I'm new to the area and Salon AhLoe is the closest to me with the best reviews (I demand both…read moreproximity and excellence as a spoiled LA brat). This review is about Christina, Empress Supreme of the Scissors and Comb. I arrived pretty much exactly at my appointment time because I'm used to waiting around at literally every other salon I've ever been to, but as soon as I said my name at the front desk, Christina ushered me to her chair. I had never met Christina before, but I was about to put her through the hairstyling gauntlet, as it were, that numerous stylists have failed. I told you I'm a brat. I asked for her to bleach my hideously long, grotesquely non-blonde roots, cut my hair to shoulder-ish length based on a few photos of myself, and add layers, with a couple of chin-length chunks around my face. I figured, all told, that I'd be in that salon until the next ice age at least, possibly as long as the heat death of the universe, since that's how long most stylists take to bleach my roots. If all went exactly as planned, it might possibly be as little as 3 hours and some change, but that's a level of optimism that not even Mr. Rogers coul have attained, God bless his soul. I even came prepared with enough bullshit to talk about for 3 hours so my stylist and I didn't have to sit there in silence awkwardly averting our gazes so as not to risk having to note the weather for the umpteenth time. I hate talking about the weather, and I'm pretty sure the weather hates being talked about. Christina, goddess that she is, breezed through all of my requests--ALL OF THEM, YOU GUYS--in an hour and a half exactly from the moment I walked in the door. In all my years of bleaching the ever-loving shit out of my hair, nobody has done it with as much swiftness, expertise, and pinache. No little touchups after washing out the bleach. Perfectly even all the way through, first try. Let me tell you that I was so awe-struck--STRUCK DUMB (for once in my life) WITH AWE--that I vowed to never leave Lee's Summit for the rest of my days so Christina can continue to work her magic on my hair. I didn't even get through half of my talking points, like the high-stakes, raucous world of rare Beanie Baby online auction battling (perhaps that's for the best). Like a true Angeleno bimbo, I'm flawlessly platinum blonde all the way through. She gave me some great haircare pointers and suggestions on product, too. In true Midwestern fashion, she was remarkably humble despite my attempts to shower her with praise. LA stylists could NEVER. Go see Christina. She'll take good care of you. P.S. Ron is hilarious and can shoot the shit with the best of 'em. What a character.

I'm a procrastinator and can't seem to make an appointment in advance, so I'm often left with whoever is available on any given day. I've bounced back and forth with several of there stylists and I can honestly say that each and every one of them has been fantastic, skilled, friendly, and professional. I have my favorite stylists, but I won't be naming them here -- I'd like to get an appointment with them in the future! If you live in Lee's Summit and are looking for a quality cut and/or color, you won't find better than Salon Ahloe. Professionals from start to finish, highly recommended.

Today I was graced with being able to visit and procure the services of Ames Searlé at The Hair…read moreSalon here in Oak Grove, located at 1404 S. Broadway. I had a pretty bad mess going on, as I am well known for letting my hair just go for a while between cuts. I work at home and rarely see any clients in person, so it's not exactly mandatory I stay well groomed. However, when I get a hair cut, I like a good one. Ames made me an appointment via a Facebook message, after I requested information. My appointment was for 1pm. I arrived at about 12:55 and I was promptly greeted and seated. No wait time whatsoever, which is what I consider very important if I had made an appointment (promptness). Ames and Lisa Easterly-Stacy, as well as the other employee of whom I didn't catch her name, were very nice and presented their business in a very professional manner. Also, the hair cut? Oh yeah, I'm loving it! I was going for something new compared to my typical messed up look. Something a bit longer, but still very presentable in any situation. Ames did an exceptional job at multitasking between providing me with a very good cut and style, while maintaining healthy conversation throughout the process . (I'm a talker, so I like conversation, big plus on my end). Not only did I leave with a great hair cut, at a great price, but also with a very good feeling of being welcomed. As far as awkwardness, there was zero, I immediately felt as if I had friends there within just the first few minutes of walking in. In short: I will definitely be going back here, great people (extra kudos for keeping with my computer talk), great services and very much worth it for anyone that hasn't visited there yet or are looking for a new stylist or to try something new.

Tatum was my stylist and understood exactly what I was looking for in terms of my haircut and color. The experience was nice with a beautiful salon, conscious products and great beverages. I was also impressed by the cost of my all over color and cut, which was well below several luxury salons I'd been to but somehow the color and cut were better than those luxury salons. I left happier than I'd been about my hair in years. I couldn't recommend Tatum and Head Case salon more. 10 stars out of 5!

I ended up parking a block away on the street and walking up, but they have reserved parking available in the small parking lot across from Planters. The place itself is clean, bright, and spacious, and the ease of making an appointment was a breeze. I was able to call that morning and get in for a bang trim within the hour. My stylist this visit was Josh, who was very friendly and sat with me beforehand to discuss what sort of look I was going for. I appreciated the attention to detail, even for something as simple as a bang trim. Since I didn't get a full wash/cut/style, I can't speak to the full service, so that's why I've rated it as so.

I regularly adjust my flights back to Missouri from the east coast for holidays and vacations based on Angela's availability to get me in, or drive from Columbia MO or STL to see her. I don't think my hair is difficult to figure out - lots of volume, very wavy, and I like natural highlights with long layers, but NO STYLIST has been able to get it just right - except Angela. There's a reason I have lived in New York City, Washington DC, Nashville, and Chicago, and still come back to Angela. I can't recommend her enough! **Over this past winter break, Angela wasn't able to get me in, so I saw Courtney for my highlights instead. She did a great job! She listened to what I was looking for, we discussed color options, and they came out beautiful and natural. Love them!

She said you will love it and it would add depth to my color. But, the streaks are 4 shades darker. All the shine and luster is gone. I'm left with muddy looking hair. I also have extremely long tangled wet hair. This stylist gathered it all together and started ripping through it with a brush. I offered to brush it out myself. Then suggested taking smaller sections or maybe using some detangler. The stylist yelled at me to let her do her job. If your client keeps making suggestions to better handle their hair, maybe you should listen! Now I have black streaks and my hair is broken off and looks frizzy. NOT HAPPY! Sent from my iPhone
