I have been seeing Dr. K since I moved downriver in early 2016. He is a great dentist! He takes the time to explain things and ensures you are comfortable and understand. All of the hygienists are friendly and very efficient. The ladies at the front desk are so sweet and friendly! I actually don't mind coming to the dentist because everyone is just so nice and you feel very welcome. On top of my regular cleanings and occasional filling, I have invisible braces (Clear Correct) through Cohen Modern Dentistry. I've been very happy with the progress! I feel like a freak because I love going to the dentist. Before I began visiting Dr. Cohen, I had already sat through a ton of dental work including a few extractions, countless fillings and a couple temporary crowns with several dentists. I *really* didn't like dentists before I met Dr. Cohen because my teeth had been treated carelessly by the dentists before him. But ask me now about going to the dentist and I'll say I love it. I mean, like everyone, I still hate getting my teeth cleaned and the terrifying sound of a drill against my tooth, but overall Dr. Cohen and his team make sitting in the dentist chair the best possible experience. I'm mainly updating my review to say this is still an awesome dental office. I now live in Dearborn but drive out of my way to have my dental needs taken care of in Wyandotte. I recently had to have 2 more crowns done (sucks, I know!) and they were both great experiences. Dr. Cohen and his amazing dental assistants always make sure to explain what he's doing, make sure I can't feel anything and that I'm as comfortable as possible. They even take care to put a moisturizer on your lips to make sure your lips and corner of your mouth don't get cracked during a procedure and give you sunglasses to keep the bright light (and water!) out of your eyes. His office still offers the amazing paraffin wax treatment, along with a nice, heavy shoulder massage wrap. They also have an iPad to play with while waiting for the doctor to come in, how cool is that? In addition, I noticed they made a few upgrades to the way they examine your teeth in regard to total body health. Again, if you're looking for an awesome, tech-savvy, considerate dentist with assistants and staff that truly care about you, please consider Dr. Cohen in Wyandotte. My family of 5 went to this dentist for several years, and just like all the other bad reviews, it became about the money. I had five crowns put in by this dentist and 3 of the 5 have fallen out after a year. The best part about the cancellation policy is you can't leave a message to cancel, but they don't answer the phone. If you have a appointment on Monday, and attempt to call on Saturday (they are open) it goes directly to an answering service. For a long time they have been working on fixing the problem, but never did. I also received one of those letter, hey find another dentist, but it was after ALL our major work had been completed, convenient. Yes they are very over priced, but I would like to mention the office does have some very sweet ladies that work there, Jen, Casey, just to mention a few. read more

I would not recommend this place. Although, the hygienist was pleasant and professional the rest of the business is not. My time there was rushed by the dentist and the office workers were disrespectful to me and were trying to bill me for services my insurance covered. When I expressed my concerns to the office manager they were not responded to and I asked yo close my case completely. They do not genuinely care for their patients only the bottom line. Dentist is decent, has good equipment and seems concerned with his patients. Front desk/checkout is unacceptable. The person there has a major problem dealing with patients- she is rude and unprofessional and gave wrong info. Even after insurance was called (not by her, I might add), she pulled an attitude when the insurance person clearly stated that the checkout person was wrong. You can do better, Dr. Cohen! read more

I used to be afraid of the dentist until I found this office. I was a patient for years after discovering it! I had a lot of work done that I had put off for years but they really made me feel comfortable so I did it. I called to cancel an appointment once but I was not aware the policy at the time was 48 hours notice. That was my fault for thinking it was 24 hours notice but then I was charged a missed appointment fee. Felt that was unfair since I did try to call to cancel but I was just wrong about the time frame, seems like a silly policy considering what if something happened less than 48 hours before and you were not able to do it sooner? So beware of that. Some years later, around Christmas time I completely forgot that I had an appointment until I got a call informing me I didn't come in for my appointment. I guess losing my mother around that time it slipped my mind but I'm not sure how I missed the reminder call as they are usually pretty good about that. Well apparently you are only allowed 2 strikes and your out. After being a long term patient with beautiful insurance I received a letter that I was no longer welcomed at their office and would need to seek another dentist. How nice. Things happen but apparently he doesn't need our business or care. (I will add that I was never offered any spa type services in the years I was a patient either, not sure if that is standard or only certain people get that perk. Definitely had nothing to do with the length of time you had been going there) So just be warned, VERY strict on their policies and are not afraid to lose your business. read more

So the airheads working at the front desk here are absolutely awful! I scheduled a return appointment after my cleaning and after receiving a confirmation I still had an appointment I went in, and the uneducated people at the front desk could not find the appointment in their system. I was ok with this, I asked the girl at the desk how this could happen though and she just started making all kinds of excuses, that made no sense, for herself and her co-workers who handle the desk-it was one of those, we don't want to get in trouble for this mistake, so she went crazy with these excuses. So I took the morning off of work for this mistake, as far as I was concerned THEY NOW OWED ME MONEY, since they state they will happily bill you if you make any such error that involves them. I would be concerned about leaving this cluster in charge of the billing as well, if they can't even handle keeping appointments straight. Luckly, by this point, I had enough and knew that I would stop returning to this dentist. Let me tell you about the dental visit, it was pretty awful as well. So when you go to a dentist for a first visit they are suppose to evaluate you for crowns, cracks in the enamel of your teeth, etc...This did not occur! I was a bit taken aback by this since I choose this dentist because it states on his website he handles crowns, I know that I need at least four crowns on my molars, or I will "lose my teeth" as at least three other dentists have told me! While looking at my teeth for the very short time he was in the room he was told by the hygienist that I had a cavity on one of my incisors, his response was "we can leave it for the next visit". As a patient it feels great when a dentist ignores decaying teeth in anticipation of you coming back next year for X-rays with him-very ethical approach here! Needless to say I asked why the dentist didn't evaluate me for crowns and do and in-depth exam of my teeth on the first visit and the interesting front desk girl said basically, he doesn't do this because he tries to not to put crowns on peoples teeth! I was horrified by this (because I don't want to end up with false teeth), and this was also the point at which I knew I would be going back to my previous dentist. And just a side note that the Yelp reviews are probably where the actual honest reviews about this dentist are, it seems like incentives maybe offered for positive reviews elsewhere or they are able to control anything they deem negative on other websites they recommend you use. There is not any business that could have a 99% satisfaction rate from 833+ reviews, this defies all logic and reason. This is a new, beautiful dental facility with all the latest and greatest technology. This dental office really has it together. Very organized and great staff. However, the main reason that I'm writing this review is for one dentist Dr. killgrove. He is absolutely AMAZING!!! I've had so much dental work done over the years from fillings to root canals to crowns to implants and let me tell you finding a good dentist is no easy feat and finding a GREAT dentist is almost impossible. However, I've found a GREAT dentist in Dr. Killgrove he is quiet but gentle. His shots are SO amazing that I never worry about getting the shots of which is almost the worst part. Additionally, he has done several crowns and they are perfect. The spacing between the teeth is just right. Many dentists have a hard time with this nothing worse than too big of a gap for food to constantly get stuck in between causing you to carry around a box of tooth picks anywhere you go. No one enjoys visiting the dentist, but when the office purposely deceives you to swindle more money from you, it sure adds more discomfort. I lost a filling and made an appointment to have it replaced. When I came in I was informed the Dr. would only be performing an examination, which confused me to say the least. I don't understand what needed to be examined... Before my appointment I went to CVS and purchased a temporary sealer to avoid getting food stuck where my filling used to be. The Dr. removed the temporary fix, as it was starting to fall out. He then confirmed that a filling had come out, and told me to schedule another appointment to actually do the repair.(Two visits, double the money for him) So on my way out of the exam room , I mentioned it was difficult to see to put the filler in the exposed cavity. The Dr. said "If you are having trouble seeing it, we can just go ahead and put that in for you, no problem". I asked "Are you sure?" He said "Of course, simple fix" So to put in the EXACT same filler I bought an entire bottle of for $3, he charged me $72 to do 30 seconds of work. The Dr. knew full well that no insurance covers it, yet purposely made me believe he was doing it to provide good service to a new patient.... Am I over reacting? Possibly. Interesting...I remember reading Alison F's review maybe a year ago regarding Dr Cohens office. I have been going here for years for dental work and have seen the practice improve and upgrade/update over time to a first class operation. Modern, clean, friendly. And customer service cant be beat. Anyway, I too had to have a major crown done last winter. No biggie, other than I would be there for close to four hours. I too was offered the parafin wax and some other perk that I cant remember what it is. I was a little shocked....and then I remembered Alison, and I told Dr Jason someone was Yelping about that service and how great it was. As he is very interested in patient satisfaction, he listened intently and took my comments to heart. I declined the hand wax as I was busy playing on my Blackberry, but tell you what: no matter what it is you are having done, from cleaning to a filling to major league restoration, Dr Cohen and his staff have NOTHING in mind but getting it right, patient comfort and satisfaction. Every step is explained. If you have an issue, from pain to your nose itching, everything stops until you are comfortable again. And you are not overcharged - fees are in line with whats reasonable and customary for our area. When you leave, you are happy you went to the dentist. Now SMILE. read more

I am a former anti-dentite. No, seriously, I was very, very, very afraid to go to the dentist before I came here. I finally made an appointment with Dr. Cohen after having some dental-related nightmares. I hadn't been to a dentist in about five years. However, my husband goes here, which is why I decided to try this one. Knowing my phobia, Dr. Cohen made it a point to sit down with me for a few moments before my exam and chat. He asked me to share my fears with him if I felt comfortable. I told him all my horror stories, and he didn't make me feel childish or irresponsible, unlike previous dentists. I felt very at ease with him after this because he seemed to really understand. This office uses the very best technology available, and it is worth it. It puts me at ease, especially stuff like the images they take of teeth, which they use to show you the condition of fillings and the like. I have had a couple visits here, including replacing an old filling and scaling. I have never felt an ounce of discomfort. You only have one set of teeth. If you care about keeping them and need a dentist you can trust, then go here. read more

If you love to get harassed for declining services that are unnecessary for this garbage dentist to make money off you then by all means This is your guy! My husband was harassed by 3 people for declining a service that was not necessary. Then Dr. Cohen himself comes in and harasses him even further. Funny thing too, I was harassed for denying the same service two years ago... I didn't have the service done and things actually got better (even though they told me the only way it would get better is by having this service done). I went home and adjusted my diet and dental care routine and the problem took care of it's self on it's own. Of course a Dentist or Dr. won't tell you that there are always natural alternatives to your issues because they don't make money off that kind of thing. It's also a shame... Perfect dental health, no cavities or problems and we STILL get harassed every visit and greeted with "So you are a big pop drinker huh?" How many times do we have to tell you NO! We don't drink pop and we don't sugar our coffee! Just because the majority of people in this area drink pop does not mean we do as well, so drop the stereotypes. I am sorry but as a patient who is paying you, YOU WORK FOR US! Dr. Cohen you're fired... We will find a new Dentist who respects us. read more

Absolutely abysmal in every sense of the word. They only schedule appointments two months out, they are unwilling to take patients on an emergency visit when the pain is a result of a previous procedure they performed gone wrong, they do not acknowledge you when you enter the building, cleanings take over 1.5 hours, etc. The list goes on and on. I have absolutely nothing good to say, and like I said, many more horrible experiences, but you get the idea. Every single person I've talked to has had similar experiences as me, I'm not sure how they have so many good reviews on here, you make your own judgment as to the reliability of overwhelmingly positive Internet reviews. They are arrogant and blatantly rude individuals, all staff, Dr included, as they seem to think the technology they use makes them indispensable. They are sorely mistaken. I just wanted to update my review because another action by this Dentist has really ticked me off. After paying them the $62.00 that they somehow thought I was "unwilling to pay" without any notification that it was even due, my husband received a letter in the mail stating that he should seek a new dentist and that Dr. Cohen will be happy to forward his records to the dentist of his choosing. Unfortunately, I believe this was due to my letter that I wrote to them with the 62.00 check politely but directly expressing my dissatisfaction with their office. Now, 4 months later Dr. Cohen took the time to write my husband a break up letter but not any time to express his regret as having lost me and my family as clients. If any professional cared about their clients, then they would have reached out after receiving my letter of dissatisfaction. Instead, Dr. Cohen signs another insulting letter to my husband "breaking-up" with him. It's too funny. Dr. Cohen should have saved his energy writing his lame break-up letter to my husband and his stamp because my husband and I and our soon to be born son are already planning on never returning to this arrogant dentist! I agree with Rikki W's review. I too have had my fair share of negative experiences. -I have had appointments take far too long. I once sat in a chair for over an hour while waiting to get a filling done. Why even take me back if you're not ready for me? -I had the same hygienist for several years then all of a sudden I got a different one which I did not enjoy. (I won't get personal) -I have had a crown done there which required 2 adjustments then fell out anyway. (After 1 year) When I tried to book an appointment to get the crown reset, they wanted me to wait 2 weeks! -Most recently I too received a threatening letter in the amount of $30.00. I called and it was explained to me that I exceeded my number of visits my insurance would cover. Funny that I was there a few months ago for more than an hour and I wasn't told of this charge. Its even more interesting that 30 seconds into my phone call disputing the charge, they knew exactly why and when. I had 2 cleanings and a crown reset. It has been more than 3 months since my last visit and I am just hearing about this now??? Keep in mind I received the letter April 2nd. I was given 5 days to pay before they send me to collections. The office is closed from April 3rd - April 13th. I really don't feel this office has their patients on mind. They have state of the art technology, but it means nothing without customer service. I never should have left my previous dentist. I was given new insurance that has a better coverage at Dr Cohen's office but I will gladly switch back. Paying more out of my pocket will sure be less stressful than full coverage at this office. As irritated as I may be, I find it intetesting that other people have had bad experiences there too. I was beginning to think it was just my bad luck. I am truly embarrassed for myself and the people I have referred there. They really had me convinced this was going to be my dentist for a long time. I was at Dr. Cohen's office today for a crown. As much as I dreaded going to the apt, it was one if the best experiences I have ever had going to the dentist. The staff is warm, kind, informative, professional and very accommodating to your needs. Dr.Cohen is great. He has all the high tech equipment, explained everything and really puts you at ease. He also does a wonderful job. He too is very professional and patient. I have to say getting a crown was a great experience overall. I would highly recommend this office and am very happy that I am a patient and should I need another crown I would not have any fear. read more
