Lenny Lyles is very deserving of a statue form the school from being dominant in two major sports. More known for hai football as he went on to play over a decade in the nfl during the 1950's where he would become a 2 time nfl champion and pro bowler. Overall great statue and tribute to a true university of Lousiville legend. Nice job by the university In honoring an all time cardinal great.

(As a Yelper, I love having time to myself and being able to wander, without anyone getting annoyed at me taking photos of statues, murals, signs, and other random things I see!) The statue is located in Belvedere plaza, overlooking the Ohio river. Unfortunately the pedestal needed upkeep -- there were some broken panels as well as garbage strewn around. I had never heard of George Rogers Clark, and I didn't see any information around the statue about who he was, so I had to look it up. Apparently, he is the founder of Louisville and the older brother of William Clark of Lewis and Clark. I guess everyone in Louisville knows who he is, so why bother having any information for those not familiar with Louisville history? George Rogers Clark plays a prominent role in the history of the city of Lousiville so it makes sense he would be honored with a sculpture. For years I've always wondered what this statue was as when you are during the interstate you can clearly see a statue on the overpass. The other day I checked out Belvedere park and discovered it was George Rogers Clark. His body and hands facing towards the Ohio river with his head looking back towards the plaza and entrance as to say "you guys see this stuff?" Overall very cool sculpture and beautifully located. Was glad to finally make the journey through the plaza and discover this sculpture up close and personal.

Created by an artist who has a few sculptures on the campus named Dave Caudill. This piece was actually created in memory of a marketing and communications executive named Tom Peterson. Overall pretty basic but solid sculpture. As mentioned the artist has quite a few pieces on the campus and they are cool to check out and discover.

I hadn't visited st James court in a long time so when strolling by with my daughters and some friends the other day finding this lamplighter statue was a nice surprise. Very cool monument and very carefully and beautifully crafted. Overall, Really cool piece that adds even more beauty to the historic neighborhood and court.

Being a life long Lousiville resident I have no clue who this gentleman is. Why does he have a plaza? Why has he been sculpted into a statue? Turns out he is a big time hotel business man who owned and create a majority of the cities prominent and upscale hotels including the galt house which sits at the base of this plaza and statue. So there's the history. A wealthy and successful hotel king for the city. Always nice to see public art and learn some history about your hometown. Overall it's a nice statue. In a very scenic spot near the river and over looking one of his success story hotels.
