I called Kaiser to locate the urgent care and or to inquire where to go to get medical treatment. After i asked the question, I was put on hold for five minutes (hello healthcare (?) person someone is bleeding) The person on the line could not have cared less about the patient but was more concerned about whether they were at work. I said I just want to know where my friend can get stitched up. They said they could see about making an appointment as long as it wasn't work related. Then they couldn't make the appointment because I didn't have my friend's Kaiser number! My take away 1. Definitely not for emergencies, even minor ones. 2. No sense of urgency for people in pain. 3. Still no true care for locals who may get hurt at work. I'm not sure why this can't be sorted out later. 4. No empathy for people who are hurt. 3. After this experience, i can't think of them as a healthcare provider, more like a concierge appointment or minors hurt organization. Wait a few years before you sign up with them. They have very very limited services here. They are fine for the most Basic of care. You will have to go off island for most treatments. Worse than unhelpful for injuries at work. They don't have anyone on island to look at workers comp issues. They will not refer you to anuoneb When you call main office on Oahu for assistance they will act like Kaua'i is another county. In a few years I'm sure they will offer more service but rightly now it's more like a storefront health clinic.

Truthfully, without Dr Sparks, my vacation would have been ruined. I owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude. Dr Sparks was incredibly kind and has a bedside manner I haven't encountered in medicine in quite some time. His explanations of various care options were clear and well-thought out. He is an exemplary doctor. Additionally, he was very kind about making sure there was some follow up after the appointment, and told me to get in touch if I'm ever back in the area. He will be my first call if I'm ever back on Kauai!!!!

We waited about 10 min and he came out. What we thought was coral in my sons foot from surfing was actually a sea urchin. This Dr easily could've sent us to another clinic but he spent the next 90 min trying to get out as much as possible. If you look up the Aloha spirit you surely will see his picture. We appreciated him seeing us and thanked him so many times. We left with a wrapped foot, detailed instructions, and a surgical shoe for him to wear. Great clinic, great service, and very clean. This isn't the urgent care that came up but drove past it every day so we thought the hours were of this clinic not the other one in town. So glad we went to this one. There is a reason every single review is 5 Fee was $200 to be seen and they do not accept insurance. Our bill was $325 with a tetanus shot and shoe. Worth every penny!

Dr Kheng has been my PCP for over 20 years and she is awesome. Since the covid shutdown and to this…read moreday it's been difficult to get an appointment with her or any other doctor here. They also maintain their antiquated covid shutdown checkin process, ie, calling reception from outside on arrival, answering questions, then when you're allowed in, there's a temperature check, hand sanitizer. This place needs to know that the shutdown is over, and understand that covid is in the community and people do get sick of that, and other illnesses, and need them to act like a real medical center, and help their customers, double book if necessary, or they will go to another care provider. Thank goodness for HPH Urgent Care; they are lifesavers!

I called several times to try and find a new primary physician after moving here from Oahu. They told me i needed to fill out the patient paperwork in order to be considered. because they are only open until 5 and i dont finish until 430 i asked if they could email or fax me the paperwork. I called in a few times to have the paperwork faxed to me and it never came through. Turns out my fax machine wasnt working (which is not their fault). I fixed the fax machine and received the papers about (6 pages) i filled them all out and faxed it back the same day. i called the following week to follow up about my paperwork and if someone was supposed to get back to me. The first girl that answered simply told me once the dr. reviews it and makes a determination they will call me to schedule an appointment. I asked her how long that process normally takes and she just said "i dont know". At the urging of one of my friends i called back, because i really do need to see a dr. and advised the next girl who answered the phone that i did. she then told me that Dr. Kheng is not taking any new patients. This is the point where i have already lost my patience. If she wasnt taking any new patients why didnt they tell me sooner? like the first several times i called? why does it say on the HMSA website she is taking new patients? WHY did the send me all those papers to fill out if you arent even accepting new patients? what a complete waste of time. I am sure Dr. Kheng is a good Dr., but it seems like their office is so unorganized and cant get their information right between them. I also dont think "i dont know" is an acceptable answer.
