MFC is the best club in the country. I'll explain why. My…read moreson practices in this club since 2012. My son ended last season ranked # 1 in Jr. and # 5 Sr. sabre weapon. He was a member of US National fencing team for the 3rd time. He also got bronze at NCAA championship. In the past he was a National champion for both Jr. and Sr. events. MFC produced most Olympic and National champions in sabre weapon. The owner nd head coach is maestro Yury Gelman. He is 5 times Olympic coach for US Olympic sabre team. His students captured silver in Beijing 2008 and Silver and Bronze in Rio. Many students are National and NCAA champions. Yury also the head coach of St. John University fencing team. Yury opened MFC in 2007 and was able to assemble an excellent team of experienced and professional sabre and foil coaches. The results of MFC students are the best proof. Starting this year MFC moved to a new larger location. If you or your child wants to explore the Olympic sport of fencing and you are in NYC area - try MFC. I am sure you will be pleased.

The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to assist, answer questions and help with sizing and ordering equipment and clothing. My child started fencing as a beginner, and thanks to Coach Andrew's patience, encouragement, and expert guidance, she has made incredible progress. He is very pleasant and makes sure every session is challenging but fun. Coach Andrew also places a strong emphasis on conditioning, and the workouts are also intense but incredibly effective. Highly recommend Manhattan Fencing and Coach Andrew for anyone looking to improve their fencing skills at any level!

My child was "moved" from Foil to the Epee class as per recommendation of Paul, one of their main coaches and owner, but whenever I attended classes he either wasn't there or was just sitting in his chair and not doing much of a teaching. Worse came this week, I was informed by one of parents, NOT THE CLUB, that there was an issue with the owner and his license might have been revoked and it seems that the Fencing Association deemed him no longer fit to teach and practice this sport professionally as allegedly he might be involved in an investigation. The Club made no effort to inform most of the parents regarding this issue. Other coaches later reached out and informed us that most of them haven't been paid for weeks if not months. We didn't pay much of attention but now after thinking about this and all the issue previously stated, a lot of the coaches we used to see teaching previously were no longer present. I attributed this to scheduling or competition, but it might have been that they left after not being pay. We are currently looking for a new club for my kid to attend and will not encourage anyone to join this one. Look elsewhere! This place have become too shady and a shell of its former self if it was any better than this.
