The beach is filled with sharp shells and rocks -- dogs might hurt their paws. Cool views of Narragansett Bay and the Jamestown Bridge. We typically see a lot of birdwatchers and families. Walk from the parking lot down the large path until you see water. Then at the beach, take a right and climb over some big rocks and you'll find more beach to walk on as you head towards the Jamestown Bridge. Very easy walk/hike. No bathrooms or trash cans -- so I deducted a star.

Bikes balls and…read moreyaks Wilson Park is a great 75 acre park that has soccer fields, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, jogging trails, a bike path and even a boat launch ramp. Everything is in great condition and extremely well maintained and the facilities are well used in the warm weather. Nice areas to have a picnic, walk a dog or take a stroll by the water. The boat launch tends to get crowded int he summer but there is a separate little areas just for canoes and kayaks so they don't have to wait for the larger craft. A very thoughtful touch indeed. A great park for just about anything you can think of. Whether you want to kick, swing, bounce, peddle, cast or paddle you will find this park to just about the perfect place.

Immediately greeted by a small pond, which is always a nice feature for a walk through the woods. There are stairs down, and a decent amount to be prepared for that both starting and finishing your trip. There are also some "bridges" over waterfalls with visible openings. Certainly safe, but just a heads up. I took a short stroll around the pond and then up to the left, walking behind the water. There are trail markers which is helpful. A nice quiet spot to enjoy a little time out in nature if you happen to be in the area; oh and parking on site which is always a plus. Can't wait to come back and explore more in the Spring.

A…read morewonderful place to take dogs, lots of benches to take rests, and an ample parking lot whose potholes were recently fixed, yay! Sometimes it's hard to find out what part of the park you're meant to meet someone in since there are so many sections. You can walk along the long beach or try a woodsy hiking trail. The trails on the right of the beach have either steps or a gradual slope to get up to the top of them, and you can look down over a small cliff to see the water below. The trails on the left of the gazebo are beautiful and give you many options, but people ride horses here, so be mindful of the droppings! This park has fantastic sunsets and multiple picnic areas, plus multi Porta potties that are usually in decent condition to use if needed. The bridge is great to look at, but can get crowded with families doing holiday photo shoots in the fall, so I've become wary of coming here since being stuck on one side of the bridge while a family made us wait to cross until they were done with pictures (ugh). I've come here for walks/hikes and even to wade at multiple times of year and always enjoy a beautiful day and peaceful experience here.

We came in the winter so there was a lot of snow on the ground, but it was still so beautiful and serene. I imagine it's just gorgeous in the summer. Festina Lente…read more Signal Rock Park is a cool park tucked in a wooded area at the very end of Signal Rock Road. I suspect not many people just happen by the park, it's well hidden and is actually quite a bit larger than it first looks. The park is the home to two nice baseball fields that obviously get a lot of use. The baseball diamonds dominate the park so much that it's easy to miss what's lurking in the other, less used parts. If you go up the hill from the baseball area you will find a basketball court and a cool area that kids have turned into a mini skate park. Just some old steps from some long forgotten something, creative young minds turned it into a great place to test the laws of physics.. The park isn't really large enough for any hiking but a stroll along the perimeter of the park makes for a pleasant walk, especially in the snowy or stormy weather. A hill provides a nice spot that allows some entertaining sledding without being steep enough to kill off the younger generation. One of the small parks that has a lot more than is visible at first glance. I was so busy checking out the baseball fields that I almost walked right by the incredible chuck of quartz that guards the entrance. Like most people I tend to walk fast and want to get to the next place. But as Suetonius said in Divus Augustus, sometimes it is much better to "festina lente". (Hurry slowly).

This town park has a lot going on…read more Located behind the community/rec center are several baseball diamonds, basketball courts, a skate park, several tennis courts and a couple of playgrounds. All the facilities look well maintained. The town organizes pickleball meet-ups, basketball lessons, summer camp, community events with food trucks and more. Check the webpage for a list of upcoming events. Kid and adult baseball leagues play here as well. Definitely worth a stop by to check out the facilities. A good amount of parking is available near the tennis courts. You can also walk in from the Coventry Greenway bike path. There are two newer playground areas, one larger than the other and a couple a picnic tables are on the property as well.

The Jamestown community has really put together an amazing space for children. No dogs are allowed in the park so plan accordingly. We had a puppy with us and stayed on the shady side walk near the community center while the dads kept an eye on the kids. There are a few picnic tables in the shade here. Lots of swings. Monkey bars. Zip line. And much more! The kids had a ball. Bonus points, an ice cream shop is across the street. Two thumbs up.

I'd say the main downside is that they don't have bathrooms and instead just have port-a-potty's. You can probably go into the library if the library is open, but when we were there the library was closed. The park has a great setup for younger kids on side and older kids on the other. I also love that there is a little bakery/cafe across the street that you can grab an iced coffee at and a snack before or after the kids play. Street parking was tight, but we were able to park at the library. Overall a lovely gem of a playground.
