Door to room.

So I thought if I booked a hotel in Oakbrook Terrace it would be a safe establishment for a single woman traveling alone. Not so! This hotel is in need of obvious repairs but I'm going to focus on feeling secure. My room door locks weren't aligned and the outside doors did not have working locks. Parking my car in the lot was scary because I could hear voices from the 3rd floor and the smell of weed present. Not sure if I should be concerned about the people outside or the people inside the hotel. Paper taped over light sensors, broken ironing board, ice machine broken on 2nd floor. Awful breakfast mostly workers eating. The address is Oakbrook Terrace but don't let the address fool you!!!

I am writing to formally request an immediate refund for my stay at Comfort Suites in Villa Park due to the extremely unsanitary and unacceptable conditions I encountered. Upon checking into my room, I was appalled to find multiple health and cleanliness violations, including: * Bugs throughout the room * Stained furniture, carpet and bedding * Sticky residue on the walls * Disgusting smells and cigarette smell * Water dripping from the ceiling of mold and onto the floor This level of filth is entirely unacceptable and poses serious health risks. I immediately brought these concerns to the front desk, but no adequate resolution was provided. Due to the unsanitary conditions, I was forced to leave and seek alternative accommodations. Given the severity of these issues, I demand a full and immediate refund. If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will have no choice but to escalate my complaint to corporate management, health authorities, and online review platforms. Please process my refund as soon as possible and confirm via email. I expect a response within 24 hours. Booking on Nov. 15-17 2024 Booked through hotels.com We had one room and switched to another. No offer of another room. The manager never called back. This is such a stressing and under duress situation this caused for my family. I booked your hotel to be close for my daughter's theater performances for the weekend.

I've patronized this establishment a few times. I've never had an issue any time I've ever been here. Front desk is always very courteous. Their suites are really clean and tidy. I do enjoy the fact that they have free breakfast from 6 to 9 in the morning with eggs, sausage, toast, cereal, yogurt, and fresh fruit you name it for the price of their suites this hotel is a good deal. they also have a pool on the lower level of the hotel. I've never been but I have yet to get there. The times that I've been here before they used to have a deposit of $50 now they've raised it to 100 so that's just something to be aware of for some people that may wanna come here just to let them know.

stains on couch

absolutely disgusting, rooms do NOT look like what they appear online. The pictures used online must've been from the first day this place was ever opened because the rooms are stained everywhere. Our toilet was broken in our first room, so they had to switch over to what they called an "upgrade" if anything it was even more disgusting. Bathrooms are disgusting and our tub drain was filled with hair. There was no hand soap in our bathroom. The water from the sink tastes like iron. There are windows by the front door so if open you can see into others rooms. The ceilings have black areas on them. The double doors that close off the beds from the couch room don't close properly and are an inch off the ground, ours even had a spring popping out of the top of the door. Mysterious stains on the curtains.

Kids had a blast in the pool.

The reservation check in took a while like if their wasn't a reservation made weeks ago. We paid extra to have the pool, bar & arcade area to our selves. Nothing was set up, the arcade was never opened. By the time we got in the pool it was almost 6:30pm. The keys would not work to access the pool or room. Maintenance came to set up the table's after I went back up there. The pool is smaller than I expected. The room bathroom tub doesn't look clean as it has stained and hair on side lines, we live nearby so definitely bathing at home. Toilets are super low and small. The room for the space has all the essentials and 2tv's one in 2nd room and then in bedroom is plus. Everything is well packed in the room. They accommodated us, but it was a constant back and forth. The staff was pleasant. My party had a great time overall, celebrating my sons bday, during this pandemic. It was nice to be able to watch the kids from the bar/lounge area (where food is allowed). Just having this area to ourselves during this pandemic was very nice, I know their trying to do what they can to survive as a business.

Alex is very authoritative and extremely rude. This is our 4th stay here at this hotel and we've loved it the first 3 times but not anymore. The other guy on the night shift is super awesome but unfortunately don't recall his name. Hopefully management digs into this. I'll also be writing to corporate as well. Unacceptable customer service overall.

they don't deserve any stars i had to give that just to write a review do not stay at this hotel.... i was there on march 5th 2022 & one of my family members were bitten by a bed bug ... they asked if we wanted them to change the linen when i called to the front desk... my family & i immediately checked out at 1:45am the manager mo & general manager are taking the bed bug situation lightly & don't care & act like this is normal for them .. they claimed the pest control came out & found nothing. sooooooo that means there could be a potential bedbug infestation since they "didn't find anything" but there was clearly a bed bug there .. comfort suites inn in oakbrook terrace

Booked through a third party site and got a pretty decent price on the the room for 3 nights. The room we booked has 2 double beds and a separate sitting area divided by a door. There are 2 tv's, a microwave, a refrigerator, and a hide-a-bed. The hide-a-bed, as a bed is super uncomfortable and wouldn't want anyone to have to sleep on it, I could feel all of the springs. We have stayed in Oakbrook Terrace multiple times in the past and always have felt safe and there a lot of shopping and restaurant options in the area. You can access a lot of freeways and you are about 20 minutes from downtown. They are currently in the middle of a remodel, but it doesn't seem too dirty or loud from the construction. The areas that I visited seem nice. Breakfast was pretty good and they had a decent selection. Fresh made Belgium waffles, yogurt, cereals, fruits, breads and muffins, etc. They also have a protein (ham, sausage, etc) and eggs. I felt it was pretty well stocked, clean and the service lady was super nice. The parking lot seemed a little small, and it is one-way. In the front where you park to check in, there are a few parking places. There is a sign that says not to block the drive, but of course there was a car parked in the drive so I had to go in to find out who blocked the drive so I could park.

I can see where they are trying to go, but it's not there. The place is in disrepair if you pay attention at all (cracks, holes, chipped paint), a crappy elevator, there's even random crap thrown in a corner still in view of guest. If you want to be taken seriously, then handle all the stuff no one sees that isn't sexy, rather than just putting lipstick on a pig. There's no consistent theme. It's like 5 different people walked through a 2nd hand store in a rush, with no other options, so each picked what they found in their scavenger hunt and then threw it all together. It's a big space. The staff was great and welcoming. Seriously, they were solid. The place is a 2 star, but staff is worth another star. It just felt like coming to visit my aunt who doesn't get a lot of visitors so she threw everything in a closet knowing guest are coming over. We all have to ignore the smell and everything else. The stuff on the walls makes sense to her as they are her memories, but there's no theme other than her history, so none of it makes sense to anyone else. It's just awkward. The reason this place isn't booming is 100% on the owner. They are trying to look bougie, while ignoring real issues, and clearly in way over their head attempting to do way too much with too little. They need to take a loan or get an investor and make this place amazing. It could be, but it's not. Then again, not sure if the place they dream of could survive in that area as the prices would need to double and the area may not be willing to pay. Potential investors may have said the same. I see the vision, but also see the reality, which just frustrated me as there was conflict around every corner. Also, the bar closes early at like 8 or 9pm. Additionally the upgraded rooms with "garden view" are anything but. The actual room is good. The detached building however looks like it was a nursing home that's never been changed or upgraded; at least on the outside and entrance. When you walk in the front door of said nursing home, it SMELLS like a nursing home. It was strong and not in a good way. When you are in your room and look outside at the "garden view", it's a crappy 1/2 wall that appears to have been designed and built as a favor by a drunk uncle who was in a rush. It's very small and insignificant. It's an eye sore, but the "garden" is actually just the back yard looking directly into a crappy middle class neighborhood of back yards. All in all, my "get away" upgraded experience felt more like a motel 6 with a $1,000,000 dream on a $500 budget.

It's attached to a golf course and is really a massive property. Check in was nice, though the young lady told me there was no hot tub and it's a good thing that we checked the next morning to find out there indeed was a hot tub next to the outdoor pool... Other amenities included an indoor pool and a sizable gym. The restaurant was open later and staff there were friendly as well. The room itself was nothing special but was of a good size and included a mini fridge. It was comfortable enough with good water pressure in the shower and decent beds with the usual silly pillows. The hotel was quiet--despite a wedding going on downstairs. Continental breakfast was included but it wasn't anything amazing, so we skipped that and went out for breakfast instead. Bottom line: If the rate is decent here, you could do far worse!

So basically everything you need and expect from a property. This mornin, however, when I came down hoping to grab a coffee, someone had the Starbucks auto-dispenser coffee robot machine open for repairs. "Uh-oh," I said, "is coffee off the menu for now?" but was assured by the repair person that just a tea function was broken and that otherwise, it should work fine. I went to the front desk and paid for the coffee separately and that's where I encountered Andrea. She gave me a pro-tip that I didn't need to swipe my credit card for each charge even though on business travel I like my expenses separated by category and don't want to charge things to the room, she let me know that you can actually have it split on checkout. cool. cool, cool, cool. So then I approached the coffee making robot and punched in the drink of my desire and it wound into action, starting to create a cup of coffee. As the coffee brewed though, I noticed it was not black and it was also not Brown, it was kind of yellowish so it seemed as though the machine was perhaps not heating to temperature or that something was indeed wrong with the coffee function. I went back to the front desk and let Andrea look at the cup of coffee and asked her if perhaps we should re-summons the repair man to take a look at it again. Instead of making me wait for that part to happen though, Andrea spun into action and took my coffee to the back of the restaurant and got it filled so that my objective would be achieved and I could go on about my day. I'm not on business travel to sit around the hotel waiting for coffee and she saw me and she knew that. For a service that cost the hotel maybe three cents, she made my day! So thank you Andrea and thank you to the people who train this staff, because sometimes going off of the usual pattern is the best way to serve the customer in the moment, and it seems as though everyone here understands that!

The second time I stayed at this Marriott, my shower in the room did not work. The staff was prompt to get maintenance there while I went to the mall next door, and it was ready to go when I arrived back to turn in for the evening. The cornerish room (edge middle room between two corner rooms) they gave me looked to be recently remodeled. It looks like everything in the building is recently renovated so things for the most part seem newish. No cobwebs or dust in sight (aside from the top of the fridge being a bit dusty, but alas I don't think 6'+ housekeepers are common.) Rooms are equipped with dishwashers, full size electric ovens (some don't have an oven so you have to request it,) a toaster, microwave & a fridge. They feature stand-in showers & low height toilets. Pretty much everything in the rooms is low height which is perfect, especially for those with disabilities. The Residence Inn offers a free all you can eat breakfast buffet from 6:30 am to 9:00 am Monday thru Friday & from 7:00 am to 10:00 am on weekends. There is a pool, jacuzzi, laundry room & gym. It also has a small "marketplace" next to the front desk that consists of a few items you can grab like soda, TV dinners & snacks along with personal care items. Since the hotel is small, all of the amenities are scaled to match. This means things like the marketplace & breakfast buffet have nowhere near the selection of other busier Residence Inns like the one in downtown Phoenix which also includes things like salisbury steak, chinese food & whatever they felt like cooking for breakfast alongside the standard waffles, pancakes, oatmeal, meats, cereal, etc. The breakfast here is a measly eggs (cage free,) bacon, muffins (jalapeno cheddar biscuits in muffin form so not sweet dessert muffins,) & oatmeal. Even though the breakfast ends at a certain time they do have mini fridges that have fat free milk & yogurt along with coffee/water dispensers that are always available (they shutdown the juice dispenser once breakfast closes.) There are several cons though. My room preferences were completely ignored when they assigned the room. Since the edge room they assigned me was on a lower level & near the exit...hearing the frequent slamming of the exit door as people took the stairs was not ideal. Speaking of doors...my door was defective & wouldn't close all of the way naturally so I had to push it until it clicked every single time otherwise anyone could literally just push the door open. The view was also terrible as it overlooked the parking lot & had trees, street lights, etc. blocking the window. The ice maker on the fridge was way too loud. It produces ice at a super slow pace & the buzzer seems to go off every 30 minutes or so. When the ice is done it makes a loud bang almost like a bomb went off as it dispenses the ice into the bucket. The second con is the lack of in-house food options. Third is that there's no shuttle that'll take you to nearby places which is a missed opportunity to earn a lot of extra business from traveling professionals & tourists. For some reason there were no baking pans even though my room had an oven although they did have utensils, plates, pots, etc. The rooms are also not as soundproof as they should be... with me being able to hear people walking outside in a hallway as well as them coming in going from their rooms. I also occasionally heard my neighbors upstairs & adjacent to me moving around or snoring all of which is concerning as it leaves me wondering how much they heard from my room? For a place geared towards business...privacy should be a priority. There was also whisper levels of strange electrical noises that seems to have come from the minisplit HVAC system. I was told house keeping cleans every other day, but they didn't touch my room for the first four days even though I saw them in the hallway. It took me sitting my overflowing trash cans outside of my door for them to go inside & clean the room. Even then they didn't actually clean anything, moreso just replaced the towels as well as made the bed after taking out the trash (of which the recycle bin was returned with large bits of food in it which wasn't mine so even that was not cleaned.) Also be aware of the $5/day parking fee added to your room bill which is charged even if you aren't even driving & therefore aren't using the parking lot. There was no hand soap as well as no lotion in the room so I had to use the liquid body wash in the shower along with my own lotion. Overall, this is a much better option than the normal Marriott hotel in Downer's Grove. The bed is actually comfortable enough to sleep on, the minisplit HVAC system doesn't kick in like a mule (other than the electrical noise it's rather quiet when on,) and every other amenity is leagues ahead of a regular Marriott.
