If I would have known what I know now about this company, I would have ran the other way when I was initially looking into bridge nursing programs.
I am attempting to pursue the LVN to BSN degree through Indiana State University. It has been brought to my attention through the College Network's contracted service, the Academic Support Center, that Indiana State is in "negotiations" with their contract for California residents and cannot accept California residents at this time. It was also brought to my attention that the amount of time these negotiations will take place for is indefinite, and that Indiana State University's decision to not accept California residents may be permanent.
I purchased 13 of their "modules" which I financed for a good chunk of money. I have passed 3 of the exams, and was currently in the middle of my 4th module when this news was given to me. I am in limbo, as I am sitting here with 9 other modules to complete, that I am currently still paying off, for a program that might not even accept me. I have reached out to the Academic Support center and they offered me assistance in finding a local program that will accept my CLEP, Excelsior college and TCN online exams for credit. Given the rather remote area I live in, there are no local LVN to BSN programs. There is an LVN to RN program at a local community college, however, I was eligible to apply for that program the moment I received my LVN license, as I already had completed the foundation courses needed to apply to an associate's degree program. The modules I have purchased are of no use to apply and be accepted to this community college transition program.
I was also offered the option to transfer the modules to a family member. Unfortunately, I have no family members in need of any college credits or any such thing. Given that these modules are now [potentially] useless to me, I have requested on a refund for the remaining 8 uncompleted/unused modules.
It is unacceptable that I should have to put my life on hold and sit in oblivion all while hoping for something that may never happen. If they cannot hold up their end of the deal, it should not be at my expense. If they were a company that upheld veracity, they would not have outstanding injunctions from the Indiana Attorney General's Office against the company's practices. I was given an e-mail address and phone number for their company from Academic Support. I have sent several emails asking for correspondence, with no response. The phone number has no option to leave a voicemail or speak with someone directly on any of the lines.
I have filed a complaint with the BBB and have received no response. I have sent a certified letter over 2 weeks ago and have received no response.
As a paying customer, I find this is unacceptable and unprofessional. Oh, did I mention that getting my reimbursement checks for my already passed exams is well overdue their "12 week processing period?" Horrendous business practices.
Bottom line: STAY AWAY! read more
