I have been a member of Consumers since 1982. I have moved a ways away but refuse to leave my credit union. They are courteous even when faced with people that are not being very lovable. Thinking about leaving state however, will remain a Consumers member. read more

I've always used consumers. It was my first bank, first credit card. Helped build my credit so much. The staff was always so nice and the building itself is always clean. But since Covid I feel like I've had problems with the online and getting through to people on the phone. I always had to go in to get information. I work nights and make deposits using the ATM. They were under construction for a few days and I noticed they were open and it kept rejecting my deposit. It was just annoying. Ever since the new system in the drive thru I've had nothing but problems. read more

This place is a joke! For months I'll make a payment and the system loses it. I call and they can't find them. I give the transaction number then magically it appears. The rep told me I would get a late fee since the system hadn't posted the payment. I was told to refinance with them so they ran credit. I called for months and no one answered or got back to me. 3 months later I get a denial in the mail. read more

The ATM was broken so I went inside to pull out cash. There was one person at the desk another person behind the desk doing absolutely nothing, and then two guys standing at the front greeting people. After I waited a very long time, I decided to leave and go somewhere else and pay an ATM fee at a different bank. As I walked out the two guys at the desk said, thanks for coming in. Really? One of you couldn't get away from the front desk or tell the other guy standing around to help customers that are waiting! read more

Again having issues at Consumers. Over the last couple months I have been trying to get the taxes paid on the plates for my vehicle. My wife and I have paid the taxes but Consumers never paid the state taxes for us after receiving the payment. Now we are delinquent with the state and had to pay the taxes out of or our pocket again to make sure it was paid this time directly. Spoke with manager at the bank and now we have to wait and give them proof that we paid the taxes in order for reimbursement. So we have to follow their rules but when it comes to them, they can act and do whatever they please... Will be looking into refinancing this auto loan with another bank. read more

Oh boy what a disaster this place is. My husband passed away on Dec 3rd leaving a credit card through consumers I was unaware of. Someone called from Consumers asking for a payment, I explained the situation and then went on line and made 2 separate payments thru my bill pay thru my bank. The processing center returned both payments to me (weeks later) saying it was the wrong account number although the card number matched the account number. I drove over and made my payment at the drive thru, in the mean time they have reported me to the credit reporting agencies, which isn't great. I have tried to call and after speaking with 7 (count them 7) people on the phone nothing has been resolved, and I actually brought all my documentation to the Round Lake Beach branch one week ago and was told someone would call me.....nothing. So my question is where is their supposed customer service? Laura D read more
