LOVED taking our two-year old son here, so he can play around in the Kids Zone section, during the sweltering summer. We are from Las Vegas, and happened to meet a local mom with her two young boys at Sunset Park. And the nice mom recommended the library to me. The library's Kids Zone is very clean & the library''s staffs were very friendly to us. We will definitely return, the next time we vacation in Sedona. read more

This review is for the bookstore. What an AMAZING find. Usedbooks for $3 whether they are soft or hard cover? Phenomenal! The volunteers are friendly and I actually found it decently organized compared to other library bookstores. At least it was MOSTLY in alphabetical order. Lots of other bookstores were much more chaotic. I found some EXCELLENT books and only wished I lived closer so I could have bought more read more

The children's part of library was yucky. Worn out toys missing parts, not clean, carpet very gross. The adult sections were clean and cool, it was musty and stinky in children's area. The staff was quite nice and had some crafts set up for the kids. Think it really needs and deep down investment in cleaning and updating the kids reading and play area. read more

Support your pubic library! After we moved here, I was eager to join the library. We went over to sign up, and the identification requirements were easier than I expected. The volunteers at the desk were very helpful in registering us and teaching us how the library was organized. The building interior is grand and beautiful, and it reminds me of Julia Morgan's style. There are exhibits throughout the building. There is a room with 30 internet workstations, which I assume are hard-wired into a LAN, because the wifi has a tendency to drop off. In fact, the free wifi flaked out on us twice in two weeks, prompting us to retreat to our old reliable Starbucks. The book catalog taps into an entire Yavapai county network, and when I reserved an "item" it showed up in two days. The item was a DVD of a 1950s western, "The Last Wagon," the namesake of one of the streets here in town. I must say, it was hilarious watching the old style movie. Scenes jumped around from one landmark to another, and the scene where the teenage boy almost drowns in the rapids is a classic. If you know Slide Rock, you must really watch it to get the humor. There are several conference rooms you can reserve here, and some local clubs do that. You can, too. In back of the main building is a ranch house called the used book store. We went back there, and spent an hour or two browsing used books on Arizona. I walked out with a half dozen, priced at about $3 each. The volunteers here were helpful and friendly, too. There are other on-line resources you can access through the Sedona Public Library. I am sure to use them in the future. read more

This used to be a splendid library. Today it was overrun by noisy kids playing video games and I couldn't get help checking out a book even though there were librarians there. If you want books or a quiet place to study, hopefully you'll have more luck than I did. I don't know why this library has changed. read more

Whenever we come to Sedona we visit the library, which is architecturally spectacular and full of all the things a library should have. As we were driving in to the parking lot we saw a sandwich board sign saying USED BOOKS. So of course we detoured up the separate driveway, parked and walked down the cement walkway to the front door. There is disabled parking right in front of the walkway. The parking lot itself is gravel. We were standing in front of the Mystery section, so I told her first I wanted to look for Louise Penny books. She looked, there was one, so we have started our collection of her books. There are several rooms of well organized books. Alan found another couple of books. Hardbacks are $3 and paperbacks are $1. The Friends have been the beneficiary of the generosity of a number of donors in the community and their collection of books is extensive. Instead of having yearly or twice yearly sales as most Friends groups do, their sales are year around. They are open from from 10-4 Monday through Saturday, I believe. The store opened May 15, 2017 and at the end of their first year they donated $46,000 to the library, a fabulous sum in my eyes. This store and its volunteers are well worth a visit. read more

I love libraries. I would be in bad shape if i couldnt get a constant influx of great books and audio books. This library is pretty and I like their new self check out system. I am also able to order books I want to read but they dont have. Free super fast wifi is helpful if I have to to upload large files. read more

Someone please add the new Friends of the Library bookstore to the used book store search on Yelp. This place is amazing and we only heard of it by word of mouth in a thrift shop. This is a great library and has an amazing selection of books and great independent movies. The library has a lovely fireplace - too bad they don't light it. It is a chilly 34 degrees today and the fireplace is off. The only reason for me giving the 3 stars is due to their customer service. The ladies at the check out area are very rude and condescending. I know many of them are volunteers but jeez - if you don't want be at a place where you help people find something else to do. Maybe the Sedona Public Library has to give them an intro class on how to sociable and polite. read more

I've lived in # of towns. This Library is the Best! We are blessed to have such a wonderful facility!

Sedona is blessed to have such a wonderful library. I was fortunate enough to see it for the first time while the local quilting guild annual show was underway in the main room of the library. It was a jaw-dropping sight upon entrance into the library to see some 20 -30 large quilts suspended from the high, vaulted ceiling in a beautiful building that was designed to complement and blend into the Sedona landscape. The library has a good collection of books including audio and e-books and they have a self check-out system. There is a children's area and a small auditorium where they show free movies once a week. The films are excellent, many of them award-winning and recent. I found the staff, both the paid staff and volunteers to be very courteous, helpful and prepared to go the extra mile. There are classrooms where courses in anything from conversational French or Spanish to guidelines for financial investing are offered throughout the year. The library is a busy hub of activity and appears to invest itself in the local history, culture and interests of the residents and visitors to Sedona. It's a colourful, well-lit, beautiful building with some interesting art and it invites you to linger long while browsing through its collections or participating in a small class on some topic of interest. The library is one of those gems of Sedona and is a must-see. read more
