I chose this hotel because it was conveniently located near Cedar Point. We weren't planning on staying after our trip, but decided to stay in Sandusky and needed something last minute. When I looked on Google, the reviews were pretty good for a two-star hotel, so I trusted that the hotel would be decent. Upon arriving at the hotel, I made a reservation at the front desk, which was quick and easy. When we arrived at our room, immediately, and I mean immediately, the smell hit us in the face. It smelled like mildew, similar to something wet or stale. We dropped our things off and left for about two hours, hoping that the smell would have gone away by the time we returned, but unfortunately, it had not. We decided to just deal with it and push through. BUT upon beginning to use our room, we noticed some pretty disturbing things. First and foremost, there was hair in the bed, along with hair in multiple places in the shower. There was also what appeared to be a piece of a broken hairbrush on the bathroom counter, which leads me to believe that the room just wasn't thoroughly cleaned. Perhaps they just made up the bed from the previous guest; I'm not sure. But that was the final straw for us, and we decided to pack up and find another place to stay. We went down to the front desk and spoke with the same gentleman who had checked us in. We informed him of the issues with our room and simply asked for a refund because we had only been checked in for less than two hours. He informed us that he would not be able to give us a refund, and only the manager could do that. There was no manager on duty, and there wouldn't be one until Monday. It would be up to her discretion if she would give a refund or not. I informed him that we had taken thorough pictures, so there wouldn't be any issues proving what we had experienced. THEN, about 45 minutes later, I received two additional charges on my credit card. One was in the amount of $25, and the other was the amount of the original room charge. So now I had three charges from this hotel on my credit card. I had to call and speak with customer relations about this issue and the two new charges. Overall, I would not recommend staying at this hotel. The pictures provided by the hotel are inaccurate compared to what you will receive for your room, and it's evident that they do not make cleanliness a priority. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. By far the worst customer service experience i have ever had. I booked a room, then called weeks in advance to cancel. The hotel staff messed up the cancellation so i was still charged and they refuse to refund me. They ran my card without consent even though the receipt says "PAID AT HOTEL". They are scammers. When I called the hotel to remedy the situation the man working the front desk proceeded to yell and berate me. He was frightening and I would never feel safe staying there. We wanted a hotel with a pool and hot tub for the night before a trip to Cedar Point. The room was like $134 and it happened to be bike week, so there were motorcycles everywhere. That doesn't bother me, but the dirty room and rude front desk staff did bother me. Also, I had called ahead of time to make sure the pool and hot tub were operational and was told yes they are. They actually have two swimming pools - One indoor and one outdoor. The hot tub was hot - but the jets did not work!! The pool inside was a nice temperature and had plenty of towels. We sat at the outdoor pool but did not go in the pool but it seemed nice. The toilet in our hotel room would not flush so we had to call the front desk to report it. It was fixed within a half hour so that was good. Would I stay here again - probably not. Oh and by the way - the hallway is like a mile long - seriously! My daughter was horrified. It looked like a severe injury took place on this mattress..it appeared to be dried blood..it was all along the sides of the mattress..both sides. I didnt look much further except to check my bed also which had evidence of the same. If bed bugs do this to a person..I wonder if that person survived. I booked two rooms that were marked as "updated rooms" so I wasn't too worried about this being a typical "old" hotel. I booked two rooms and when I went into the first one it smelled of mildew and the bathroom had actual holes in the shower and the whole room was so dusty. These rooms looked barely cleaned. When I opened the first drawer to put clothes in it, there was remaining cotton or something from whoever previously stayed here. There were particles that came out of the AC that looked like little black fleas or dead bugs that were sitting on top of the AC. At one point in my stay, I saw a spider crawling up the wall that I had to kill. I also found a lot of uncleaned hair in the shower. In my other room, it smelled the entire stay of mildew and did not go away the entire time. I went to pull the desk chair out and there were crumbs and a dirty napkin from the previous people. Makes me know that this room was not cleaned at all. The faucet then began to leak after I turned it on the first time. These rooms should be disinfected and not smell like this- if you want to go cheap and stay here, just make sure that you bring disinfecting wipes and flip flops to wear in the room. As for the actual hotel: it is a good location in Sandusky near the freeway. This hotel hall looks like the hallway with no end. It was so long so make sure you move your car if they tell you that your room is at the end- it is long. The front desk lady was not really the nicest and she looked like we were bothering her. Although she did help, she didn't seem too happy when I called for help from my personal phone because the room phone didn't work. The breakfast is pretty big- waffles, coffee, eggs, cereal- it is all there and not excellent but it was free so it works. A most definite budget hotel and rating it a one star budget hotel is being rather generous. We stayed for two nights at $144 per night with taxes/fees added in. Our beds were very firm and uncomfortable. The hotel is very dated and generally shows the wear and tear. There was a random sunflower seed on our bed sheet when we checked in. We went to Cedar Point in the morning and when we came back we found room service replaced our towels and were kind enough to leave our room door standing open until we returned around 11p.m. The halls were noisy with people and kids throughout the night. There is an indoor and outdoor pool. These might have been enjoyable but for the large number of teens running around and being loud. I don't consider myself a hotel snob at all. I'm generally the opposite, not expecting much more than a place to sleep for a few hours. This place is dated, uncomfortable and not worth the $144 "budget price" per night that we paid. This place is disgusting. The staff is rude. I jumped into bed. I'm blonde and immediately came face to face with a black hair on my blanket. Disgusting, but okay. I go to sleep, wake up in the morning, and jump in the shower and the wall has 6 strands of black hair and a clump of black hair in the corner of my shower. I got out of the shower feeling nasty. I took this to the front desk, but because I wasn't on the list to clean she wasn't sure if she could help. So she said was going to see if she could get my shower cleaned for me, not the bed. I came back to my hotel after my activities for the day. The shower was cleaned and it looked like my bed was made... nope. They took my blankets and sheets and left me with a carpet feeling throw blanket at the end of the bed. The hotel was dark and drab. It was in desperate need of an upgrade. The furniture in the lobby was stained. It felt grimy. Of course they blamed Covid for the fact that the bar and restaurant were closed, We came in as part of the Hot Rod Power Tour which was booked at least a month out. They must have been in need of staff, because were checked in by a young boy who appeared to be about 14 years old. We tried to get in the pool area but there was a lock on the gate. We saw someone sitting in there later but we could not figure out how they got in. We were booked for two nights but when we tried to get in the back door on the second day our room cards did not work. I had to walk a long way to the front desk, outside, and was told that they had only keyed it for one day. No apology was offered. Wow I tried making reservations at 945pm on 6-1 for an upcoming trip. Being from out of town and the current COVID restrictions I call the hotel directly to confirm the pool was open and they were serving breakfast. Just as a disclosure: I had a comp stay here this weekend because I was in town for the film festival, among other things. We had a "standard" sized room (1 king bed) but it was actually very roomy, so I was pleased. Upon check-in, we were informed that we had a "non-functional" jacuzzi in the room, and indeed we did ... I'm not sure why it's not functional as that would have been great to relax in, but oh well. The bathroom was a little small/average, but the room itself was fairly large/roomy. In addition to the bed, we also had a microwave, fridge (which came in handy for water bottles, even though this was only a 2-day trip), a desk with a chair, and a small sitting area. Our room (1st floor, #1043) faced the cabana/outdoor pool area, so I was afraid it would be noisy at night, but it wasn't. The hotel is HUGE and we were lucky we had a quick walk to our room from the lobby, the hallway seemed to go on forever - so if you can't walk far, be sure to ask for a 1st floor room closer to the lobby. The hotel did have a hot breakfast from 6:30am-9:30am, but unfortunately we missed it both days; our first night there, we slept in until around 10am, and only later realized the times, and today I woke up at 9am but neither of us was really hungry (funnel cake at Cedar Point late night will do that to you!). I've heard the breakfast is good but didn't get to experience it. (I'd recommend they change the hours to 10am, at the least) Overall this is a solid choice of hotel if you have business in the Sandusky area or you're in town for Cedar Point. I believe prices start at $89/n and go up from there, and the rooms were quite nice for the price point. read more

Soo... My wife and I spent a day down here so we can get to cedar point amusement park when it opened up. We grab a room here at the Comfort Inn, our room was 1121 I believe. We get in and the room smacks us in the face with this huge weed smell, our room is supposed to be smoke free btw. They did offer us another room with no hesitation. The flooring is pretty cool and I like the two weirdly fitting pictures in the room that shouldn't be in any room or house but somehow it works in here. The only other thing I can say is the bathtub was not very clean, once we got it a nice temp and turn the jets on there was some grey shit, idk what it was but we didn't feel like it was cleaned very well so we dipped out. read more

I couldn't get through to the front desk, so I waited in line for over a half hour to talk to someone. They sent the GM up to loonat it. She didn't even apologize but instead said that the issues must have been overlooked. She was changing the dirty bedding, and I noticed a huge brown spot on the new bedding as she was putting it on. She said she would be back. We waited over 25 minutes before she finally returned, during which the room began to smell strongly like weed. The most she said they could do was discount the room by 10% for the night when we reserved two. The smell got so bad that they put our room out of order and we had to transfer rooms at 10:45 at night.. all with my young child, who was exhausted at this point. I came to this hotel for business. I had to get up early each morning. On Saturday night there were parties going g on all night long in the parking lot. My window is located so that their is a 6x6 dark area by my window. I was disturbed by loud voices and a smell of a strange oder coming through my vent. When I moved th curtains to look our I saw some rough looking people about 4 within a foot of my window. I called the front desk and they reported that they were aware of the parties going on but doent appear that they did anything about it. I did not get any sleep and did not feel safe at all. We stayed at the Comfort Inn on Milan for a wedding in the area. The room was fine - clean and comfortable. However, the door to the bathroom left about an inch between it and the toilet. I crunched a toe closing it in the middle of the night. Check your bill. The post on the reservation said the second night was $299! The first night was $99, so it shocked us and we started making plans on an alternative hotel. Fortunately, it was an error on their part and we only paid $99 for the second night. Breakfast was standard hotel fare. Scrambled eggs, sausage, English muffins, bagels, cheap cold cereal, waffles, assorted cold items. Not many choices for glutin free, nor lactose free toast spreads. Had to use honey on my bagel because they only had butter. I know, first world problem but there is an easy solution! Overall this was an ok place to stay. Now we assumed a maintenance guy would come unclog the toilet( you know what they say about assuming), well the lady from the front desk brought us a plunger and left. Stayed here 2 days while visiting Cedar Point. Great staff, clean, wonderful breakfast buffet every morning. Kitchen staff kept up with the crowd both days and everything was filled as soon as they saw it needed filling. More like a buffet brunch. Something for everyone on the buffet. Kids loved it. Kudos to the staff working breakfast. This hotel has an indoor and outdoor pool, game room with about 8-10 machines, a restaurant club, and bars in the hotel. We had a room right next to the outdoor pool so I thought it was going to be bad but to our surprise everyone was out of the pool and quiet by 10:15 pm. More Comfort Suites should follow this location. Can't go wrong for the price either. The only problem which was not really the hotels fault was that my son left his prescription ray bans on the night stand. I immediately called the hotel on the way back to Chicago to catch his flight. The guy at the front desk said he would go check and call me back. He called me back about an hour later and said he didn't find anything but told housekeeping to double check. A few hours later someone else called and said they found them. The guest service agent said I could get them back if I gave her my credit card information which I did, so they could mail them back to us in Houston. Great customer service? It couldn't cost that much to send them out to Texas if they actually do and I'm hoping they do. No towels left in the room on the 2nd day. Had to go get them up front when we got back from the park. This is the only reason I am giving it 3 stars otherwise I'd give them 4.5 because it is a good hotel in a great location with great service otherwise. We just stayed here for 2 nights during Ohio Bike Week. The location is perfect as it's a few minutes from Mad River Harley where the weekend concerts were, restaurants, shopping if needed. The staff was very friendly when checking in and out. The continental breakfast was good. Had breakfast as well as items you'd find for lunch on the buffet. They are prepared for a army of people for breakfast which is nice because when we where there they where not crowded. Overall this was the perfect place to stay for cedar point. We stayed here for a baseball tournament at Cedar Point Sports Force Park. We were bummed the rooms in our "block of rooms" were scattered all over the hotel as our whole team stayed and wanted to hang out together and this made it tougher to do so... but that would not have affected my star rating as we are understanding that things like that might be hard to pull off. I'd have done 3 stars based on: Front desk staff was rude & breakfast was fair - super slim section and coffee was undrinkable. But I'm doing 1 star based on cleanliness. Our room was gross. Brown finger prints on light switch cover & doors, coffee grounds in the in-room coffee maker's tray and empty wrappers of previous guest's coffee packet in the coffee supplies, thick layer of dust/dirt on hairdryer that gave the impression it had never been wiped ever, slimy who knows what on the bathroom floor - which looked like cleaning the floors consisted solely of a quick mop flashed through without any care for the edges of the floor and corners, hair in the tub, stained sheets, hard/crunchy feeling carpet as if it hadn't been properly cleaned in a long time, and a moldy/musty stink to the room. The room felt humid/damp all weekend. I could not wait to leave. read more

The employees here are among the nicest that I have interacted with at hotels and they really went out of their way to make the stay as pleasant as possible. Recently stayed here with my parents while celebrating my daughters 1st birthday at Kalahari Indoor Resort. At $60/night compared to that of $279 at Kalahari, I really can't complain. The rooms were clean and looked recently updated. We had initially asked for a crib online, but had to ask for one after seeing one had not been placed in our room. No biggie, the nice front desk lady personally delivered it. It does seem as if the hotel is slightly understaffed for it's size. The outside is nice, pool area was clean, hot tub was acceptable temperature wise, and the onsite restaurant worked perfectly in our favor. Quick pros and cons are as follows: Cons: There was some construction going on which made the place seem dingy. The laundry facilities and area they are in was a little dirty and dated. Restaurant decor was a little overpowering but easily overlooked. Cribs suck, bring your own sheets and blankets. Pros: Cheap, clean rooms, nice bathrooms, short distance from Kalahari, lots of food options nearby, good food at the onsite restaurant. Although we did stay on a Tuesday night, the hotel seemed somewhat empty. The front desk gave us each a coupon for free drink and free bruschetta. If you opt not to have the food, they will give you 2 free domestics. That means we got 8 free beers for the two rooms, awesome. I have to give kudos to the bartender and the cook that night. I ordered 3 food options including the duck at 10 minutes before closing, to go, and although we ate everything out of Styrofoam containers, each dish was pretty damn good. I would consider staying here again for sure!! Although if going to Kalahari for a full day, then maybe staying at the resort should be considered because its easier to come and go, especially for those who need naps in between. $279 included passes ($49) for each staying in the hotel. Mere HOURS after I checked out of this hotel and got back on the road, there was a terrible fire at the Comfort Inn. I had been planning on staying longer, but the annoying little kid who lives in my mouth told me to get on the highway and drive nonstop to Portland, Oregon. Who am I to argue? I'm planning on stopping back in Sandusky on my way back across the country. It has always been one of my favorite vacation destinations. I'll probably have to find a different place to stay. From news reports, it looks like no one was hurt. Anyway, I wish the best for the patrons, owners, and employees. I'm not sure how extensive the damage was, if the hotel is closed, or for how long it will be closed. It is probably best to call ahead to find out. Of course, while Cedar Point is in season, you need a reservation EVERYWHERE nearby. Anyway, I would imagine that the line for the continental breakfast is considerably shorter. And when inquiring about this hotel, make sure to ask for a nonsmoking room. read more

Called to cancel our reservations due to recent (within the last week) reviews of cases of bed bugs and rummaging through peoples belongings even with the "do not disturb" signs and we have been on hold for 40 minutes finally talk to some lady and she tells us no problem said she canceled our trip and everything was good, I call back about an hour later to see how I was being reimbursed, and the gentleman who answered said our trip was never canceled and that our reservations were paid for under a no cancel policy and that he would talk to manager and get back with me. I've called probably 8+ times and get left on hold for an inappropriate amount of time. I have no clue how this hotel is still in business and will never recommend this place to anyone. read more
