During this time, Irish peoples were frowned upon. Allow a German immigrant, they were forced to live a lower class of individuals too! Following Bloody Monday where Irish were forced to stay away from voting with their lives. The Germans had actual live ammunition fired upon them by angry citizens. But still he loved his new country and home! We have the ornate stone symbols to remember how much someone loved their country. This door has been relocated all that was left from the mighty Ohio River. It shows the symbols of freedom, literally liberty carved into it! The love that comes from a man's soul and spirit can still be enjoyed over 150 years later. Now if you are looking to remember your loved one. You could have a brick placed here forever more . When close to the Big Four Bridge and Ohio Water Park Front this is a must. It's on the road directly across from the Botanical Gardens. The flora is maintained by the Botanical Gardens of Kentucky. When in doubt always smell the flowers! Walk through the facade to find the other sides of life.

When you doom scroll, you come across many different places that are true hidden gems. Door To Nowhere, or Heigold House, is definitely an oddity and salute to the past. Some housekeeping, you know, things to know about this place. BE CAREFUL. This sits on a roundabout island with steady traffic. Be mindful to the traffic flow and businesses nearby (I parked at a nearby business off the road and walked over here). Be kind to the natural beauty that surrounds this. And most of all, be respectful. As I said, this sits on a roundabout with flowerbeds surrounding it. Whether you are facing front, as in looking at the front of the façade, or looking from the rear, please stay on the sidewalks provided. Take in the informational plaques as well. Built by Christian H Heigold, a successful stonecutter. Majority of the house was completed in 1853. Heigold was a master at stonecutting and completed the home with busts of Presidents George Washington and James Buchanan. Heigold was also a staunch opponent of the 'Know Nothing Party,' and anti-immigration political party and I would like to think that he built his house with all the busts was a big middle finger to those that were anti-immigration. This façade sat in what was known as the The Point neighborhood, which was favored by those that moved to the city from the New Orleans area. Once Louisville diverted the Beargrass Creek away from downtown, this place started to flood annually. Shifting people away from the neighborhood and then the Great Flood of 1937 happened. Slowly the city started buying houses and demolishing them. Ultimately using the land as a dump site. Then this façade was listed on the National Registry of Historical Places. Remained in that area which became Thruston Park. That is until a developer bought the land adjacent to this and build condos. They moved this massive beast, 70,000-pounds, across River Road to where it sits today.

The six scenes are: the hookah smoking caterpillar; Alice holding her cat, with the Cheshire Cat in the background; the Queen of Hearts' frog servants; the Queen of Hearts; the Mad Hatter; and the White Rabbit. Nulu is stocked full of awesome and beautiful public art works. Thai Alice and wonderland rendering has added to that. So detailed, specific and well done. Everytime I walk by it I notice a detail that I haven't before. Overall a beautiful and wonderfully done piece of public art. I can see it becoming a favorite of many inside the city.

Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. The mural consist of a pair of boxing gloves with its angel halo (I assume created shortly after ali passing) and the left wing being a butterfly wing and the right wing being a bee wing. Very cool and unique. While the mural never mentions Ali name or the phrase or is obvious what the message is by the creative use of symbolism. Overall a great piece and while it's not very large and kinda hard to spot on the side of a building it may be one of my new favorite pieces because of the creativity.

A bunch of twisted piping that at the beginning of it says the words "Louisville". I'm not sure the purpose or what it represents and after the words Lousiville it's kinda a mess and hard to determine what the design is. Overall it's still a unique piece to the city and kinda cool. In a weird spot so I'm not sure how much exposure it gets as the one way street people usually have merged on the expressway before hitting the underpass.

Very hard to miss as it sprawls all across a whole building wall and makes for some cool and fun photo ops. I can imagine this is popular with graduation photos. If not then it probably should be. Overall like most things in the Nulu neighborhood this is a really cool find and any art or mural lovers will surely enjoy it.

I don't know who the artist is, nor the meaning behind the mural, as I couldn't find any information, but I suppose it's meant to be inspirational and give people a positive outlook for the future. The horse mural behind the Nulu marketplace is a massive, Beautiful and colorful piece of public…read moreart. This is one of my favorite pieces of seen walking the Nulu area. Everyone knows Kentucky and Louisvile specifically is horse racing country so this large mural down the art factory is a good representation of the area. Nulu marketplace is a combined common area that is the home of a few popular Nulu hot spots. Including Emmy squared pizza. The best way to find this mural is to walk either behind the buildings or walk through the marketplace area and out the back where the parking lot is and you can't miss it. Overall a great addition to not only eh Nulu art scene but the Louisville art scene. Great job by the artists as well. I think it will be a really popular photo op for locals and tourists.

Sunshine on a cloudy day…read more I like this mural and it is a bit of a surprise if you are driving in the area, because it is along a one-way street and the direction of traffic does not go towards the mural. So if you happen to pull in to the parking lot for the NuLu market/courtyard area, you will be greeted by the sight of this huge mosaic style mural, the size of an entire side of a building! Bright, colorful, and regionally appropriate in its subject matter. I like it and it usually puts a smile on my face.

The original artwork was created by Brad Vetter of Letterpress Studio. The mural is located in the Nanny Goat Alley on the side of 228 South Clay Street's historic repurposed Church now housing a bookstore, Airbnb's and residential units. A poster of the artwork is available online with a portion of the proceeds going to Team Kentucky Fund. The art is inspired and timely and just waiting for you to visit.

One of the larger murals in the city. The massive mural contains animals such as an elephant, giraffe, octopus and a whale. It isn't very colorful as it is painted in black outline on a side exterior of a white building. However it is still very cool and me and kids always enjoy checking it out when we are near Frankfort ave or in the crescent hill neighborhood. Overall very fun and often photographed piece in the the city of louisville. One of the cooler and more notable murals in the city.

Very massive and brightly colored mural that sticks out and has a fun vibe to it. I'll admit I was not familiar with the subject depicted in this mural. She was evidently a famed Mexican painter in her own right so it seems appropriate she is being honored in her own professional field. Overall a very nice piece tang is noticeable and a great addition to a Nulu neighborhood that has some truly amazing public art murals.
