Come and be LOVED and be WELCOMED. I have been to many churches in the area and in many states as…read moremy husband and I have traveled across the country for his job over the last several years. Once we found Crossroads, we knew we were home. We had found a family of Christ followers. My husband and I have been in attendance for almost 10 yrs. I was baptized at Crossroads. This is a Bible centered, Christ led church. The lead pastor, Matt Summers, cares greatly for the congregation and the direction of the church in the community. I particularly love how involved our church is in reaching out to the people, of being a church that accepts All People. Whether it's working with other city organizations to donate back packs for the start of school, running Project Angel Tree during Christmas to benefit and bless children of incarcerated parents, dealing with racial tension and inequity with Be the Bridge or having a blast during the summer for our BLues and BBQ- ALL of this is done to spread the message of the gospel and the love of Christ throughout our community. It is this church's compassion and grace that draw people in and brings them to faith and redemption in Christ. It is this church that has drawn me deeper in my relationship with God by challenging me to look at my own sinfulness and to ask for forgiveness and to learn to forgive others. When you attend Crossroads, you will also be challenged to grow in your faith. It will be well worth it. You will not be disappointed.

Butch B.'s review may make sense to him, but for those of us with a wider view of sin and society,…read moreit is horribly misleading. (There is a question as to whether what Butch B. is reporting is accurate, but we will deal with his statement on its face.) Hillary Clinton made a point of telling the nation in her acceptance speech that her worldview was shaped in Sunday School; Donald Trump is so unfamiliar with Scripture that he can't even properly identify the name of a book ("Two Corinthians"). Yes, Ms. Clinton may not want to make abortion illegal, but if sin equals sin equals sin, what are we to make of Mr. Trump's serial adultery and general aversion to truth-telling? I was also unsure at first about who to vote for. ... There are many "non-recommended" reviews of support for Crossroads here on Yelp, and if you are considering attending Crossroads in the future, I would recommend that you read them and weigh what people who are actually involved with the congregation have to say about it. ... For those who wonder what my involvement is, my wife and I attend Crossroads infrequently when we come to Joliet to visit my mother. (And in the interest of even fuller disclosure, I served as the youth minister of Maple Lawn Christian Church, Crossroads' predecessor congregation, so I have a pretty good idea what I am talking about.) I was motivated to post on Yelp because Butch B.'s accusation against the congregation and its senior minister spooked my wife. I figured if it held some degree of sway over her, it may affect others -- and I was determined to make a stand on behalf of Crossroads. Thanks for reading.

Calvary Church looks like a huge church, but it is really a small, warm church. The Pastors and…read morepeople have helped me very much. They have prayed for me and prayed with me. I have met wonderful people who have become my friends. There are a lot of people here so sometimes you have to do your part to get involved. If you are a woman there is a great Bible study on Tuesday mornings. We sit at tables of 8 and you will get to know women right away. The church office will know more about other things your family can participate in. My children are grown so I don't know much about the children's ministries except that the kids like them a lot. This church is based on the teachings of the Bible and worships God in all three forms. (The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) The choir is great and so are the sermons. Come! You are welcome here! You become family when attending Calvary Church! The Church teaches straight out of the Bible, no less, no more! They do not make up rules and they teach you how to have a RELATIONSHIP with the Lord and not just have religion. I didn't really understand about the Holy Spirit. One evening, I will never be able to explain it, I was TRULY touched by the Holy Spirit at Calvary. I swear I have never felt more deeply in my heart everyday before that evening! I feel at home here and our Pastor makes everything in the Bible more understanding. Please come and visit, you will never want to go to a different Church!
