Actual Rating: 3.8 This review is for the downstairs play…read more It's a place where you just grab a table with your friends and then grab a game from their huge rack of games. Then of course, play and enjoy! Place: This playing area as I said earlier is down the stairs near the entrance. It's a lot more spacious than I would have thought, and it's pretty clean. They also have long tables which can easily each seat around at most 8 people. Activity: There's a lot of boardgames that you can play and of course, it's a first come, first serve type of thing so if the game you wanted to play is already being used, then you're gonna have to find another game to play. For me, I did not know many of these boardgames, but for those who collect and play numerous boardgames, you may know these games. Or just like me, you may not. But I think that's even better. If you haven't played the game yet, then have fun trying it out! *Since this place is a store, you can buy any of the boardgames there that caught your fancy upstairs. Price: It's free. Can it get better than that?!

In mid August, Jupiter Games opened on the Vestal Parkway (in the Plaza with Rite Aid, across the parking lot from Olums and Staples). This is a great game store. Personally, I'm a big fan of many of the "Euro-style" board games such as those produces by Rio Grande games. Most game stores tend to lean towards only carrying trading card games, or Miniature driven games such as Warhammer. Jupiter has a good selection of those games, but also carries a huge variety of card games, jigsaw puzzles, family games, strategic titles, and the Euro-games that I love. I make it a habit to visit gaming stores whenever I travel (God I'm a geek!)--and I'd stack this one up against anything that I've seen when I've traveled. They will be sponsoring tournaments, offer free wi-fi in store, and will be holding periodic Friday night game nights. We now have an excellent resource for gamers in the area--let's support it to keep it successful!

This place is absolutely amazing, regardless of your era. They have a vintage collection from just…read moreabout every gaming and toy era you can imagine, and the place is HUGE. Whatever your nerd heart desires, whether it is comic books, movies, cds, game consoles, action figures, clothing, plush toys, etc etc. This place will scratch your itch. Can't recommend enough.

I've visited this place once or twice a year over the past decade when I am in the area. Comparing…read morethe the many similar type stores around the country, I'll give a few points on this particular place. They have a pretty comprehensive variety in stock both among and between categories of both new and used/vintage (video games, music, movies, collectables, comics and so forth). Each category has its own section of the store. Their prices used to be a bit under the equivalent ebay cost even before shipping (if a game was $20 on ebay + $5 shipping, they would have it as $16), but over the years they caught up to, and are now basically same prices plus or minus a couple dollars even after considering shipping, however they will sometimes offer sales on categories (buy one get one 50% off or buy three get one free) which give them back the pricing advantage. The exception is the rarer stuff, which can be more volatile in price, so sometimes a sought after game can be somewhat over or under priced for example. I've bought dozens of games, comics, consoles from them over the years, all worked, and the one time I had an issue they resolved it ( I bought a complete run of new mutants which noted it had a reprint of 98, but did not note having a reprint of 87, so I was able to return after opening the set and finding this). On the selling side, I rarely sell stuff, but like anywhere, they are designed to make a profit, so if you are looking to sell for cash by definition you are not going to get market value, so I recommend getting store credit, and then waiting for a sale day to buy other stuff you want and you might end up ahead of the market rate on your trade in! The reason its not 5 stars is the place can be a bit cramped, and hard to browse if there are more than a handful of people in the area you are shopping, and they over pack the back issue comics bins such that you can't really flick though the issues, you need to pull them out of the tightly packed bin to see them, and if you want to buy something in a case (understandably most valuable items are locked in cases) it can take a while to get somebody to get it for you to buy.
