If I could give zero stars I would. We are not members of a congregation, so Rabbi Marx was a…read more"rent-a-rabbi" for my mom's funeral service. His speech was eloquent, but completely vanilla, because he spent all of ten minutes collecting background. At the service itself, he stopped the procession at the wrong grave site, then when we arrived at the correct grave site, wanted to "confirm" that we would leave the casket at ground level rather than lower it, and then tried to rush everyone out while family members were throwing dirt on the lowered casket. When I asked him if anyone told him we would not be lowering the casket, he said no, but he assumed we wouldn't. When I said we shouldn't leave because folks were still throwing dirt, he said we were mostly done. I sent him an email afterwards expressing disappointment. He sent back a dictated message with lots of typos about his taking pride in comforting people. Maybe it was a busy day for the rabbi, but he did not treat my family with respect, let alone emapthy, on a day when we needed both.

He is the longest serving Rabbi in the Bucks/Montgomery county area. He moved to north of the Mason-Dixon Line (Pennsylvania) from south Florida. He really helped in increasing the number of members of the congregation. I attended a class he taught. I also had a free Jewish breakfast in the synagogue social hall and had the honor of meeting him in person when he sat at my table. The class I attended was held in the Gitlin Sanctuary, which is quite attractive/nice. The synagogue sets on a beautiful parcel with a pond, etc. It sets on a large lot and is a roomy, attractive building inside and out.
