This has been our main grocery store for years, however, I prefer organic produce and humanely raised meat, so I buy these items elsewhere. Great for saving money on cereal, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, canned goods, etc... I have two major complaints... First, it is processed foods in overdrive. You run into displays of soda and chips as you walk in the door. You often have to go through all the processed foods before reaching the produce. Second, the plastic bags are overkill!!! I usually bring my own bags (wish more people did). They find every excuse to take something in its own plastic package and then wrap it up in plastic bags before placing in reusable bags. This drives me crazy! I usually offer higher tips if no plastic bags are used. I know the baggers wages are the tips and they depend on them. Wish the person who trains the baggers would ease up on the plastic bags. read more

I don't really understand why the ratings for this commissary are so low. I've been coming here for a year, and really haven't had any major issues. The only time they seem particularly low on stock is when there are nationwide shortages, which is not really their fault. It gets busy at the predictable times-weekends and around payday. I haven't had any negative interactions with any cashiers or baggers. I don't understand why people choose Safeway and King Sooper's over the commissary- it's tax-free and they accept coupons. read more

I started shopping here recently. I am European, and I love the German products they carry. Prices are great, it is clean, and convenient.

The Army has finally come through. I never believed that this place was that much of a savings. Well......After three years of shopping at Safeway I ashamed to say that I'm an idiot for not shopping here every time. Our average grocery bill at Safeway was around 275 if we were absolutely out of everything. Coming to the commissary we bought a little more than we normally do and we walked out spending 199.00. This new facility is really nice and seems like the size of Costco. The produce is extremely fresh and the cleanliness makes it really enjoyable to shop here. They have a terrible selection of steaks but that seems to be on par for all grocery stores. The best bonus of this commissary is they make fresh sushi in the deli section. This isn't just your run of the mill Cali Roll. They had some crazy concoctions that looked like restaurant quality....even though I doubt it is. read more

Military life requires some social and emotional intelligence given the many hardships they endure. I'm surprised many of the employees who are spouses of active duty members or retirees don't collect hazardous duty pay given the stress of its customers who seem perpetually angry and some deservedly so. (Military Life isn't easy for anybody associated with it.) That said, I hate it when people can't read and delay things for everyone else standing in line. POSTED Signs clearly state policy and procedures; Show ID, the number of items allowed per lane and forms of payment accepted or NOT accepted on some lanes, like WIC or EBT. Also, each individual screen at the self-check out also states whether or not it accepts cash. (depending on availability.) I've waited in line with many shoppers who were totally unprepared knowing they need their ID card, coupons, bank card or cash. They hang on their cell phones, ignore their kids, take their time and disregard posted signs while being smug if someone says something, no matter how polite. Stop being that obnoxious and rude customer most of us hate being around. It reflects on you and nobody is impressed. I personally am very glad when employees enforce policies and procedures to retain expedient service. They have limited staff per OPM and DeCA. It's not WALMART and you are on a Federal Installation where standards of conduct apply whether you like it or not, right or wrong. We can't let ourselves get distracted by individuals whose problems need the attentions of a three-star general or the military police and then complain. You know who you are and when your ID card gets swiped, they can find out who you are. read more

The facility itself is massive with plenty of room for goods. That being said, it seems like there is always stocking going on at all hours of the day, and don't even bother coming during peak hours like lunch or after paydays. The place us packed to the point you can barley move. Prices are overall ok, plenty of stuff goes on sale regularly like fruit and frozen items but overall the prices for most items are cheaper at Walmart. Yet, I still shop here regularly because of the convenience. The self checkout is a disaster, always taking a super long time to work, that coupled with long lines of people trying to avoid the awkwardness of not wanting to give baggers money makes me avoid it most of the time. Overall not a bad place, actually one of the nicest I've seen stateside but with the new Walmart that just opened across from Pikes Peak CC you may just want to shop there. read more

As far as prices go this is a good place to get canned goods, cereal, pasta, yogurt and other packaged items. I only buy produce here if I plan on eating it in the next one or two days because it won't last after that. Make sure you pay attention to the expiration dates, especially in the dairy section. There's been many times where I have found expired yogurts. I've even brought them to the attention of the person stocking, but they just put them back on the shelf. Also, call before you go to verify their hours since the posted hours on their website sometimes do not match their operating hours. Your typical military commissary. It is large and in charge. The prices are decent compared to off post but you can find some really good deals there. I love the sushi that is made there. For 8.70, you can find a great deal without going to a restaurant and having to waste time and sit down. Especially if you only have a short time for lunch. Another great deal is on the naked juices. They are around 1.85, which off post I've seen them for around 4 dollars. So if you pay attention to what you are buy and compare, you can get great deals. read more

We are relocating from VA and only give you 3 stars because there is work that can be done. This is not the best commissary I seen, we had Fort Belvoir and for the size of the post we could compare. I think availability could be due to the fact that many locations still trying to restock after COVIT? I imagine when orders are placed you look at what people buys the most? Supply chain is limited? Not sure, reading the reviews makes you wonder. Small pleasantries like smiling and showing care for others seem forgotten here. Prices aren't typically cheaper than those at WalMart. Also, they have baggers who sometimes guilt you into giving them tips. Otherwise, the convenience and cleanliness of the facility are top notch. read more

The commissary and staff are excellent. No complaint there! However, this evening when finished shopping, I was very concerned that all lights in the parking light were not operational. I walked out approximately 7:55-right at closing time and the parking lot was pitch black! The bagger said the lights have been out for several days. This is a huge safety concern for me! Mostly, I am frustrated that they do their stocking at a weird time of the day so that the shelves always seem half empty. This is a nice, newer commissary. I just wish the shelves were more stocked. Make sure you check the expiration dates as lot of items on the shelf are expired. Some of the baggers are very nice but others are very rude. The customer service desk is always friendly. They aren't generally too crowded unless it is a payday, weekend or holiday. It's big. But wish they would stock the shelves more. Some stuff need to be checked more as it is almost expired. Try to avoid paydays and after work hours. Also one of the self checkout lady is very rude and mean, I got bitched at for using coupons and not telling her I had any, which she told me "I asked you if you had any coupons and you said no!", mind you she didn't ask me as she wasn't the one who checked my id at the beginning of the self checkout line. read more
