I should have known that my little dude was sick when he slept most of the way. He's not a car sleeping toddler. After getting to Milwaukee, my little dude just didn't act his usual happy self. For a little guy, he can run and run until he falls asleep. He didn't want to eat, wanting tons of snuggles and sleep. Hoping that an early bedtime would help, he slept most of the night. When he woke up on Saturday, he still wasn't his fun loving, eating tons of food toddler I know. I knew something just wasn't right, we headed over to the walk in clinic. The walk in clinic is fantastic. When we arrived, we were second in line behind someone else. The receptionist helped us fill out the paperwork as I had a toddler wanting to be held 24/7. Since it was in network for us, we had a small co-pay. We waited for about 15 minutes until we saw the doctor. The walk in clinic is new, bright, big, and clean. The exam room, one of many, were well equipped. They put us in the baby one (basically with a baby scale). For a Saturday afternoon, there was one doctor and one nurse on staff. The doctor examined my little dude to discover that he had his first double ear infection. He prescribed antibiotics and encouraged us to push fluids. In less than a hour, we knew what was bugging my little dude. If other health issues come up with my little one while visiting family, we'll come here. We received great service and are now in their system to make visits easier.

The space is not crowded, nor is it overly hectic. They have their own lab on site. It was fairly easy to get an appointment as a new patient for a primary care doctor. Front desk staff and the support staff were all friendly and helpful. It's good to have an Eastside alternative and not have to drive to Wauwatosa or all the way to Mequon for care. First of all, one doesn't just walk in off the street and join in, we have to be referred by a physician. Our cardiologist sent us here after a procedure a few weeks ago. After an orientation, we were shown the gym, equipped with modern equipment, free weights, isometric ribbons and other tools. Machines range from low impact cross-trainers to weight machines. There are several treadmills and a 132 foot walking track. (That means 40 laps makes a mile.) Each of us is fitted with a telemetry unit that monitors our heart rates in a central location. Each patient's weight, blood pressure, oxygenation and heart rates are closely monitored throughout the session. Cleanliness is job one, we all wash our hands several times during a session. We wipe down all equipment with sanitation sheets when we complete our reps. There are locker rooms and a shower. Most of us carry in exercise clothes and shoes to take advantage of the locker room. The staff is professional and they all obviously enjoy their work. They are sincerely dedicated to our health and our hearts' rehabilitation. While it's no fun getting injured when you are on vacation, places like this greatly reduce the hassle we would have expected anywhere else. I was told on January 5 that it would be reviewed, but I have heard nothing. The bill from Ascension for urgent care is for $520. My insurance adjustment was $194, I paid a $50 copay and I owe $276. This is for hospital services. I would like an explanation of why this is so high when it was a 15 minute visit with no tests at all and not even a hospital gown used as all they did was look at a rash to give me a prescription. Again this is urgent care, not the emergency room. Next, the bill from Emergency Medicine Specialists is for $582, of which insurance adjustment is $311.70 leaving me with $270.30. This bill says code 99204 which is a level 4 visit. As I only saw a an assistant for 5 minutes and a nurse for about 10 minutes, the code should be 99202 ( 20-30 minutes) at most or something less. Both of these bills seem to be incorrect, and I need this resolved but can't seem to get a response from Ascension. Almost $650 for a quick evaluation of a rash after insurance at an urgent care clinic is outrageous and incorrect.

Twice I was having symptoms that would indicate low estrogen and it wasn't until I saw my primary dr. and switched back to regular hormones that the symptom stoped. My primary dr. said that hormone blood tests (that they use as the basis of their treatment) are not very accurate. You can have 3 blood tests throughout a 24hr period and it will likely show different results. Save your money.
