Their business model is trapping senior care facilities into multi-year contracts that you cannot get out of. They're not proud of offering magazines or providing anything of interest. This "business" is a scam that takes advantage of senior care/living facilities. NEVER speak to them on the phone. I recommend going to magazine companies directly for any subscriptions rather than using this 3rd party who will certainly try to take advantage of you. Commercial Readers Service is one of, if not the worst companies I have ever dealt with. Misleading advertising, scamming customers, and stand by a "verbal Contract" regardless of who answer the phone. Check Better Business Bureau, one star or less. Absolutely one of the worst companies I have ever had to deal with, and I work with FTD and 1800flowers on a regular bases so that is saying something. They charge you well after your contract is up and then when you do a charge back they accuse you of reupping your contract. I never reupped anything of any kind with them. I should've read all the reviews before i made an order with them. Omg! They are such a scammer. I think when i order it was cheaper and i also didn't know that I can't cancel it. Bad, Bad company. I bought a business which had Commercial Readers service. I cancelled the service because I didn't want it, didn't think it was appropriate for my business. They told me I couldn't cancel. They keep threatening me with collection calls. I am not responsible for this contract. It was entered into by the previous owner. I am the new owner, and I am not responsible because: 1) My contract requires the previous owner to cancel all vendors and leave a zero balance. 2) My contract contains language that requires me to get my own vendors. 3) My contract reads I am buying this business "free and clear of any liabilities, liens, encumbrances, attachments, impositions, rights, rights of way, governmental imposition or other burdens as follows"...... There's more but I won't bore you. This has all been explained to them at least 5 times. They still try to tell me I am responsible, even though I have given them the above language over the phone numerous times. I am now in the process of sending them the appropriate sections of my purchase agreement to their office, highlighted.. in case they can't read(although you would think reading would be a requirement if you worked for a magazine company). Then, they can go pound sand. If they continue, I will take further steps that they will not like. read more

The company called me on the phone as I was scrambling to start up my golf course. It was a HUGE mistake in saying yes to what they had to offer. Once I started receiving the magazines, I realized what a bad deal it was . They verbally lock you in for 2 years at $20.00 per month. They told me that I would receive 8 different magazines, but I don't remember it and many of the magazines were unrelated to golf. Several magazines did start coming. For instance, I can get a 2 year subscription to GOLF MAGAZINE for $50. That is about $2 per month. I did not pay a penny for the subscription and this is important. If you pay, then the contract has consideration and you may have to continue to pay. They begin calling bi weekly and it lead to weekly calls. The salesman would confront me with a..you better pay....you agreed to this...this is NOT how it works....message. I told him to quit calling and cancel my subscription. This did not work. In fact, I asked him to send me their cancellation policy and they could not produce one. It got to the point of harrassment and I sounded off several times on the phone refusing to pay and requesting they cancel my subscription, but the calls kept coming. I finally contacted our Attorney General's office in the state I live in. They sent correspondence to Commercial Reader Services and a couple months later I got a letter from our Attorney General's office that the matter had been resolved and that they had cancelled my account. SO THEY WILL ACTUALLY CANCEL YOUR ACCOUNT NO MATTER WHAT THE REPRESENTATIVE SAYS. They copied the letter Commercial Readers sent. It was laced with mis-truths and labled me as aggressive and yelling on the phone. Hmmmm, wonder how that happened. Anyway, if you think there is no way out, seek LEGAL ASSISTANCE, it's the only way. Oh, and I did point out the extrememly negative reviews online. Warn your employees of companies such as this. Signing up was definitely our fault. An unsuspecting and unauthorized employee signed up for this by telephone recording, which created the contract. This employee thought she was authorized into this kind of agreement but after her direct supervisor found out, she realized that a 24-month agreement should have been sought out for approval. Anyway, there is no way to cancel the order after the phone recording/contract is made. I think I understand why cancellations can's be made since they pre-pay to the publishing companies to lock in the rate. However, there is no forgiveness clause for a situation like ours. From what this employee said, the sales rep was very pushy. We are stuck with them for 24 months. The customer service representative that I spoke with said that the contract does not automatically renew - there's a plus side. In fairness, the rep I spoke with was professional and informative. It was, however, evident that they're used to these types of phone calls, because his answer was very thorough, detailed, and, by experience, practiced. read more
