You must try going to a "Little Night Music" concert at Community Music School (CMS) that serves the greater Collegeville PA area. Concert prices are very reasonable. You don't need to go to Philadelphia to hear and see excellent musicians perform. For fun, try a third Thursday of every month noon "Bach's Lunch" mini-concert where you can bring a sack lunch, kick back, and relax in between your busy morning and afternoon work schedule. Community Music School has been a tremendous place for our son to explore his love of music. He started in KinderMusic and has been taking piano lessons for over three years. WE have watched him grow and improve on a weekly basis thanks to the guidance and patience of his teacher. CMS is a supportive community for anyone who has a child with musical inclinations. In addition to lessons, our son has played in multiple recitals every year, starting when he was 6. The school also offers many opportunities to attend concerts in their intimate, and acoustically excellent, auditorium. What she typed is an shocking, overwhelmingly inaccurate account of what happened when her daughter took an interview lesson. I worked at Community Music School for 21 years, and had a thriving, self-sustaining studio the entire time. I also had a solid, healthy connection with the orchestra faculty in the school district her daughter attended, and consistently drew private students from that district and those teachers' recommendations. One of the greatest things that Community Music School has offered recently is their New Horizons Band sessions on Saturday mornings. These are for those of us who had some experience playing a band instrument (way back) in school, and would like to re-visit it. Or, even those who always wanted to play a band instrument, but "life" intervened, and would now like to give it a shot. Every Saturday, we get together and have a great time making music (or trying to, at least). Our teacher/director, Erin, has unlimited patience for those of us (like me) who need a little more time to get the notes right. We love the Community Music School. The staff are all great and well qualified (some even teach Music/ instruments at Universities in the area!!). There are great opportunities from just experimenting with new instrument to serious learners to give exams and move forward. Every student is taught at the pace they want to move at. There are lots of opportunities to perform at recitals and get stage confidence. You also get to see other students perform with other instruments and show their skills. I decided to return to music as an adult learner. My son is also enrolled in the "Milestones in Music" program for preschool and kindergarten-aged children. I take piano and voice. Both my instructors are dear people who understand my challenges as an adult learner with a child at home and caregiving responsibilities. I recently had a breakthrough in one of my lessons that I can truly describe as exciting and energizing. I have come to embrace music more passionately again. We have had a long association with CMS My daughter was a cello student while in school and continued to study and play her cello into adulthood. Her teachers were excellent and her positive experience encouraged my husband and me to begin lessons. I take piano lessons and my husband took up the trumpet. We all continue with music today. This is a huge hidden gem in Trappe, Pa.! The entrance area large enough for people to move about to converse with each other while enjoying light refreshments. The art gallery is a good size to allow the artist to be creative with setting up his/ her display. And the actual music hall is perfect. What wonderful talent we have in this area. The school is a wonderful resource serving Montgomery, Chester and Berks counties with first class musical instruction, performances and cultural events. Our two daughters take lessons here and love it. They are both involved in music theory classes. One has been in a strings chamber ensemble for the past two years and was involved in the orchestra for the most recent opera performance. They have both attended various summer camps and the quality of instruction is very good. There are lots of performance opportunities to build confidence. Great place! read more

I started taking piano lessons last June at the Community Music School under the direction of Grace Kamafonas. Grace is an excellent teacher with a compassionate spirit and such knowledge of the piano. She is warm, considerate and understanding and has the patience of a saint. My son takes voice lessons at CMS in Trappe. We are very happy with the instructor and the results. We attended a holiday concert there Saturday night, with the PA Philharmonic Brass and CMS vocal and instrumental students. It was wonderful!
