Zero tolerance for aggressive behavior. The Dr. Needs to apply this to himself.
    Jessi M.

First, the Front desk ladies and CNA were very kind, friendly and helpful. As for the Dr. - well let's just say I heard him reprimand the employee loudly ( I heard it from my assigned room while I waited). Also, only one Dr. For a large facility- Wow- talk about cutting corners to save money. I wonder if this lack of service is because of the clients they serve. Better area equals better service. Front desk service equals 5 stars! I walked out after two hours and others did as well.

From day one, my oncologist and clinical team provided clear, honest guidance, taking the time to map out a precise treatment plan and answer every single question I had. The medical expertise here is world-class, but what truly sets this center apart is the physicians and nurses at the center. They turn a stressful experience into a comfortable one with their constant attentiveness, warmth, and genuine compassion. You never feel like just another chart number; they treat you like a human being.

Never even looked at or addressed most of them and when they finally called me after several people who showed up after me had gone and and gotten tests When I was finally called the person confirmed I was there for a "bug bite". I had previously need to Urgent Care and this exact ER after being advised by my Drs office due to a tick bite in June. After an appointment with my primary this morning I was sent with a written referral to the ER. 1) they never even looked at the drs notes. 2) the dr never asked about my symptoms 3) I explained my dr was concerned about meningitis's so they took a TON of blood and the. Did a spinal tap to test spinal fluid. After that procedure I was told I would need to stay flat on my back for two hours and would be discharged at 7:30. Then the room started filling up. Not just patients and staff but family and machines. As someone with neurological issues the amount of stimulation cases me to completely shut down. I was hyperventilating, sweaty and clammy, my head started pounding. I asked/begged to be moved someone where quiet (i was told the hospital was out of ear plugs) then when it was about time to be released they decided to do a brain MRI...my second one since June so I was a bit hesitant but was told it was necessary so I did it. The Dr who had been helping me had to go so she said another Dr would be by to discuss all the test results with me. He never showed. I had to ask four more times to leave and then my paperwork has a diagnosis of "headache"!'!! I didn't even come in with a headache nor was it a primary concern. I live with 5 migraines per week so I know a bad headache and I didn't even have one. The paperwork shows a complete lack of understanding as to why I was there and on top of that the ride and dismissive behavior and never getting the actual Fr to talk to me was mind blowing. I will never again trust this ER. HORRIBLE!!! As I left there were several other people in the halls screaming they just wanted to get out of that place. The "charge nurse" was by far the rudest with the most attitude and refused to listen to me and even though I asked for the Dr twice she didn't get one and made one minimal Change to my discharge paper. She showed a complete lack of empathy or understanding. I hope she finds a new profession soon. Cause she does not give a rats about patients.

And to make matters more difficult, the drive into LA was long...and I had to use the bathroom...eek! As I walked to the busy food area, I walked passed the medical center and figured....they should have a bathroom. And they did! Solving my first problem and ready to eat, I was exiting but walked passed the busy in-house cafeteria. Wow was it busy! I was here...so I decided to check it out...and it was fantastic. There were many food stations and everything being made to order. Why walk down to the populated busy food area when there are wonderful options so close by! There were almost too many options...but I decided on the tostada salad. I got it loaded with beans, chicken, lettuce, cheese, olives, green onion, and pico...all on top of a baked shell. It was very delicious and as a combo, it came with a medium drink...which all totaled about eleven dollars. If I need to go to Pauley Pavilion again...I will stop here for sure!

I received a phone message from UCLA saying my Health Insurance denied my lung cancer surgery…read morescheduled for a week away. I called my Health Insurance and they said "nonsense, it had been approved weeks earlier" and I held the Willie Wonka golden ticket best coverage possible. UCLA never contacted me correcting their false information and it was hell living through this trying to get it corrected. On top of that: My letter to UCLA patient care: I was a patient at UCLA Reagan about 2 months ago. 16 gauge needles were incorrectly used, way over sized, improperly placed and could have caused nerve damage in my hand. If you disagree I have several seasoned, experienced RNs on hand that would gladly discuss this with you. They were horrified at my treatment, as were some UCLA hospital staff. Read that; some. After my surgery I awoke from anesthesia in recovery. No pain medication was available because the pharmacy was closed for lunch an hour then it would be another hour after it opened to fill the prescription. Think about having a lung resection and awaking to excruciating pain no relief. I reported these nightmares to UCLA Patient Care and no one is listening, no response. No supervision during these ordeals either. Days later Doctors approved my release and the staff forgot about me. Family waiting to take me home and I was lost in the system. Is anyone paying attention to patient care? You claim you listen and you care, in all sincerity I have heard nothing after reporting all this. I have a legitimate concern, and I am being ignored. Nurses say I was the best patient ever, so it's nothing triggering these horror experiences that I did.

It has taken me three years to write this review because the experience was so traumatic that I…read morewasn't ready to talk about it until now. During one of the most critical periods of my life, I repeatedly sought treatment at this hospital while my health continued to decline. Instead of feeling heard, I often felt that assumptions were being made about me and the cause of my illness. I felt that it was easier for some providers to attribute my worsening liver condition to partying and alcohol use rather than fully investigating what was actually happening. Eventually, it was discovered that I had autoimmune hepatitis. By the time the correct diagnosis was recognized and I received proper treatment elsewhere, my condition had progressed to the point that I needed a liver transplant. One of the most frustrating parts of my experience involved Dr. Patel. After reporting concerns about the care I was receiving and speaking with management, I was shocked to be assigned to the same physician again when I was later readmitted. That made me feel as though my concerns had not been taken seriously. Another hospital recognized the severity of my condition and provided the care that ultimately saved my life. I will always wonder whether my outcome could have been different if my symptoms and concerns had been taken seriously sooner. I understand that medicine is complicated and that doctors do not always have immediate answers. However, patients deserve to be listened to, treated with dignity, and thoroughly evaluated before assumptions are made about their condition. Three years later, I finally have the strength to share my experience. I hope that anyone facing a serious illness will trust their instincts, advocate for themselves, and seek a second opinion if they feel something is being overlooked. All the nurses specially Cristina on 6th floor and "Doctor" Alexis were incompetent. My family member was there for FOUR DAYS and all they were giving him was pain meds! I DO NOT appreciate any of the "help" we got. We are not satisfied with any of the services or procedures. They didn't even know what arm to check his blood pressure when I specifically ordered notes on the boards or notebooks to have some sort of acknowledgment that one arm was totally immobilized. But did they care, NOT ONE BIT! Not only will I be doing reviews but I will reporting the nurses (every single one that visited my family member) to the state board, INCLUDING THE "DOCTORS" Mind you not a single surgeon or actual doctor came into the room, no case manager or anyone with a medical profession. Dr. Taylor was so different from any other physician I've encountered in this sense. She really took the time to get to know me holistically. I didn't feel rushed or like she wasn't listening to me. She asked me about community support that I had in Los Angeles since I recently moved here. She asked me about my relationship with food, not just whether I'm eating enough fruits and veggies. It was a huge paradigm shift from how these annual visits typically go with other physicians. Because of her empathy and care, I felt much more comfortable sharing the factors that contributed to my weight and we discussed plans to work on this in the future. I felt very supported. She made a number of referrals for other issues I was having which made me feel like she was taking my concerns seriously. A small thing that made a big difference for me was that her description on her website says she provides "gender-affirming care" and she was wearing a lanyard with a trans flag on it. I am not transgender myself but having a physician who supports this community is important to me and to be honest, that type of mindset just comes with a level of care and empathy that you don't often see in healthcare unfortunately. Thank you, Dr. Taylor for your care! Very grateful to have established care with her. The medical center more broadly was also very nice. The building were clean, everyone was masked. The nurses and front desk staff were incredibly sweet and answered all my questions. The parking is free for 2 hrs which is great to not have to incur that additional cost. I will definitely try to route all my medical care through Keck in the future. My only issue is the center is BIG! There definitely could have been more instructions as to where to park and how to find my building since there are so many. Luckily I gave myself plenty of buffer time but for all their due diligence to remind us of our appointments, some extra guidance on how to find them would have been greatly appreciated.

While the facilities are undeniably outdated with beds from what looks like the 70s or 80s and little TVs that aren't working (at least in my father's room), it's the staff and the care I'm impressed with. Most of the staff is wonderful. Most of them are dedicated to the comfort and care of the patients. The patients are kept clean, dry, and as comfortable as possible. I can see an effort made to entertain as well as to the little chores we all have to do like manicures and such all on a regular schedule. It is a nice center courtyard floor plan which gives residents a connection with the outside and each other. The floor plan is why I picked this facility as I knew my father would enjoy, looking out and even going out on occasion. It would be nice if the facilities got a little remodeling however, I'm glad they spend their money on the staff and having enough staff, instead of a nice new place with less staff in which patients are neglected or abused. We lucked out because my father got a perfect roomate whose mind is just fine. He keeps an eye on my father and calls the nurse anytime my father forgets and tries to get out of bed which he shouldn't do alone. I do wish the facility would use a pressure pad, either on the floor or bed, that would alert them if a patient was getting up. Overall, this place doesn't smell as bad as many of these facilities do, I believe thanks to the care and attention of the staff. I'm resting easy that my father is being well taken care of. Since insurance is covering this right now, and we haven't gotten a bill yet, I don't know what the value is, however, I am happy I picked these facilities. I would pick them again.
