We're large enough to be a full-service congregation that offers you and your family every opportunity to expand your Jewish horizons. But we're small enough for you to feel known and welcome. Everyone's unique. Yet no matter where you are in your life, you can experience Jewish life to its fullest with Aliyah. Some look to a synagogue for inspiring messages from the Rabbis. Others want songful prayers from the Hazzanim (Cantors). Still others simply want to be part of a social congregation and participate in programs that exemplify Jewish living. At Aliyah, you'll find exactly what you want -- in a home for long-term spiritual growth that celebrates every step of the journey. For many generations of Jewish families in the West San Fernando and Conejo Valleys, Aliyah has been a place of hope, a place to learn, and a place to come together in times of celebration, as well as mourning. We are proud to provide a multitude of community services for our congregants and the public, including preschool care with award winning faculty, religious school, B'nai Mitzvah celebrations, marriages, funeral services, onsite kosher catering for any event, facility rentals, and so much more! At Aliyah, we take pride in our synagogue and everyone that walks through our doors, because every single person adds their unique touch to this community. Among our congregants, Aliyah has the dual blessing of deeply engaged generations-long members as well as newcomers who dive into Synagogue life enthusiastically. This union of existing and new members is a strong foundation on which our plans for the future may be built. Aliyah welcomes individuals, couples and families of all backgrounds - including interfaith, single-parent, blended families and individuals with special needs - we believe Aliyah can be a spiritual home for everyone.

Temple Aliyah is directly responsible in aiding me in my resolve to provide a Jewish education to my children. From the Rabbis' who personally provided assistance and support when a child of mine expressed interest in Hebrew High to the all accommodating staff and administration that pledged, allocated, and distributed funding so that we my girls and I could become members. The religious school education that was made available to my youngest, dispensed, and delivered a true love for our rich tradition. I could stop now but that would be remiss of me.. You see those years of Jewish education and identity helped produce children who spent years living in Israel, searching out Temple membership independent of their mother in states all outside California, and now a new generation of continued ritual and love for our ancient and rich tapestry. Many years later, I remarried and my husband who is a New Yorker and Jewish.. meaning for the most part.. bar mitzvahed.. where Jewish ed typically ends... had no real affiliation or accord with Judaic ritual i.e Shabbat etc.. suddenly became very interested, actually short of insistence on ceremonial Friday night ritual of Candle Lighting, Kiddush,Challah etc. He even enrolled in two courses related to baking Challah! In his many conversations with Rabbi Stewart Vogel, my husband ( the scientist) was able to finally explain to me where religion and science meet rather than part! Something I had struggled with my entire life. And.. of course R. Vogel married us! Through the last 16 years I have been honored to be a part of a most progressive temple. Witnessing real and meaningful care and concern, participation, creative brilliant programs.. and they keep coming! What Temple Aliyah has made available to me is not something that this yelp review can contain..( wait for the book) ha! The friendships, the adult education, the "To everything there is a season." If you are in search of a Temple.. come to Aliyah and be filled with joy and welcomed with those who truly embrace Chesed.. Loving Kindness!

Long time ago I was a member for years, at the bottom, on the verge of living out of my car so I sought help from my church RP and specifically Mike Yearly who turned his back on several of us, several families...all members. When I went to see him, it felt as if evil from him was trying to drill a hole in me via his eyes. When several asked if we could pitch a tent just for a few days there Yearly said no and then asked how we would tithe. I kept my faith and God blessed me abundantly...found a church a short time later that welcomed me with open arms and even offered me a place to live. My situation now is completely abundant buying my own house, in fact several. After all those years I thought to try RP again hoping, praying the evil had left...it had not. They have greeters that act as if it's a job or a chore to greet, not an honest emotion to love people, love God's children. Rocky Peak has become a mega-church jr. with all the ritual distance from it's members especially those who income is not adequate. After many years asking God's help with loving regardless I tried going back for a bit to see what the Spirit had to teach me thinking/praying maybe perspectives had changed, but it still felt like it wasn't my Father's house and not a place where His beloved children could run and jump and play. In one of my revisits a couple outside afterward even said they were leaving RP becuae their faces got tired of smiling. Yearly quipped several times to me on the side way back then he couldn't wait until his contract with the church was up. A pastor loves his flock regardless of their status and finds joy in being with them..this is NOT Rocky Peak or it's lead pastor.

We've tithed for years, paid preschool tuition here, and have personal relationships with the executive pastors. The finance administrative assistant refused us stating we weren't "members." Then we mentioned we'd be making a donation. The refusal vanished immediately, and suddenly she was happy to help. That's the whole story. Our family's decades of faithfulness meant nothing, but a check changed everything in a single conversation. We had to buy compassion from a church, during the worst week of our lives. The funeral will happen, and I'm glad my father will be honored somewhere he belongs. But if you're considering this church for your family -- especially for the moments when you'll be at your most vulnerable -- know how we were treated when we came to their door in grief.
