed. I replied, "that's not the case. We have no problem paying for it. It's just very hard to eat a lasagna this tough." The comeback of this gentleman was that, well, this is how we prepare traditional lasagna and our customers like it this way. At that point we were not going to budge. Fine, just leave it here and we will eat it... And of course we didn't. We would have to load ourselves with Pepto-Bismol afterwards if you couldn't even cut the food with knife. As I already lost my mood to continue eating, we were offered free gelato as compliments. The lasagna stayed on the bill even though it was barely touched when the waiter took it back. I wonder how the chef felt after he saw it. Did he get embarrassed or did he even care? I remembered a scene from the movie "Chef" by Jon Favreau, where the father pulled the son aside after the kid said what the big deal was if he accidentally served burnt Sandwich to customers. The Dad told him, this is what I do, and I take it very seriously. A chef or a restaurant builds reputation around every dish they hand out to customers. If one has tremendous pride in what he or she does, handing out mistake is just not acceptable. We didn't want to be the "rude American tourists" to fight this on a pleasant night on foreign soil. But we've had lasagnas countless times at other fine Italian restaurants. We know what it should taste like. I'm still giving three stars because all staff were nice and pleasant except that one waiter who took it upon himself to defend the mistake. All other items were fine too. I do believe that people learn from mistakes and improve.
