As soon as I walked in, the staff were laughing and having fun. It's nice when staff all get along. I went for a fracture in my arm. The front desk was very patient and helpful with my worker's comp information. The doctor, nurses, and x-ray tech couldn't have made me feel more welcomed and comfortable, AND heard. The worst concentra you can go to, the wait time is enormous, there aren't enough chairs. The reception is nice enough, but you will be waiting over an hour, I'd recommend scheduling whatever kind of screening you need at another facility. I've been here for over two hours for a pre employment drug screening and a DOT Physical. Care is about as good as you can expect at one of these places. 2/10 zero frills, basic as it gets. Again I must emphasize, if you have any kind of pre employment screening, talk to your employer, rearrange it for another location, do not go to this Concentra. I've been STANDING for over 2 hours. I went in to the McCarter Highway, Newark location a few times for a slip and fall accident at my job where I hurt my hand and tail bone (no need to worry, im okay). I have to be honest and tell you waiting to see a Dr. can be painful at times, however, the receptionist's are very pleasant and helpful. NP Saint Jean is the best in my opinion. Her and her team took very good care of me. They requested X-rays, prescribed meds and ice pack all on the spot! It felt great to receive full care in one place and not being ping-ponged to another location. I couldn't have asked for a better service. read more

If you are working for the Police Department, Fire Department or The Board of Education, then come right in you cut the line of all those others waiting hours to be seen; inappropriate. Staff not given good home/work life balance as they are forced, almost daily, to work 1-3 hours overtime and do not get to use their allotted 1 hour break time (on hire told to work till closing and a great home life); inappropriate. They frequently run out of durable medical goods that the patient's get given to them (braces, canes, crutches, cam walker boots, hot/cold packs, menthol pain relief rub etc) and have poor inventorying skills; inappropriate. I don't usually review anything other than restaurants but I had to review this place! I don't know about you, but I hate scheduling a doctor's appointment only to be able to see him a week away, getting to the doctor's office on time for the appointment, and then having to wait 3 hours to see the doctor! Not to mention, I work from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm so how am I supposed to see a doctor, when most doctors' offices only open at 10 am and close by 5 pm?!?!?! A friend of mine recommended that I go to Concentra. Concentra is open from 7 am to 7 pm (pretty good business hours in my opinion). Best part: walk in appointments! There's a huge parking lot where you can park. I walked in at 7:20 am. There were 3 people already waiting. The place is very clean and comfortable. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, not bitter and indifferent. I filled out my forms, handed my insurance information, sat for a some minutes, and in no time, was called in. Btw, most insurance companies are accepted and for people without insurance, their office visit fee is pretty reasonable compared to other doctors! I was initially seen by a certified medical assistant. The assistant was very friendly as she checked my height/weight, pulse, blood pressure, and body temperature. I was then seen by Dr. Dort, who specializes in Family Practice. He was very calm and patient and explained what I had, with specific expertise. He gave me a prescription for antibiotics and I was out of there by 8:20 am! I was literally in and out of this place in an hour, with enough time to get to work! My FSA denied the papers given to us by Concentra because the "treatment" that was provided was not on the paper that was given to us. I got in the place at 12:21pm with paperwork in hand, gave it to the male receptionist Sean. I was told to have a seat that I'll be called shortly for registration. I was thinking maybe 25-45 mins for that but I was shocked when I was called to the receptionist desk at 1:20pm to fill out paperwork. I immediately asked why did I have to wait damn near an hour to fill out paperwork? I was told that because there were "so many people before me" but I witnessed a Newark Fireman come on way after me who was filling put paperwork before I and who was called in the back before I. I wish I listened to the reviews. I prefer another location better in Newark but they opened later. I came in at 7am, when they opened. The doctor did not come in until 8:45am. I was number 3. I did not leave until 9:30am. I get things happen and understand the physician may have had personal matters, but this seems to be the typical wait time based on the reviews. The only reason I am giving two stars is because the MA was nice and the physician was helpful. In my own personal Opinion Doctor Herrera Of Concentra at 375 McCarter Highway, Newark, NJ location was the worst Doctor that I have ever seen or visited and he is a liar and states false claims and makes a patient go through all the hassle of getting the proper paper work and still denying people their rights to work after being cleared properly by other physicians. He is the dullest and most non equipped doctor to ever be in Practice he needs to be shut down for malpractice and imitating a Real Certified Doctor. If possible I would rate this doctor a negative 10. They have a horrible staff and the wait times were completely utterly ridiculous and they had me personally wait for at least an hour or more. Be prepared for very long lines like your typical Urgent Care facility. It took me about an hour and a half to see a doctor. Initially I thought I was getting skipped by random walk-ins but the receptionist reassured me that they were not there to see a doctor. In the waiting room you will hear constant unanswered phone calls; after about 30 minutes I tuned them out. It gets pretty crowded fast so of course go as early as possible. The staff is very friendly and their goal is to get you to see a doctor as quickly as possible. When I finally got into the doctors office I thought the wait was over.. I was clearly played. The wait continued as I saw doctors walk pass my room (it took 45 minutes to finally be seen) I was only there for a follow up on my back spasm but it was something that was more serious I would of been in trouble. The doctor was very witty. It was a very quick visit but I had to remind the receptionist to give me my release papers. 3 hours for a 5 minute follow up is pretty absurd. read more

I responded to Concentra urgent care at the Newark office this morning. I arrived at about 7 AM, I was greeted by the staff at the front desk who was very professional, I was then greeted and seen by Technician Mr Ovilid Who is very professional, he then instructed me as far as the steps that I needed to take to complete the physical... everything went very well. After completion of my physical. I was then seen by Dr. Kheyson who asked me a few questions in reference to my paperwork and had me do the required exercises I had to take, he's very nice professional Doctor. Most insurances are accepted, walk ins are welcomed, and the service is great. I was here for the first time to get a full medical done on Friday December 15th and I can say I had a pretty good experience here. The secretaries upfront were okay I would say. They weren't horrible or anything. But the staff inside were wonderful. I can't remember all of their names the only women staff I can remember is Gloria who took my blood and Shirley who took my X-Rays, did my breathing and hearing tests. They were SO nice and they made me feel at home really. I had a better experience here than at any other clinic and even some hospitals that I've been to. I think they are all good friends so that's what makes the energy in the air better. They all get along and make a good team. This place was an absolutely nightmare to deal with. First I called and asked if there was a long line for the urgent care. The woman on the phone.m said "we're not really an urgent care" so I asked why google has them listed they told me "sometimes we do urgent care and there's currently no wait for urgent care" I was 5 minutes away and came in to an office of 22 people waiting in line for hours which means she over the phone. An hour and a half later I was treated. When I called to ask them for a copy of my records, I was told to fax over my request along with my personal information and photo ID. Which I did. I Was At Work Directly In The Same Building As Concentra So When My Wheezing Begun & My Co-Worker Nebulizer Didn't Help, Me & My Supervisor Walked Into Concentra Asking For Help As They Are A "Urgent Care Facility". My Asthma Got So Bad I Could Barely Speak And Tears Wouldn't Stop Falling; The Young Lady At The Counter Looked Me In My Eyes And Immediately Called The Nurse As She Could Hear Me Whistling. The Nurse Said "What Type Of Insurance Do You Have?" My Supervisor As Puzzled As Me Gave Her My ID And Both Insurances: She Gave It Back And Said "We Don't Take That Insurance And Because We Hear Your Wheezing We Would Have To Charge You As Tier 2 Medical Treatment And You Will Have To Pay Before We Can See You." I called this facility several times before arriving to assure they could help me. I was assured they could. When I arrived to the I Christine A. From admissions came out and was very rude and unprofessional. She told me that they would not be able to help me. When I asked why she asked me you please have a seat in the waiting room as there was nothing she could do. I then asked to speak to her supervision requesting my intake paperwork back or at least a copy since I wasn't being helped. Horrific experience at this place. I was forced to go here for a work related injury. Before even arriving at Concentra I had already been to the ER, and an Orthopedic Specialist who diagnosed me. It felt redundant that I had see someone again but I complied. I was told that I was going to see a Dr. but it turned out to be a PA. Even with the diagnosis from a trained Orthopedic Specialist the PA told me that the Dr. was wrong. He didn't offer to have me take X-rays or an MRI. Just recommended PT. I asked the PA to call the Orthopedist to check on the diagnosis which he pretended to do when he left the room for under 10 minutes. He never called the Orthopedist office which was confirmed by the other practice. This PA talked down to me, made me feel like my pain was unreal, and didn't suggest anything helpful. I was in tears. He kept insisting the Orthopedist was wrong and I asked him to take Xrays or give me and MRI so I know what's wrong with my leg. The worst part is being in pain and not having it recognized. When they discharged me, the PA had written the wrong diagnosis and wrong body part on the report. Also, the paperwork stated that I should engage in no activity but someone in Concentra told my job that I should return work. Also while waiting for paperwork, a man started uncontrollably screaming in the waiting room. The medical staff seemed confused as how to help him. I hobbled out of there fast. Needless to say I'm going to another location to have a real MD examine me. Such a horrible experience and I will be reporting the PA to the state medical board. I went to the Newark Concentra facility on Friday, February 22nd due to a work related injury. First off, the office and waiting area are very clean. The young lady at the check-in area was very professional and helpful. My employer, a local fire department, screwed up my paperwork; so, I ended up sitting there for an hour and a half waiting for them to send over a required approval. That's when Ovidio approached me, and asked why I was waiting so long. Within 5 - 10 minutes, he had all the paperwork straightened out, and i was in to see a doctor. I'm not sure what Ovidio's actual title is; however, in my opinion, he should be running that facility. He was all over the place, and it seemed he was always performing multiple tasks at the same time. I was very impressed with his interaction with all the patients in the waiting area. He seemed genuinely concerned about all of us. Katie was awesome and very personable as she took my vitals, and saved me God only knows how much time by getting my x-rays from Clara Maass.
