I locked my fiancé's keys in her 14 year old car which we have no spare to. I'm pet sitting and didn't know any locksmiths in the area so I panicked and called the first place I saw. My entire interaction with Columbus Metro was easy and straightforward. I got great customer service and had a wonderful experience overall. They showed up promptly and did their job; the entire affair only lasted about 20 minutes including travel time. Rip off artists. Stay far away from these folks. The guy who showed up quoted us a ridiculous price and then demanded we pay him $100 or he'd call the police. He ended up calling the police over it. There was zero mention of a service charge and when I called the number they said it was $49. The guy was very sketchy and scary. Please please please do not call these people. never, never call these people. We had in internal office door lock replaced and he charged us $1293.00. His receipt did not say the the name of the company on it. I'm certain this company or this guy is a total rip off artist. Yes the service was completed, however upon subsequent estmates from multiple locksmith companies they said it would be half of what this clown compnay charged. Called and made an appointment for an estimate. Asked 3 times if there would be a fee. They came on Monday. The man pulled up called me to tell me to come outside, not in a marked vehicle. I did come out he looked at my lock for maybe 5 seconds and quoted me a price. Too much for me thanked him then he said how could I afford. I was getting a vibe so I thanked him again and he left. 2 minutes later the company called and quoted me another price at this point I'm not interested in the company and thanked them again. 1 minute later I get a text from the company saying I owe them $30 for the drivers gas and to give them my credit card information. Locked myself out of my car. When I first called they put me on hold without saying a word. I hung up because if you can't even say "Please hold" I don't need your service. I get a call back and spoke with a woman who was kind. Another man called me and said it would be $49 for the trip and starting at $25 to open the door. I said okay and he said it would be 15 minutes. 28 minutes later a man showed up. I had called so many places that I wasn't sure which company was coming as when they called back they didn't tell me their business name and that number didn't dial out when I tried to call back to find out where they were. The man tells me because I have electric windows it's going to be $385 plus the $49. I laughed and said absolutely not. I said I understand it's $25 AND UP but if you're going to charge that much you need to warn people AND you were two times longer than you said you'd be. I then proceeded to verify that he was going to shove a heavy duty blood pressure cuff into my door and use a wire. He said yes. I said no. If you're going to unlock it the same way you would a car with manual windows (which it's 2025 I'm not sure of many people with manual windows anymore in fact I think at this point it's really just vehicles that the doors are removable) you're not going to charge me more. He said he was coming from East Side (I was in hilliard) and that's fine I would've waited 30 minutes anyway, but don't lie to me. He said he'd make a call and see if I could get a discount. He then proceeded to fake a phone call. My boyfriend ended up getting him down to a total of $145. I paid cash as I did not trust this company with my card information. They also asked for my name, address and signature. I did not provide my address. That's very very odd. He did indeed put a pump into my door and unlock my door within 5 minutes. People lock themselves out. I urge you to get a spare key, buy a lock out kit or just call someone else. This place is a complete and total sham. read more

Was spending time downtown with my 8 week old son and my partner yesterday when we accidentally locked our car keys in my car (they were in the baby bag). Had to call a locksmith to open it, as we walked our baby around in the 80 degree heat until he arrived. The technician was fast and kind, but charged me $249 to open my car because it was "a car with electric locks and start" which makes no sense because he unlocked it like any other car by pulling up on the lock located on the top of the door through the window. I fully believe I was taken advantage of as I was standing by myself while my partner sat in a friend's car with our baby to cool him off. I was in no place to say no-- we needed our car seat and to get our baby home. This place is horrible, do not call unless you want to get completely taken advantage of and basically robbed. read more

I needed my lock replaced and metro came out immediately on the weekend and replaced. Everything was fine. I paid $249 for the repair and less than a week later the lock started falling apart. I called every day to get someone to come out and repair the lock and they informed me I would have to pay another $29 just to get someone to come out. I asked them if they backed up the work and I said certainly I said no not if you're gonna charge me $29 to repair something that should've been done right to begin with, do not use them. If I could rate this firm a zero, I would. The technician Tony K and his boss "Joey" triple charged my daughter (an OSU student) for simply drilling out a deadbolt and reinstalling one on an interior door. It was not an emergency. I tried multiple times to talk to the technician, who only said "Talk to my boss" but would not give me his name and number. Finally got boss Joey's name, but he would never return a phone call. Have emailed, called, sent letters.... not response. Involved the Columbus Attorney General's office - big surprise, they will not return their call either. Looks like small claims court is only remaining option. They are currently hiring new technicians on a commission only basis... so they obviously have incentive to overcharge whenever possible. PLEASE use a reputable local firm with a local office in Columbus. So sad to take advantage of college students. read more

I had three options: wait three (!!) hours for AAA, break my window or call a locksmith. Googled them on a whim and thought, "why not?" Tech came in 20 minutes and I was out in 10. Paid about $130 because it's an older car but definitely worth it. Highly recommend if you're in a pinch. read more

This was a super shady experience. Two days ago I called the company and spoke with the dispatcher, who forwarded me to a locksmith. I spent 15 minutes describing in great detail what I wanted: A strike plate on the front door and possible additional closures (like a hotel door) and a consultation on whether my sliding doors could/should have additional locks for added security. The locksmith led me to believe that they handle all of these things. He said there would be a $29 fee for them to come out today. No problem. Today a locksmith arrived in an unmarked van. English was not his native language we struggled to understand each other. He told me he could not add a strike plate to the front door because the door is "different." Because of the language barrier, I'm not entirely sure what this means. Then he said I could add hotel door closures/latches but he doesn't do that. I should go to Home Depot. Then he asked to see the sliding doors but when he got there he said, "That is not my job. I do not do sliding doors." What the actual heck? So, I got the guy out of my house and paid the $29 fee with a credit card. But the receipt came up from an entirely different company called "Expert Lock and Key." I called Columbus Metro Locksmith again to find out who is Expert Lock and Key. The dispatcher said the companies are affiliate with each other and she was very sorry I had a bad experience. I selected Cols Metro because they had a ton of 5-star reviews. Mistake. read more

Call Columbus metro if you like being lied too.. I locked my keys in my truck today. Saw Columbus Metro was local so I called and I was quoted 30 dollars and then another 30 for other "possible fees". I said okay and he came out. He got there when he said he would, got my truck open in under five minutes. I go to pay and he says 150 dollars. I laughed and said can you say that again please.. I told him I was quoted around 60 bucks so he calls whoever and he said they could do 120 and I really have no choice in paying that seeing as he already did his job. I can't even give this service a review they were so terrible. I've honestly never written a poor review before, but I feel others need to know what this company did to me. Our company had a deadbolt lock go out. I called and they agreed to meet me at 8:00 a.m. the next morning. I finally called at 8:30 when no one showed up. They had forgotten and called someone to get to us. The person they sent was not knowledgeable. They took 2 hours and I asked if the bottom lock could be set to the top lock. They took it apart and said they could do it the next day. They gave me one key ($379 charge) and I had to go have office keys made. Upon arrival back to my office the bottom lock they took apart now didn't work. I called and after an hour the locksmith came back out. Two hours later he got me in to the office. He rekeyed the bottom lock but guess what - when I went to lock it in front of him it didn't lock. He seemed surprised. He didn't seem to understand I wanted to lock it from the outside. I'm thinking, well why do I have a key???? So another couple of hours he seems to get it right. By now other tenants in our office space our laughing at me asking me the name of the company. They say they want to know to make sure they don't call them. I feel like a jerk. Then the locksmith charges me another $204 to rekey the bottom lock, telling me he "took off" the service charge for the inconvenience. You do the math $583 for showing up late and screwing it up and inconveniencing me????? But wait....that's not all! A day later the bottom lock stops working!! Breaks! I was livid! I told them that I was so upset I refused to pay them to fix it. I simply won't use the bottom lock. I was going on every website known to man to tell everyone how horrible they were. They basically said "OK" and hung up. So if you use this company you are a complete idiot. Like I was. I chose them because they had great reviews on Yelp. I got the Helen Keller of Locksmiths - A blind person could have done better!! And I got ripped off!! More money than rent. They should be put out of business!! read more
