I have noticed they don't start seeing patients until 830 at least on the "med" side. At 8:50 I went up to the front desk to ask them how much longer my wait would be, she told me my file had been pulled and it should be soon. I gave her a confused look as I had already been there for 50 minutes. She followed by saying it would be 10 more minutes. Immediately, I heard my name called and I was back to get my lab work done. I wish I would have said something sooner.. I did notice a paper at their front desk about wait times. They must always deal with complaints due to long waits. I wish the lady listed was working.. If you have to go here, plan to wait at least an hour. There were at least two or three people that had to leave because they could not wait any longer.

So I did a search and found out that Saint Luke's has a spot in the local Hy-Vee. Well I had been thinking of changing to Saint Luke's anyway based off of my job. They do a lot of work there and seemed knowledgeable. Wellll this lil spot helped confirm it for me. My daughter wasn't feeling well and they helped walk her through every step to help diagnose her. She left without the despair that she had been feeling and that was enough for me. I am thankful for the patience and the dedication that this staff had here. I don't know if I'll go back to Minute Clinic and I liked them a lot.

Speaking of finding it, don't look for the entrance on Shawnee Mission Parkway; it's on Belinder, just north around the corner from SM Pkwy, in the same building as the Bloch Cancer Center. There is free parking right in front of the building. Unlike other reviews, my experience was very good, from the front desk security personnel, to the Cheryl in the Urgent Care reception/intake area, to the APRN, Jenna Koehler. I think other reviewers expected an Urgent Care facility to offer everything an emergency room would, but that's not their purpose, and they cost way less than an ER visit. And as their phone message says, "If this is an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room." Urgent Care is a great alternative on times and days when you couldn't possibly get in to see your doctor on a moments notice, or even on the same day, but need some medical attention. As for speed and efficiency, I was seen within five minutes after completion of my paperwork. I was a little surprised that the APRN was wearing a medical mask, but I just assumed she was protecting herself from all the germs that must walk into one of these places every day! I liked her "chair-side manner," and she had me all taken care of within 15 minutes, and a prescription called to my pharmacy. This is an attractive, clean, well-equipped facility, as you'll see from the pictures I posted. I recommend the Westwood/KU Urgent Care Center.

Stormy at the front desk was super nice and welcoming, too. Overall, this was an efficient visit. I don't think I waited longer than 10 mins in the lobby before I was called back for vitals. There was some time between that and actually talking to the physician, but not that long. I felt the staff were professional and cared. I was in and out of there in under an hour. After my visit was done, Stormy let me know there are other locations where I'm from in TX, so that was definitely good to know for future use. I know some reviews have mentioned shady business as far as charges go, but I can't speak to that. I was happy to see my copay was only $25. I'd say overall, it was good quality care for the experience.

At my visit to Carbon Care, however, the PA diagnosed me with a partial calf muscle strain and confidently ruled out an Achilles injury without performing the Thompson test, which I found out is the standard clinical test for this exact injury. I was told to follow up in two weeks with no imaging ordered. I want to be fair, the staff was kind and the PA wasn't dismissive. However, if you're not an expert in something, it's also okay, and I believe your medical responsibility, to say you're not the expert and refer me to one. The missed diagnosis meant I left without the correct treatment plan for a serious injury, and I only got clarity by seeking a second opinion the next day. If you come in with a suspected Achilles injury, especially after a pop during push-off, I'd encourage you to ask specifically whether the Thompson test has been performed and push for immediate imaging to confirm. Don't let two weeks pass before finding out. Fortunately I had some strong advocates in my corner to push for a second opinion.

The receptionist was pleasant and I was called back quickly by a nurse and the other two people were called back quickly as well who had been in the line. The nurse was pleasant also who took my vitals. The room was clean and I'm glad they had a small TV with cable because I did have to wait in the room about 30 minutes which has not been the case in other visits. The APRN came in and he was nice as well and took his time and ordered a sonogram for me. Unfortunately the only imaging at urgent care's tend to be X-rays. So since it was a Friday I will probably have to wait until next week. The nurse that came in to explain the paperwork was also nice. I will continue to go there in the future since I tend to get in more quickly than other urgent care centers.
