As someone who grew up with real estate professionals and is familiar with the processes, she is clearly uneducated, and lacks basic morals and ethics. My brother died as the result of covid -19 he lived in an apt managed by compass. I called the office and advised them of the situation but the information never got to the owner, then they sent a repair person without notifying me that someone was coming, they gave them keys to the apt. then when I left they held the security and last months rent (almost $5000) for over a month even though the apartment was already in contract to be sold. The manager Megan was argumentative and defensive but really didn't acknowledge any problem. This is not a company I would want to deal with again. read more

We recently rented a lovely condo in Truman Annex, Key West, Florida from Compass Realty for a week over the Memorial Day weekend. The condo was labeled Sago Palm and had two bedrooms and two bathrooms and was occupied by myself, my husband, and two friends. We had an absolute wonderful time there. The condo was very clean and comfortable and very well supplied with anything you would need for a weeks stay. Truman Annex is perfectly located to Duval Street and all the attractions are in walking distance from the condo. The personnel at Compass Realty, especially, Marissa, were wonderful and so helpful. I would recommend Compass Realty and the Truman Annex to anyone wanting a great, convenient place to stay at a very reasonable price. read more

We rented # 202-11 in the Truman Annex (Shipyard Condos) for the week. I am writing this review at 2 am because the bed is so hard that I can't sleep. My husband actually prefers sleeping on the circa 1980 sectional as it is MORE comfy which is saying a lot (it separates in the middle while your on it). While I understand the Realty company rents the place for the owners who probably don't want to furnish a rental with top quality furniture, this place falls below that to say the least. Although it's fairly clean (there are ant traps around and I've seen a few ants), the furnishings are DEFINITELY old and uncomfortable including bed, couch, sheets, towels, and other linens. I would have expected the real estate company to have minimum standards - isn't that the point of not renting off Craig's list ?!? Ask about mattress quality before committing to a rental :(. read more

I have been coming Troy Key West for 20 years and many times have used Compass Realty for rentals in Truman Annex. We have always been happy until this time. We rented a unit in HarborPlace at the last minute for a week and paid a good deal more than other units in Truman Annex because that was all that they had left. The building has many rules and dealing with keys to enter the building, keys for the unit and a pool key all with very high rates to replace them if lost of $100 to $200 is ridiculous. The unit itself has ripped furniture, blinds that don't cover the bedroom window and a bathroom that needs cleaning and repairs. When we asked to get a different unit they were not very accommodating, they said they were all sold out. I asked to change the next day when I knew they had availability from checking their website but they kept saying nothing was available. The girl in the office offered to check with the broker and call us back, we received a message that there was nothing available and they had already given us a discount so they wouldn't do anything for us. I really understand if there are no options but the way we're were treated with such indifference is what made me realize that Compass Realty does not care about their guests. When I asked to get someone to repair the blind in the bedroom window because 2 slats were missing I was told maybe tomorrow, I ended up finding some painters tape and repairing it myself with a pane still missing. The cost of over $4000 for the week is high for Truman Annex and this unit is not worth the money! read more

Rented 514 Emma Street house from Compass Realty Oct 13-20. The property, itself, is a lovely vacation rental. One would think that a $8,300 per week rental would be in tip-top shape. Here is a list of maintenance items that we inherited for the week: -Locks to two experior doors would not work reliably -Upstairs bathroom- first sink- no hot water; second sink- no cold water -Wall support bracket for shelf in laundry room missing- on floor by washer -Icemaker did not produce ice -pocket door to downstairs bedroom broken (this issue we called about on 10/16 Compass said they'd send a repairman over- did not arrive by time we left Sat. morning Needless to say, we will not be doing future business with Compass Realty. I hope the owner of the property is made aware of how his property is not being cared for. read more

Compass Realty is SCUM!! I rented a house for over $10,000 for a week, was greeted by the next door neighbor less than 3 hours in (at 645pm) and was told "this is not a resort"!! My 13 year old just jumped in the pool! And on the 4th day, we were evicted!! And Compass does not return my letters or calls! So I am suing them big time!!! I don't have much to say other than these folks are completely unresponsive to any and all issues. When you actually do get them on the phone, they are confused, flustered, and simply just don't seem to care about you or what you're calling about. I actually work with a separate vacation rental company - Compass Realty screwed over one of our guests pretty badly, and we refunded the guest out of our pocket fully to make the guest happy. Everett, the guy in charge, promised to send us a check so that we could recoup this cost - it was their fault. Well, it's been about a year. No check. We have sent the case to collections. These people are shady and they have slimy business practices. Our guests who have stayed with them had complaints about the quality of the rentals as well. Avoid this company! There are a lot of other great vacation rental companies in the area - save your time. read more

We have used Compass many times and find them to be very accomodating . Key west is a special place and Truman annex is extra special . Compass has always works hard to fill our needs at Truman Annex. The units are all different so dont expect a traditional Hotel room but a Unit with a unique twist. May be to your liking or not but is what KW is different. We love the free feeling of Key West and Megan at Compass has always got it done for us at a reasonable cost. read more

I have rented a condo every month of June for 10 years until the rent at Truman annex went berserk. Last week I spoke to a very snobby woman at COMPASS REALTY who put my rent around $7000 a month, telling me she was giving me a week free. I have 3 small cage trained dogs who have come with me when I previously rented from COMPASS. The price this year is $300 cleaning fee per dog. I couldn't believe it! I told her about my history of having to clean my own units and had encountered bed bugs (that's a God awful story) when I rented from the Wernicoffs.. She didn't like my questioning the price and she replied in a nasal tone.." you know, I don't think you are a good fit for KW!" Geesh...what's happening down there? Over the years as a healing practitioner, I have had locals and well known people as clients. I have even done a free benefit for a local that had been hurt in a fire. Now....I'm not a good fit. read more

Far from paradise, this place is a joke! The realty company takes no responsibility for anything when you call to voice your concerns. The third bedroom (which is actually a den with sliding pocket doors that obviously lacks any privacy) was supposed to have the two twin beds converted into one king upon our Saturday arrival. They did not! They said they couldn't get anyone out here until Monday to attach the beds and latch the sliding doors to increase privacy. We were told by Dorothy she would follow up with us on Monday regarding this, which she didn't. We had to push our own beds together and the kit that actually attaches them is nonexistent in this place. There was one frying pan that was a disgusting cancer causing mess (picture attached below) with all the Teflon scratched off. One of the front burners on the stove doesn't work at all. The hot water in the showers worked sporadically so we were able to take ONE hot shower a piece throughout the entire week. The trash doesn't get picked up daily out of the trash room like it's supposed to and when you call to let them know they are rude to you. Kim gave me such an attitude and asked me why would I be under the impression that the trash would be picked up daily when I told her it hadn't been picked up in three days (the sign says it's picked up M-F by 9am). When you call to state your concerns you don't just get attitude, they actually try to manipulate you into thinking this is your fault. They ask you why didn't you keep calling them throughout the week like I'm supposed to spend my entire vacation trying to get a hold of Dorothy and Kim so they can give me attitude. We called them over five times and got no resolution for anything except the garbage pick up for one day! It continued to not get picked up throughout the rest of our trip after that phone call. I would never use this company to book a vacation rental again. Besides the view from the balcony this place is horrible and so is the service (lack thereof) you receive! Customer service is terrible! Our place was "messy" with dead cockroaches on the floor. apparently the fumigation worked but why the bugs weren't swept up I don't know. I left an item in the room and it's taken over a week to get a single phone call returned after leaving numerous messages. read more

When dealing with Compass Realty, do your homework before you either rent from them or entrust your property to have them manage it. In my case, their lack of even basic oversight and communication resulted in significant damage to our home and a cumbersome process to get our security deposit back which does not even cover half of the damage. Our place was nicely decorated and in good shape but the cleaning could have been much better - rugs were filthy. Where I have issues is the website descriptions, what is provided and the rude customer service or should I say no service. For $3000 a week you would think they would have toilet paper and trash bags but when we asked for it they said it was a consumable and we are responsible for providing it. We then asked for the WIFI - our unit only had broadband with no cable to plug into the unit which was mounted into a built in with no access to the back - even if we did have a cable we couldn't use it. The office didn't know anything about it. But it was advertised with wifi. The directions for the place had been written in 1999 and were out of date - wrong office numbers and other information. If Compass is going to manage the owner property they should keep the owner and unit information up to date and make sure that they provide what is advertised. When we did ask for help we got the standard answer - its in the contract- well so much for a friendly welcome. It would have been much nicer to here when we Finlay checked in "oh by the way we do supply the 1st role of TP but you may want to pick up some more. Or oh let me check with the owner to see where the cable is. What we got was NO we are open only from 9-5 M-F and we leave early for happy hour on Fridays. If you have a question you will sit on hold forever or get no call back. WORSE YET THE NIGHT BEFORE WE LEFT WE GOT A NOT STATING THAT WE HAD TO PUT A LOAD OF LAUNDRY IN THE WASH AND STRIP OUR BED - THIS WAS TO HELP THE CLEANER SO THE NEXT GROUP COULD GET IN EARLY. FUNNY THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO WILLING TO HELP US WHEN WE GOT THERE AT 9AM AND HAD REQUESTED AND EARLY CHECK IN. WE GOT IN AT 4PM. Much cheaper and better experience at a B&B and they supply the TP, breakfast and a current list of things to do and do it with a smile. read more
