When I moved here during Covid, this was one of the first places that connected with me, offering a take-home Shabbat meal (because quarantine), live streaming high holiday services and continuing zoom programming. They transitioned to outdoor events, to now more or less back to normal. These events occur every month. Sometimes dinner, Jewish learning, holidays and more. It's a great way to connect with the community, especially as a young adult. Additionally, they do events in the community, volunteering and trivia to name a few. The Hillel has made a big impact on my life and made my transition to Houston life so much easier! Years ago, I attended UOS over the High Holidays with the family of a good friend from my Texas A&M…read moredays. I particularly remember driving to the shul just before Kol Nidre and then walking home (past the JCC) afterwards. The next day we would walk to UOS and then drive home after Neilah for break the fast. Those were also the days that UOS had mixed seatings and the shul's team of Rabbi Joseph Radinsky and Cantor Irving Dean were in full bloom. And although praying all day when you're hungry and thirsty can make for a long day (including all the repetitions), I had a great time. And never mind the fact that my Conservative conversion had no validity in this Rabbi's eyes. At the same time, UOS helped get me started on my Jewish journey. This is where my Bet Din met (led by Rabbi Moshe Cahana) and my dip in the Mikvah occurred just prior to my conversion on that January 1979 day.

The music was upbeat but not rocky. The songs were all centered on Jesus. Today they had a staff pastor Jordan speak and it was very good. They had an altar call which was well attended. They do not pass a collection plate but they have baskets in the front and back where you can put your offering. They is also a way to give via online. I felt no pressure to give. It looks like they have meetings on Sunday and Wednesday nights. I didn't see kids but they had kids ministry during the meeting so I would guess that's were they were. The entrance for the kids was well manned and with registration. Masks were optional. Oh and the toilets were off the main lobby, well marked and very clean. I will definitely go back and take pictures then.
