At first I resisted the lure of expensive American coffee places like Starbucks and Costa as I…read morethought they were very pricey for what you get and did not want to form an expensive habit I could not afford however now I find myself becomming a customer of theirs and I cannot help myself. Based on the American coffee shop style Starbucks are everywhere on the high street these days, their coffee bars are relaxed places with sofa seating and low tables, the idea being the are a place to meet and relax while out shopping. They usually have some light jazz music playing in the back ground and you go up to the counter to get your drinks as there is no waitress service. They have a wide range of coffee and tea drinks and they also serve sandwiches and cakes as well. If you eat in you pay more for everything so it is cheaper to take away. There is a wide range of choices both in size of drink and type of coffee, I always go for an Americano without milk which is a strong black coffee. My favourite drink at the moment though is the mango frappe which is a cold drink mixing fruit juice and tea and it is very refreshing but not cheap. They have a great range of cakes and I love their cheesecake choices but again you do pay through the nose for their stuff which is the only downside.

The outside of the building is nice, but you can't tell how large of a spot it really is. I almost always order an iced mocha and sometimes depending where I am, I get looks of confusion. This time however, the girl behind the counter was all smiles and asked me exactly how I wanted my drink. I tried the drink, it needed a little tweaking, I wanted it sweeter and she gladly helped me out and was super friendly about it. The space offers tables to sit down. There is also sofa type seating in the rear. It was cozy, but not small, hip, but not trying too hard. There is also outdoor seating which is a nice plus. I instantly liked the vibe and my drink was good. If I lived in the area, this would surely be my new coffee spot.

I am not Starbucks loyal, I do not prefer Starbucks over Costa (Nero shall not be named). I go to…read moreStarbucks over Costa because I can pay with my phone. I feel very sophisticated and high tech doing this.... 1 point. Starbucks is usually a safe bet. You are not going to get coffee that tastes of nothing, (see other review). You ask for a skinny flat white you will usually get one. On occasion you will catch them making it with full fat milk, but they happily correct it when they realise you watch. Today I have had a skinny flat white with sugar free hazelnut shot (Costa no longer do sugar free hazelnut for some reason) and a Croque Monsieur, which is basically a fancy toasted ham panini with mustard. Flat white was very well done, tasted and looked lovely. Well done Matt you have redeemed yourself the last time you cocked up my porridge. The Croque Monsieur took some time, I think the other barista forgot about it because after a 'withering stare' it was promptly brought to me. It was however not sliced in half. Now I'm not meaning to sound petty, I don't mind not having my food sliced for me. Honest! But when they provide you with a plastic knife because they either think that A. You will stab somebody Or B. Steal the knife It makes it exceedingly difficult to slice yourself, but I gave it a good go. It was good as toasted ham sandwiches go, couldn't fault it. To wrap this up, whether you will get a good or bad experience depends on the staff and how busy they are. This Starbucks seems to be full of young teenagers and that sometimes shows in the speed and quality. On an ending note this Starbucks is also popular with large groups of teenagers who have around 1 drink shared between 6. So good luck getting a seat on prime times.
