This place is incredibly overpriced, food is not fresh, they barely have a menu and then most of the already minuscule menu is "out". They have a rewards program where you enter your phone number, but the cashier always skips passed, it not allowing you to earn for your purchase. And lastly, not only do they constantly tell you where you can and can't sit because they want to clean an area that doesn't need cleaning, they also literally clean around you while you are eating. Commons cafe is very convenient if you are working or visiting somewhere in the teleport. It is the only place you can get a quick bite to eat without having to drive a few minutes or pay for delivery. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat, they have a salad bar, burgers, sandwiches and more. You have a lot to pick from. Their food usually tastes really good, but the prices are a little high. I guess you are paying for convenience. I also feel like the portions have gotten a bit smaller recently, but I am always full by the end of my lunch, so it is not a huge problem. They also recently started a rewards program to reward those daily or weekly customers. I'll definitely be back in the future. read more

The business is bad and the lady with short hair is really rude to the kids who go to the school next door. She always making mean comments to the kids and customers. When theit was two teens and one buying something the workers would try to push them out which is very rude. Their breakfast isn't that good either and way to expensive for something thats not even good. The bagels be rock solid toast and very hard and painful to bite. Their hash browns are very oily and real bad to eat something that oily in the morning. Also when you want something like wrap in the morning to save for like lunch or whatever the lady would tell you that it's to early and will not sell it to you. I ordered a avocado spread on toast and it was blah... had no taste at all... My one son ordered a ham & cheese sandwich and he said it was nasty... like seriously how can you mess up a ham & cheese sandwich... It's the only place to get food when I'm at school. Without having to drive. The quality of the food is not really consistent. My go to wrap is usually the chicken avocado wrap. Half the time I get it, it's cold and the other half is perfect.. Usually my foods perfect when the usual guy that works there takes my order. I don't know his name but he's so friendly and gives top notch service! I usually like my wraps with no onions and he would make it fresh for me everytjme! The other workers would tell me they can't make it fresh for me with no onions because all the wraps are pre made already. And when the other workers take my order the chicken is always cold... Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is cause of the friendly guy that works here! Food can be pricey for us broke nursing students lol Clean. Gives all its profits to charity. This is a great little cafe. Came here after a meeting in the office building right around the corner and was pleased with the vast selection of salads, wraps, burgers. I got a chicken avocado wrap with fries. The chicken was just cooked and it was so delicious with the avocado. I got a heaping plate of fries to go with it...so crispy. My bossman ordered a salad and it was huge - you get to choose five different salad toppings, each additional topping was $0.50 more. Overall, a great experience. Its nice that they donate 100% of their profits to the local community. As far as office building cafes go, this one was one of the best. The Commons cafe used to be good. The food was good but the prices were always high. The portion sizes, the quality and the service used to make up for it, not to mention the donation to charity. It was great. Now, this place is being run into the ground. Every time I eat there I always shake my head in disbelief and vow to make that meal my last, and then go back again because I work in one of the adjacent buildings and it is super convenient to be able to grab something and go back to work. Today, I decided to post a picture of the bagel I received. The first bite should have been enough of an indication of how bad it actually was. HOW can you mess up a bagel with cream cheese AND bacon? Doesn't bacon make everything better?? I took a bite of my last half of the bagel and tasted nothing so decided to open it and surprise, surprise, almost nothing inside and two skinny strips of bacon. I got a latte to go with it and everything was $11. $11? For this? This isn't the first time the food has not been good and/or thrown together with no pride at all. And good luck complaining, every time I've done so I've felt unheard and not taken seriously. Well that's OK, this is the last time they get my money. This place is absolute garbage. The customer service is beyond poor and the Manager/ supervisor is THE rudest women i have ever met. She lacks people skills. She is condescending and ill equip to be the face of the business. The old manager chris knew how to be courteous and kind and was capable of building a good rapport with the patrons. This new women is making enemies left and right. Numerous times you can hear the staff complaining about her and what is worst is the way she speaks to them and about them. I uses to come here every morning for an ice coffee and a bagel. The bagels are no longer fresh and the coffee is a step above a decaf tea This place is a last resort. AWFUL experience. What happened to this place? A problem with the cafe in the past was the unresponsive and often disrespectful staff but the food was actually well made. It was good, this was around winter 2017. I went back today and to say it was mediocre would be an understatement. The ''commons'' burger was served on cold bread that was served on hastily wrapped aluminum foil cover, the burger was flat and lifeless, and the ''sauce'' was just mustard smeared with pickles and tomato. 6.50 for THAT and it to 4 minutes to make and serve? Disgusting. The staff at a McDonalds and 7-11 are friendlier (and trust me, I went there too.), so rude and unenthusiastic, as if serving the customer was a chore. I went with my mother too, she ordered avocado on multi grain toast with tomatoes. It was bland, no taste whatsoever. A very basic and lackluster meal. How much was that? 14 dollars. Wow. A place that advertises itself with a charity number on their door, colorful yellow decor and overpriced food that looks better in the pictures? You are better off going to Panera for decent food that isn't fast food. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT spend your money here. You deserve BETTER. read more

Where should i start? the parking lot is always gated off and way to large for the size of the cafe. the prices are absolutely OUTRAGEOUS for what you get. lunch should not cost 18 dollars unless you are enjoying some delicious cuisine in NYC. i paid over 3 dollars for a root beet and over 9 for a corn muffin and a coffee. the food is horrible, the burgers need to be eaten with a fork and knife due to the sloppy mess they serve people ( everything falls right off the bun). i just dont get it. the only reason they are in business is because parking is so tight in the lots that people in the building are forced to eat there. i will never go back and give them business again. it is the equivalent of paying for a luxury car and taking public transportation. read more

Very over priced for under cooked gelatinous eggs . They seem to struggle with the most basic items such as toast , it's a fairly simple recipe , heat and bread makes toast . We came here yesterday after a doctors appointment. We were so pleasantly surprised but the quality of the food and the service by the manager. The idea of the cafe is that they donate all profits back to Staten Island, while providing good food to the customers. Good was fresh and tasty, salads are made to order with lots of toppings and sandwiches looked incredible. Even better is that you know your money is being used for a good cause. I don't know how anyone could complain about prices here, clearly any extra money is used for the community, so stop complaining cheap people. They also had an 8 under 8 selection, so order something on there if you are concerned about price. Would def go back! read more
