When it comes to fudge, I've never had better. Every fudge I try is measured against the perfection…read moreof the Straw Cellar's fudge. It's exceptionally creamy, never grainy, very flavorful but not too sickly sweet... it's just amazing. Favorites of mine are plain ol' chocolate, which is divine, and Penuche (pen-u-chee) which is a rich brown sugar flavor that's really hard to find outside of New England. It's $12 a pound, but that gets you a lot and is about par for the course as far as fudge prices go. They'll give you little samples too if you're finding it hard to choose between their 10+ flavors. Bottom line- THIS IS THE BEST FUDGE IN THE WORLD GO GET YOU SOME NOW.

Every time we visit Wolfeboro, we visit Black's Paper Store. It is simply a fun place to explore…read more The selection is great and I love that they carry high quality incense sticks. I found some really nice key rings upstairs on sale and they have made fun gifts for family and friends. My spouse is a librarian and Black's sells a variety of games and toys that add so much to a library. Location is great and even during peak seasons, like spring and summer, we've always found parking within walking distance. The customer service is friendly and helpful and they have some good sales and clearance items too. On our most recent visit on Veteran's Day, we found some winter gloves and a gift for a friend. Thanks for making our visits to town, so much fun!

On a postcard and would change color I BELIEVE from BLUE to an ORANGISH color 'when a change is due'. The Hansel and Gretel Shop carried them as well. I still have some of my Cats Meow wooden 'structures' of Blacks (of course), Julie's Dress Shop, Melvin Village Church and Calefs. It was great fun to go by boat to get the Sunday paper, at LEAST one pack of gum/candy to split between us kiddos and then enough donut holes from the Yum Yum Shop to last the boat ride back to 19 Mile Bay and then MAYBE one bag for family that did not go on the boat ride!! I had a Wolfeboro 'Oldest Summer Resort in America' for years when I lived in SoCal. Blacks was/is a rite of passage for many of us Baby Boomers!!

This posting is for New Berry's on the Common gift store…read more New Berry's on the Common is a unique gift store offering handcrafted goods, artwork, NH made products, gifts, toys, books, soaps, jewelry, decorations, and vintage merchandise. This shop also features JJ's Breakfast & Lunch Counter which offers casual dining and takeout. This place is a tribute to the former JJ Newberry's store with lunch counter from back in the day. I stopped by New Berry's to browse after eating lunch at JJ's Counter. This place sort of reminds me of Capitol Craftsman in Concord where handcrafted goods, jewelry and artwork are also sold. I did pickup up some cool glasses to wear in a couple of weeks, wink. I will have to stop back when the weather gets warmer.

It's fun to walk around but honestly it's too expensive for what they have. Im not laying 15 dollars for pants from target that were 24 dollars brand new 6 years ago. I have the same pants at home in a different color. I saw a 40 year old tape player for 20 dollars. I go to many thrift shops all over. I live in LA and it seems to be the going trend. One person decides what someone's garbage is worth. When running a thrift shop you have decide how much you want people to spend each visit. Let's say it's 50 dollars. People buy things that they feel they are getting a huge deal on. And before they know it they have spent 50 dollars "but hey I got 10-12 things!! Thrift shops are the reason people go, "ooh look at my deal" they don't want to feel like they are being ripped off. I saw a change purse that my grandmother would use. Ten dollars. Really? Thats pure insanity.

After getting an unprofessional comment to another review, I decided to put my review here as well…read more I like this store. It has everything you could imagine and then some. The store was reorganized in the last year and is far easier to navigate and explore. However, there are a lot of items in the basement section which either have no prices or the tag vanished. It happens. I have brought items upstairs and asked for a price. Those prices are always higher than it seems they should be. For example, there was a bin of spools of thread marked a quarter. I picked a few but none were priced. I was charge fifty cents although I told the clerk how there were marked. This has happened with other items including glassware. After my review, I got a response saying that I should have made an offer. How was I supposed to know that? No sign. Nothing from the clerk. With regard to the thread, I told her what the bin said and she doubled the price anyway. Great shop. Amazing variety. The staff is the problem here.

Mill Falls Marketplace is one of those places where you can easily tell yourself you're just going…read moreto stop for a few minutes, and then an hour later you're still wandering around looking at things. It is a quaint little collection of shops in Meredith, and the setting is what really makes it special. You have the lake right there, the waterfall running through the property, little walkways and gardens, and all these small shops tucked around it. It has a very distinctly New Hampshire feel. There is a surprisingly good variety considering how compact the Marketplace is. There's a candy store that feels like a step back in time, a bakery, clothing and gift shops, a bookstore, ice cream, coffee, and places to pick up souvenirs and Lake Winnipesaukee-themed shirts and other local items. I especially like that you can browse without feeling like you're walking through some generic shopping center. Everything feels connected to the lake and the town. The candy store is particularly fun if you're with kids, although I'll admit you don't really need to be a kid to enjoy walking into a place filled with candy and old-fashioned treats. There are also plenty of places to find a shirt, gift, or little souvenir that actually reminds you where you were. That's much more appealing to me than buying some anonymous souvenir that could have come from anywhere. And then there is the waterfall. Take a few minutes to walk over the bridge and look down at the falls, then wander toward the lake and take in the view. The combination of the water, the shops, the older architecture and the little paths gives the whole place a wonderful back-in-time feeling. It's easy to imagine spending a summer afternoon here years ago, browsing a small shop, getting something sweet, and then sitting near the water for a while. The shop owners and people working in the stores were friendly and welcoming, which also adds to the experience. Nobody made browsing feel like a chore or pressured us to buy anything. It felt much more like wandering around a small local marketplace where you're welcome to look around and enjoy yourself. This is a particularly good stop for families because there is enough here to keep kids interested, especially the candy and ice cream, while adults can browse the clothing, books, gifts and local merchandise. You can make it a quick stop to see the falls, or spend considerably longer wandering around the different shops. If you're visiting Meredith, I'd definitely put Mill Falls Marketplace on the list. It's not a giant shopping destination, and that's precisely the point. It's charming, local, scenic and just a lot of fun to walk around. Grab a treat, look at the shops, take a picture by the waterfall and enjoy the lake. Sometimes the little places are the ones that end up being the most memorable.

Saw the craft festival while driving by so decided to stop. What a gem we found!…read more First of all the craft fair was super cool. It was hosted in the parking lot of the Marketplace, and from what I can gather it's a weekly thing. The vendor selling the fresh kettle corn was amazing, as well as a ton of neat artists. We discovered this marketplace is home to numerous local businesses. These include a bookstore, candy store, Italian restaurant, and a variety of apparel shops. There's also a Ben & Jerry's here. ;) The Market Place itself spasn across 7 buildings according to the directory, however it appears that the main building is attached to the Inn and is where the Waterfall is located. It's a cool spot to explore for couple hours to explore before grabbing a bite to eat. It's conveniently located across tve steeet from Meredith Bay and the famous Meredith Sculpture walk featuring local artists. Definitely recommend stopping here.
