DEC. 22 - 27th. 2024 We Checked in too early and the Person on Staff (Wisdom) was his name, He told us that we couldn't check in untill 4PM. So I asked to use the bathroom, and when I entered the Lobby Bathroom, there was "Shit" on the walls, toilet seat, and floor. We got in our rental car and found a Hotel near by Hotel that cost more, BUT was worth it! We then returned home from our trip to find that that this HOTEL charged us $487.85. Been on the phone with This Hotel and Expedia since Dec 29th 2024. trying to get a refund, first Expedia is useless, and the Hotel "Manager" is Non-Existent, who ever that may be. And No one you speak to will give you the Managers Name or Email address. We are now in the Process of getting our Bank involved to revers these charges, since Expedia nor this Hotel wants to make this Right. DO NOT BOOK with Expedia, and DO NOT STAY at this Hole in the Wall. It is Completely Disgusting, just like the Useless Employees. Went here looking to have a quick birthday getaway with my man. Wasn't the plan to stay too long in the hotel but we still wanted a nice place once the day finished. It all started as soon as we entered the room... The entrance wasn't the problem, or nothing flashing for us to see immediately at least. Once we began to unwind we noticed several things that were not even just things to pick at, yet it was basic sanitary issues that I just could not take. I don't really know where to actually start but let's jump straight to the couch inside the room. Usually colors and certain fabrics my be used in establishments like this one to sort of hide any of the bacteria and dirt that it can. This green couch had spots that were even worse up close and quite evidently seen. I mean of course the first thing you would think seeing red spots in multiple places is blood right? Is that just me? Well either way it caught me completely off guard along with what looked like a bleach stain from another previous mishap. Then they put us in what looked like a corner room but actually was more towards the middle of the building but nonetheless very much claustrophobic for me. Looking out of our window, we could see nothing but the mid roof and the top of the hotel next door. It felt like I was trapped and stuck. Not that I needed the best view, but I never had one quite as bad even when I could just see a parking lot of activity. Moving to the place they decided that we would get adequate rest. There were a couple of areas that had some black droppings. It looked like ash from a cigarette and very unsettling. The best part of getting a hotel experience for me is soaking into the clouds made of pillows and a nice huge comforter. I could not think of getting cozy this time. Let's see, for this not to be too long I'll just list some of my other concerns briefly. The remote for the tv didn't work, the ice machine was broken, the rugs just needed to be ripped up, and the room was not adequately stocked. I think it is worth talking about the service as well though.. which was what you would expect by now. They were uncompromising with seeing if there were availability to switch rooms and said "we're all full, there's nothing we can do. There is no refunds." Needless to say, no matter how close it is to home, I will not be going there again. 1/5 do not recommend. read more

Hubby and I wanted a quick, overnight staycation away from the kids. We've never stayed at a hotel in Matteson, as we will usually stay somewhere in downtown Chicago or some other suburb. He wanted to give Matteson a try. This place was terrible. Walking in, it felt like we were at seedy motel. The front desk person seemed new and uncertain of the hotel's check in procedures. She did, however, know and tell us about their deposit policy. She "strongly" encouraged us to pay the $100 deposit in cash, citing that it can take up to 15 business days for the deposit to be returned. We did not have cash so we opted to use their ATM (steps away from the front desk) and pay the $3.75 service fees to avoid having this hotel have access to our hold, potentially holding our funds for up to two weeks. We were given a non-official store bought deposit receipt (shady) by the clerk and off we went up to our room. Inside of the elevator was very filthy and repulsive. Yuck. When we entered the room, we were immediately called down to sign additional paperwork that was initially forgotten by the clerk. My husband went back to the front desk while I tried to get settled. I noticed right away that there was only cold air blowing through the heater. I unsuccessfully tried to get it to work but it would not. When my husband returned, the phone was ringing from the first desk to have him return for another document that she forgot about. I told him about the cold air blowing from the heater. When my husband returned to the front desk, yet again, he requested another room. We were given the room next door. The room was dirty. From the nasty room curtains, the dirty shower, the clogged sink, the cigarette burned comforter, and the broken toilet seat, we were totally disgusted. We did not leave, though we wanted to, as it was already late. We stayed, but I knew I would make other potential patrons aware of this hotel by my yelp review with hopes they stay away from this place until they clean up their act. Had to attend a family funeral in the area & thought we had a nice hotel. A cluster of problems proved us wrong. Computers were down when we arrived, so paying was a problem. Finally we were able to pay for one room, but couldn't pay for the second one for our daughter. The clerk at the front desk said we could take care of it in the morning and that she would indicate this on our information. Apparently no one pays any attention to this or she never added a note saying we would pay in the morning. Our daughter was called at midnight and was asked to come to the front desk immediately and pay the bill for the one room. In the middle of the night she had to deal with a surly clerk who didn't seem to care that he had interrupted her sleep. Our daughter had worked in the morning, driven 5 hours to get to the hotel, and spent an emotional evening with grieving family members. The guy didn't care - just pay your bill. I called the manager who practically said that it was my fault. People skip out and don't pay, so that is why it is okay to call people in the middle of the night? Leaving a message requesting that we contact at our earliest convenience - I guess that makes too much sense. He apologized and that was it, but it didn't seem sincere when he indicated it was our fault. Did I mention that there was a dirty sock hanging over one of the lights in our daughter's room? Or the fact that the coffee is awful? And the tea bags are only decaf. Don't plan on visiting the area any time soon, but you can be sure I won't be staying at the Comfort Inn on West Southwick Drive in Matteson, Illinois! It's good enough if all you need is a no frills hotel. It's showing signs of age and improper maintenance. The window panes were crusted over with while film. One of the windows is cracked. Comforters we're ripped and covered up with another blanket to hide the tears. I was plenty comfortable...when I could get into my room. My only real problem with my stay here is that every day when I came back to my room, my key cards were deactivated. I had to go to the front desk to have them fixed. Truly aggravating. I had a reservation at this hotel. After driving 4 hours to this location I was told they were "sold out" and my reservation had been canceled because my card declined. I was then told I could have a king room but had to pay more and was lucky they had that room left. After speaking to the manager Hamil patel, I was told I got the original rate of a double room and was again "lucky" I had a room. I checked in with same alleged credit card which was then charged over $600 subsequently locking my card out for the weekend. So here I am in chicago with my available funds and NO CUSTOMER service or security in my room. We had to share beds at a higher rate when we trusted a reservation from Choice Hotels. I am a traveler, and Choices hotels has become bottom on my list due to this horrible experience !!! read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! The hotel smells like mildew, there was a mop bucket left in the hotel lobby. I booked this hotel for one night over thanksgiving and didn't even stay after walking into the room. It's really bad that I didn't even care about the refund although i made a generous attempt to let them know their establishment is not up to par and i refused to leave with roaches. Don't stay here! Not safe! On my first and only night there, twice that night my room was checked out to other guests. At 1:45am the second time attempt was made. As I looked out the security peek hole I see the desk clerk, who knew I was in the room due to the first incident, accompanying a young man trying to enter the room! My room was at the very end of the hall by the exit stairs... Hmm can't help but feel free to as though that young man is on the shady side. Police report filed. Oh yeah, and they will announce your room number and full name out loud!!! In front of anyone else who happens to be around. Checked out this morning. Stayed one night after seeing a concert. Room was clean but smelled stale. Breakfast made me sick, only had one bite of eggs sausage and waffle then trashed it all. My problem was at checkout. The young lady with glasses was super rude. When I walked up to the desk to checkout she was watching a movie on a laptop or something. She said " yes" didn't even stop her movie to look at me. She asked for my room number and then said "ok" and started her movie again. Not once did she look at me. I then asked for a receipt. Again no eye contact pressed some buttons and continued to watch her damn movie. The receipt finally printed, again didn't even look at me. Kept on watching her damn movie. Raised her hand and gave me the receipt. No thank you no thank you for staying with us no how was your stay, nothing. I will never stay at this hotel ever again. Save your time and your money unless you want rude customer service. She should not be working at a hotel or any other place if she doesn't want to deal with people first hand. I'm so tired of bad customer service, if you don't want to work then stay home. She shouldn't have been watching a movie at the front desk. The hotel itself is decent and in a reasonable location close to food and shopping. The customer service, job aptitude and professionalism is where the problem is. Myself and a party of roughly 12 rooms stayed here for multiple days for work thru CLC. The young African American female working the front desk in the morning had a horrible attitude and interacts in an unprofessional manner. The day we checked in it took just over 30 minutes to get 7 of us checked in. Several mistakes were being made in the computer system while she and a coworker playfully joined with each other. Even though there were two people at the front desk, she was the only one checking is in so the prices took way longer than needed. Few days later it was requested to extend our rooms due to working in the area longer than planned and she proceeded to give me an attitude because "this wasn't the check out date told to her the day before" by a coworker amd that she didn't care....she'll just lock everybody out of their rooms" to ensure that they come to the front desk when extending to sign new registration cards. As I tried to explain to her how we can have one of our guys take care of it without going thru that she dismissed me by telling me that it wasn't up for debate and since I now had my key that I could leave. I'm confused at how this young girl is able to even keep this job with an attitude and demeanor like that. Needless to say that our group won't be staying at this property any more and it will be sent to the complaint department in CLC so that they can be removed since our money seems to inconvenience the workers. read more

Mannan (the front desk clerk) decided that it was a good idea to CALL ME AT MIDNIGHT to settle up a bill for my Mom and Dad's room (my room was already paid for) because the systems were down earlier, even though he had a card in file. I was in town with my kids for a funeral and we were all exhausted. Mannan didn't apologize or do anything to try to make it better after waking me up at midnight and making me stand and wait in the lobby for 20 minuted while he tried to check someone else in. Do not stay at the Comfort Inn at 5210 Southwick Drive Matteson , IL 60443. My family and I booked rooms at this hotel for a family reunion this past weekend, August 10th-12th. We secured 40 rooms for our reunion months in advance. This was the worst customer service that I've experienced in a long time. I am very disappointed with how the general manger and his staff treated me and my family.  The check in process was inconsistent. Upon arrival, some family members were charged deposits ranging from $50-$100, others were not charged at all. On Friday afternoon I called the hotel to ask if my daughter could check in for me. The general manager answered the call and during the conversation I was told to pay for Friday night individually, instead of both nights in full at checkout on Sunday. Had I not done so, he told me that my room would be given away to other guests. This was around noon, check in was at 6:00pm. None of my other family members had this issue. On Saturday evening I received a call from the general manager during my family dinner. I was told that I needed to pay for Saturday night individually as well and that I needed to do so right at that moment. If I did not, he again said my room would be give away. The only explanation I was given for this was "How do we know if you're going to be here *insert night here*?" I refused to leave my dinner to do so. I returned to the hotel to pay for my night, after the transaction was over I asked the front desk employee for a receipt to make sure I was being charged the correct rate. Instead of printing one he began fumbling with new room keys. I informed him that I did not need new keys and then he replied "The ones you have may not work." The general manager deactivated my room keys because I refused to pay for Saturday night when he originally asked me to.  One of my cousins who also received poor customer service, posted a review on Yelp and told the general manager that she was doing so. He asked her to take it down, and when she refused, he called the police on her claiming that he felt threatened. When the police arrived they informed the general manager that this was not a police matter and no action would be taking place.  Please be aware that when you stay at franchised hotels like those run by Choice Hotels, that they are not under the corporate umbrella and you may or may not be subjected to this behavior. I have no choice but to protest publicly because this is privately owned hotel. I strongly feel that race and how we carry ourselves played a huge factor in how we were going to be treated. Check in took 25 minutes!! There were several people waiting and the systems were "running slow" once in the room I realized the hotel had not been updated in room to match the lobby. Room smelled damp. Asked about another room and was told they were full. Hair in bathroom, towels did not feel fresh and asked housekeeper for new ones. Room key stopped working randomly the next day and had to stand in another line (15minutes) to get a new one. Definitely not my first choice to stay at again. read more
