Strawberries & Cream Matcha Latte - Iced and Cinnamon Oat Milk Cold Brew Latte
Young K.

Great staff! LOVE their seasonal matcha latte (I got the strawberry and cream one without whipped cream). My husband loved his cinnamon oat cold brew as well. It was our first time here and we will definitely coming back again to try more seasonal drinks!

I should have left a review long ago. Been coming here since my daughter moved to Arlington. Commonwealth Joe's a one of the best coffee shops in the DMV! Great quality drinks and goodies. Nice variety and seasonal options. Staff are always friendly and kind. Don't forget to sign up for their loyalty program. Skip Starbucks, support a small business and check out Commonwealth Joe's.

The Joe here was everything but common! This gorgeous coffee shop was packed on the Saturday morning when I stopped in. They have tons of seating and people were working and chatting amongst all of the beautiful plants. I got their oatmilk coldbrew on tap which was great! They have tons of coffee options so there will definitely be something for everyone. Their pastries were a bit limited so we skipped out on those. The coffees were a bit on the more pricey side but I feel like that's common with the fancy on tap stuff. Bathroom was very clean which is also a huge plus. Definitely recommend stopping in!

Iced Cookie Butter Latte

Perfect place to grab seasonal lattes and coffee. I love the staff here, they're always super friendly. There's also typically a lot of people co-working - they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. For food, stick to the baked items. The ham & cheese croissant is amazing but the breakfast burrito is so bland with no salt/seasoning. Overall would recommend!

This location is cute but the coffee was not very good to me. I would say to give it a try for yourself!

Cherry Blossom Latte - Hot
Fiorella H.

Without any doubt this place serves my favorite seasonal drink of the entire DMV area! Every spring you will see me crawling to get one of their cherry blossom inspired creations (+ the mural and their pink petals decor omg they have me in a chokehold!!!) it's really quite when they don't have their usual morning and lunch rush. Recently I had their Cherry Blossom Hot latte, which is one of the seasonal specials. It's the sweetest of them all (because of the cherry blossom syrup and the condensed milk). It's best hot, although it's prettier cold hahaha. The coffee with the milk swap (almond) ended up being $8 tipped! Might be an insane price, although it's almost about the same I would spend for regular almond milk latte at Starbucks, and it quite doesn't taste as good. This latte is my silly treat of the month. The people next to me ordered the flight, which they kindly let me take some photos of it! I asked them which was their favorite, turned out to be the matcha one! Definitely working on gathering a group of friends to come for their flight. The baristas are really nice and friendly! The place is always clean and has a lovely vibe.

Really cool coffee shop and eclectic vibe! Stopped by here as a first timer today and must say I was impressed. The pour-over I chose was outstanding, full-bodied, full of flavor and the customer service was great. I throughly enjoyed my pour-over and also had a Cookie Butter Latte and something called a Morning Glory Muffin during my visit. I fell in love with both the drink and muffin. OMG, it was so good....It needs to be renamed to the "Hallelujah" Muffin folks. Just try one....warmed....& thank me later! Choir voices were singing in my ears with eat bite. lol The vibe of this coffee is very eclectic, with unique seating and workspaces. The is even a mini office station and meeting space/room equipped with a printer and office supplies to assist you while taking in a bit of telework....while enjoying your coffee. Well, I'll put it this way. The perfect place to keep your productivity high. It appeared that the printer and office supplies were available for your use.....but don't quote me by it....nor the posted-note I used while there. lol. The place is completely wired and offers free WiFi connectivity as well. I will say...a couple of the outlets in the shop was broken or not working, but this is not a deterrent. Just make sure you have a back charger or something if you are stay long or need extra juice. In all, a great coffee shop and really cool atmosphere. From the great coffee products, unique work spaces, relaxing environment, on-point music flow and snacks.....this place gets two Big-Thumbs Up from me! I mean who knew!? I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and time here. I've seen this place several times when I would make a stop at the Whole Foods next-door, but never bothered to venture in and see what's inside. Well today., I found a new coffee spot in the VA area that I will be frequenting on repeat when on this side of town or in the neighborhood. Will definitely be back.

Popped in here for a morning coffee and decided on a cappuccino. It was the perfect blend of taste and coffee. Enjoyed it so much and can't wait to be back tomorrow morning to try one of their seasoned coffees. The atmosphere is calming and the decor is tropical modern decor that is perfect for the coffee aesthetic lovers!

I thought the coffee here was decently good! Friendly service. Cute vibes inside. Definitely a place I would go back. Only down side is that I thought the price was a bit steep

This was such a good find for us while in town for the weekend. We went here two mornings in a row! Their breakfast burritos were delicious and a perfect breakfast. Their coffee was great and the staff was super friendly. The girl who rang us up the first day was really helpful with us figuring out their menu. I got an iced coconut s'mores latte the first time and a cookie butter latte the second time. DEFINITELY GET THE COOKIE BUTTER! I wish I could pick this place up and bring it home with me. Such a cute shop and their decor changes with the seasons.

I stopped by Commonwealth Joe and treated myself to their coffee flight and yes, it was absolutely worth it. I tried the Coconut S'mores Latte, Salted Lavender White Mocha, and Piña Colada Cold Foam. All three were delicious, but the Piña Colada Cold Foam didn't really hit flavor-wise like I expected, it was subtle. That said, the coffee itself was strong, smooth and flavorful across the board, which I loved. It gave me the perfect boost while I got a little work done. The space is open, calm, and perfect for working or relaxing. It wasn't too loud and the natural light from the windows made it feel welcoming. I'll be back to grab another lavender white mocha :)

Toasted Peppermint White Mocha - Iced Almond Croissant
Kaya A.

Genuinely feels so welcoming. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by the beautiful festive decor. Looking back on older reviews I can see that they don't just decorate for the holidays, every season is celebrated here. I ordered the Toasted Peppermint White Mocha iced. I heard great things about the seasonal drinks here and the hype is real. The flavors are very creative, sometimes you just want a dessert coffee. Shoutout to my helpful barista, Christina, for guiding me through my order! She suggested to get my drink half sweet & that was definitely the way to go. The service was great. The number one thing I look for in coffee shops is if they feel like a third place, and this place passes my test. Came here to finish up the semester & I will be ordering another drink on my way out.

I currently have the opportunity to work remote twice a week, and I am on the hunt to find the best places to work from in the Arlington and Alexandria area! Today I took a capital bike share ride to Commonwealth Joe and it was an absolute delight! I am giving it five stars because the customer service, coffee, and overall atmosphere of Commonwealth. Joe were amazing. Upon ordering my (first) drink, the barista was very excited and seemingly just as interested in my first experience as I was when deciding what to order, they helped me describe the drinks that I was indecisive on and per my flavor profile helped me pick the blueberry honey Matcha ice latte! It was the perfect pick as it was very light and refreshing! They had cherry blossom decorations, all throughout the coffee shop while still keeping to their own unique industrial vibe, which I really appreciated in terms of working out of the coffee shop. They had bar window seating with ample outlets, which is a big kudos to them in my eyes while also having multiple tables both in and outdoors for catching up with friends or grabbing a quick bite with coworkers. I will give it a eight out of 10 on my own personal scale in terms of work ability as it was a bit noisy due to the high volume of traffic, so if you have a lot of meetings through out the day this may not be the place for you, but if not then I highly recommend!I will also say the high volume of traffic is a great sign of how fantastic their coffee and pastries are. Overall, I had a great experience and productive workday at Commonwealth Joe and look forward to returning soon as they had a lot of advertisement for summer starting soon with new seasonal drinks! P.S they also offer a growlers for their coffee as well as latte cartons and boxed nitro cold brew coffee, which is a great perk in my eyes!

How long does a latte carton stay fresh once opened?

Are they allowing indoor seating?

I was there on Saturday, June 13 and didn't see any indoor seating. Things change daily though.

With an impressively high Yelp rating, I was disappointed to hear the new owners say the glowing reviews are from the previous owner (though I respect the honesty). Despite that, we really enjoyed our visit. The new owners live up to the legacy. First of all, the service is excellent. An older man makes the food and who I assume is his daughter takes the orders. Both are kind. At the end, she gave my daughter a granola bar for free. The menu is a mix of Korean food and the small market in the back sells Korean products and more. It's very fun to browse and pick up some snacks and treats. My daughter loved the juicy grape fruit snacks. To eat, we ordered the Japanese curry and milk tea. Both were full of flavor and made with love. "This is my new favorite meal of all time," said my daughter. She devoured the bowl herself! There's a small parking lot in front of the cafe. It's within walking distance from the Crystal City Metro.

Who knew that there would be a cafe in Pentagon City with this option? The interior is a bit cramped with many cardboard boxes piling up. We were able to order the food at the counter and waited about 5-10 minutes before the food was ready. BRAISED PORK OVER RICE (卤肉饭) - 15.49 Lots of rice, more rice than I could finish with the amount of braised pork belly they give. The pork was very fatty, which made it tasty and juicy, but it wasn't very saucy. There were two halves of a bokchoy and half of an incredibly boiled egg, which was meh. Still, I finished all the toppings and maybe a little less than half of the rice. I was full, but $15.49 for the food was not worth it. Overall, 3.5/5 but bump it to a 4/5 since there's a scarcity of food like this in the area. They sell other comfort Asian dishes too, like coconut chicken cutlet rice and Japanese eel rice.

I was there at 8am and only had about a 5 minute wait to be helped. I ordered an iced latte and a blueberry muffin. This cost about $15 which was pretty steep. The inside of this location was very clean with bright lighting. The barista was helpful and kind. There was only one person working (making coffee and handling payment). I would recommend atleast 2 people to be working since I saw the line get much longer after I was served. I made my way to the lobby where there is plenty of seating. My latte was good and gave me the pep I needed for the day. The blueberry muffin was very disappointing. It was really cold, almost as if it had just came out of a refrigerator. I wouldn't mind a room temperature muffin but I did not like it cold. Also, there was only about 5 blueberries throughout the whole muffin. I don't think this should constitute as a blueberry muffin. With the high price for it, I felt like it was not worth it.

The first time we got coffee and food and it was legit. Five star rating. That was back in early fall so I'd be remiss to try and remember everything. So I'm just going to review today's visit. We stopped in after a day in Alexandria, and the metro was down in crystal city so we had to walk, bus, metro, shuttle hop and repeat. So a busy day. We just wanted a good solid coffee. And a good solid coffee is what we got. The place was low key, despite it being happy hour time (4-8 every day), and Valentine's Day. Which totally fine by me, I don't love crowds encroaching in my personal space. We got a cute little table by the door and helped ourselves to the coffee station area that had some water while waiting to order at the kiosk (you can order at the counter or the kiosk). He got a cafe con leché (hot) (espresso steamed milk and sweet cuban crema) and I got a cortadito (espresso steamed evaporated milk and sweet Cuban crema). Both were phenomenal and hit the spot after a long day. Would highly recommend. I'm eyeballing getting a couple bags of their fresh roasted coffee beans to go home when I leave.

I've never had an authentic café con leche in Cuba or Puerto Rico, since I haven't visited these…read morecountries before. And the last time I had a café con leche was at a Dunkin' Donuts near Palm Beach around a decade ago. I'm not kidding. I was so amused that they offered these at a drive-thru window and my commercialized DD version wasn't bad. But, as I've traveled, my best option for a getting something close to a café con leche is just to request one, know that it won't be exact but/and keep your fingers crossed. Or - at least - order a café au lait. I'm no coffee snob so feel free to comment here. Wiki taught me that café con leches are made with scalded milk vs. steamed. And sugar cane is used in the grounds or the brew. This actual café con leche - at Crystal City's Colada Shop - is somehow the most authentic café con leche which I could reference drinking, in awhile now. I mean, I have had a few around Florida cafes, awhile back. At the Colada Shop register, you can order a regular café con leche or a 'sweeter' version. Hmmm ... how blessedly simple vs. and the mounds of adjectives I myself use when at a Starby's. I was assured that the sweeter version she offered was more gentle than it sounded, and she was correct. My steaming Cuban coffee was strong and not overpoweringly sweet. Like, I was relieved that I had ordered it sweet because otherwise I might have not been woman enough to drink it. The flavors of this beverage were complex. Rich and deeply smoky. This coffee was not like a Vietnamese coffee with a strong French roast and sweet cream. These flavors were more like - I don't have the culinary knowledge to say - like a deep, strong Cuban brew. I know that probably doesn't help. I enjoyed the beautiful, bright colors, the music and sips of my lovely and seriously respectable coffee, to go, here. The service was excellent. Each of the three team members I spoke with were all friendly and helpful. I liked my coffee and especially appreciated being able to find an establishment which markets and serves café con leches, Cuban-style. When I asked the Colada Shop employee what the most popular hot drinks were here, she said - obviously - its namesake Café con Leche, and secondly, the Carrot Cake con Leche coffee drink. Yes, please. She said the Dulce de Leche coffee is the third most popular drink here and her description of it as fabulous with the caramel and steamed milk. Well, there are at least two reasons to go back to the Colada Shop at Crystal City!
