We rented a canoe for 4 hours and enjoyed every second of it. The lady up front was superrr nice and she was very open to rescheduling because of weather. My bf and I tried on life jackets while she grabbed our canoe and paddles and she pushed us out into the water. There are two paths, a scenic path and a path with food, both are very pretty though. We saw so many animals but I could only take pictures of so many. When you go to the restaurants you do have to tie up your boat yourself but that's super easy like even I figured it out. There are two restaurants on the path, a bar type restaurant and a seafood restaurant. We went to the bar and i'd definitely recommend it! Overall we had sooo much fun and I can't wait to come back again!!

We reserved our kayaks online a few days before our trip…read more The morning of our reservation, the staff at Nachand emailed us to see if we'd like to reschedule since the weather forecast was predicting a chance of rain for the last two hours of our reservation time. We decided there to keep our original reservation since it there was only a small chance of rain. The staff on-site was super nice. They helped us load into the water & helped us get out. They had life jackets & various sizes so you could choose one that fit. Unfortunately for us, it rained about 45min after we got into the water but we found some trees to hide under until the rain stopped. It was actually pretty cool experience to watch it rain. Super relaxing. It was a nice kayak trip! Definitely will be back!

Awesome Lazy River - Just keep float just keep floating

I really had the best time floating down Salt River this past weekend! I had been eyeing this all…read moresummer on Facebook and thankfully the water level, current, and weather was just right. With that being said, I would check there to see if everything is okay to float that day. It's a short drive from Louisville, and just off I-65. Follow the signs like you are going to the Most Awesome Flea Market in Shepardsville. There are tents set up with nice tubes to rent. It is $10 if you bring your own float and $15 for an individual float, $30 for a double, and so on. They also have smaller floats to put coolers and things in for $5. Before you get in, they tie you together, suggest you grab a paddle and assist you getting in. The ramp in is paved and even has a nice bar to make hopping on your float flawless. The float does end up being long due to not much current (or it was the particular weekend I went). Also, I did not find the water overly dirty - it's a river, they aren't crystal clear. At the time you could still partake in adult beverage, just be responsible. They have people patrolling the river in a boat in case your float deflates or any other issue. At the end of the float there is a shuttle to take you back and assistance getting floats, trash, yourself out of the river, which is nice. Here are a few tips: 1. Pack water shoes - I cut my toe on a rock getting out toward the end where the water becomes very shallow. 2. Bring sunscreen. There really is not a lot of tree coverage when floating, my poor friend got fried like bacon. 3. Make sure and have a bag for your trash - no one likes a liter bug!

My husband and I always love coming here for our weekend getaway... the river is so peaceful, water…read moreis clear and the kayaks provided are the good spacious kind. Their campsites are nice and right along the river by the ending of the kayaking trip. I love the fire things they provided. They are great for cooking on!! Bathrooms were a quick walk and I love the random decorations they have set out. I was unimpressed with the showers that they provide. I guess it is considered off-season right now because only one of the doors out of four was unlocked and there was poop smeared on the walls and on the floor... I understand not wanting to have to clean four separate showers but leaving one shower for everyone to have to use considering their isn't someone cleaning it daily is unprofessional and inconsiderate. Also, we asked for firewood and saw a pallet of it behind the building but wasn't allowed to purchase any. The hours on the store are flaky and I'm never coming in late April again. We wanted to avoid the crowds but that wasn't a good choice I guess. Also, tent camping left us hearing the neighboring tent guests sounding like hound dogs from midnight until 3 am. I went to sleep about 10 and woke up to sex sounds louder than anything I've ever heard. I was about to go offer them a pair of socks to shove in their mouths. Maybe I'm not meant for this lifestyle if there are no standards

I would highly NOT recommend staying at Still Waters Campground based on my experience with…read moremanagement. Today I rolled through a stop sign in the campground. I understand that was my mistake, and I accepted being told not to do it again. However, what happened afterward was completely unnecessary. Instead of simply speaking with me later at the office or sending a text, management chose to chase me down in a vehicle. I was driving around the campground under the speed limit, yet I was accused of speeding because they claimed they had to drive 30 mph to catch me--even though they had to turn around before following me. What made it even more frustrating was that I was told to "lead by example" while the manager herself admitted to driving around 30 mph in a 10 mph campground just to catch up to me. That felt incredibly hypocritical. What bothered me most was the way the situation was handled. I tried to walk away to avoid escalating the confrontation, but the manager continued arguing with me. She even told me to "go get my boyfriend," as if I couldn't speak for myself. I'm a grown woman and didn't appreciate being dismissed like that. Later, after I had calmed down, my boyfriend and I went to the office so I could apologize for raising my voice and explain my side of the situation. Unfortunately, management wasn't interested in having a productive conversation and came across as condescending and unwilling to listen. It also seems like the rules are enforced inconsistently. We have watched plenty of other people roll through that same stop sign without being stopped or chased down. If safety is truly the concern, the rules should apply EQUALLY to everyone instead of selectively enforcing them. Overall, this experience left a VERY bad impression. A simple warning then walking away could have resolved everything, but instead it turned into an unnecessarily confrontational situation. Customer service and professionalism from management were extremely disappointing.
