All of the vendors are really friendly & knowledgable. This farmers market is extremely dog friendly so be aware if you have allergies. The only downside to this market is how rude people can be when it comes to their dogs. We've seen owners let their dogs go to the bathroom just steps away from vendor tents and it's disgusting. Overall a really nice farmers market with lots of yummy food & local produce.

We've always wanted to get fresh, warm and delicious bread and pastries from the Chaupain Bakery stand, but their line has always been insanely long. Luckily enough during our visit this past weekend, the line wasn't as terrible when we passed by them--you grab that opportunity without dilly dallying because a minute later, that can change real quick. We got a slice of their caramelized onion quiche, a strawberry bar, a chocolate chip muffin, and a bag of their brioche buns. Sooooo yummy! We also got Amapola's banana pudding and it was divine! The perfect dessert for a sweet tooth. It's served chilled, so creamy and not too sweet. I love that you still get some banana chunks in there too. Will definitely get this again the next time we visit! I was also in dire need of more coffee that morning, so I decided to get some from Wipeout Coffee. I got a large Iced Hazelnut Latte with oat milk. I was so happy to get to try new coffee from a local roaster! It was pretty good--I really enjoyed my drink--just an insane amount of ice even after asking for light ice. Their coffee was just so crisp and refreshing. They also have all kinds of fresh and vibrant greenery, flowers, and produce that are all just so hard to resist! Unless something drastic changes, we'll always come to visit this farmer's market.

But that's pretty common these days, not just for Farmer's Market, but parking in general. Lots of food options and I don't just mean vegetables. You could pretty much have breakfast and lunch here. And enough so you can skip dinner. I almost wonder if there are more food options than other vendors. I didn't count. Don't get me wrong - still a lot of Knick knacks and other items to browse/buy other than food - maybe even something like I grabbed - a western cowboy hat. Finally got me one. Sorry - no pics. Anyway, it's busy, colorful, and fun, and it has that San Diego weekend energy. Definitely check it out if you like fresh food, people watching and spending more money than you meant to.

I was able to pick up some fresh baby blue eucalyptus plants for my shower, as well as lavender oils to really help with my aromatherapy relaxation routine at home. The Hillcrest Farmers Market happens every Sunday from 9am to 2pm and there are usually well over 150+ vendors set up along University Avenue and Normal Street. Parking is a bit tricky, but we were very lucky to find a spot in a nearby neighborhood. Once we got in, we found a great assortment of meats, sauces, dips, and more. In a somewhat hidden part of the trail, there's a bunch of exotic food options to consider, including flavors from Africa, as well as some tables where you can sit and enjoy the food. There are also flowers, veggies, eggs, honey, and pretty much anything you'd be interested in. I think we shopped for about 45 minutes as casual browsers, and it felt like a good amount of time to get a feel for the place. It's a great spot to support small businesses.

As it is summer, they have beautiful heirloom tomatoes,different types of summer squash, green and yellow string beans, pimento peppers, figs, white nectarines, eggs, herbs, lettuce varieties, and many other veggies I can't remember off the top of my head. They are known for their purple artichokes in the spring. They have had green, white, orange and purple cauliflower, cabbage, yams, lots of different citrus, He also has sugar cane for sale but you need to asked for it. I suggest to get there soon after they open if you want the best selection. Some of their items go quickly. When you come upon the circular driveway, enter on the left side where you see the sign, drive slowly past the veggie stand and park beyond it in a way you don't block the driveway so people can get out.

Did you know... fresh farm eggs can sit on the counter (unrefrigerated) for up to 14 days IF the eggs have yet been refrigerated. And they are SO good. Obviously, refrigerate if they won't be consumed within the 14 days but once refrigerated they must stay refrigerated . When buying at the booth, they have not been refrigerated. Current price: $8 for 1 dozen. Expensive but quality and freshness is priceless. If you haven't had fresh farm eggs or don't know the difference, you need to refine that pallet of yours because you are missing out. Fresh as in unwashed!!! I've gone "country" in this beach city! Many times I have considered taking the drive to Ramona to the farms to hunt for some fresh eggs for my baked goods, breakfasts, and my fresh pasta noodle making. Especially when it comes to making my fresh pasta noodles from scratch I want the freshest eggs possible. Well, you don't need to drive to the farms. Their tent is available at some of the farmers markets around the county. If you see their tent, don't pass them up! Well worth $8. Some of the other food vendors at the farmers markets use their eggs as well. I had a "breakfast bowl" and they were frying up fresh eggs from Three Sons Farm. The taste of fresh eggs... I can't find the right words that deserve their compliments. Has a fresh and clean taste to them. The yolk doesn't have a harsh "yolks-ness" taste, it's lighter and creamier - if that makes sense?! The difference is in the yolk. I will take creamier over store bought any day. Ex: I make my own fresh pasta noodles from scratch. That alone, the noodles are already fresh and silky.
