Sometimes, you just want a good, old-fashioned, simple kind of breakfast. Toast, eggs, breakfast meats, and a hot cup of coffee. This place provides exactly that. It has that familiar, older style diner type of feel - no frills, but homey. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The food is all very good - basically what you'd expect from this type of establishment. The portions are generous. I'd love to see more combination options, as opposed to having to piecemeal an order together, but there are plenty of standard options to consider. I'm always happy to see biscuits in sausage gravy on a menu, so that's obviously one of my go-to options. Overall, a solid option for a reasonably-priced, traditional breakfast.

Small Mess with Turkey Sausage, Onions, and Green Peppers

It's rare that a breakfast joint actually has a good cup of coffee, but thankfully this place lived up to its name. After flying in at 5:30 in the morning from Fort Lauderdale, I was in desperate need of decent coffee and lots of it. I had a Small Mess (eggs, potatoes, Turkey sausage, onions and peppers) and it was more than enough food, hot, fresh and really tasty! One friend had a Scrapple Mess (still not entirely certain what exactly it is). While it wasn't bad, it's just not for me. My other friend had Cream Chipped Beef with potatoes and omg that was very yummy too!! Our waitress was fantastic! She was helpful without being overbearing and kept the piping hot coffee coming! The restaurant has a very welcoming, classic diner ambiance. It's much larger than it appears from the front of the building and everything was quite clean. Definitely recommend and will be back next time I'm in town!

Amazing diner food! Came here for some hangover food and did not disappoint. Service was quick. Coffee flowed the entire time. Sat at the bar and had ample room. We'll be back!

One of the best hole in a wall breakfast places. You know a place has to special when it opens at 4:30. This place to earth staff with a hometown feel to it. We came with some college friends from out of town. We were all so glad we chose this place. I had seriously one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. I enjoyed the French toast too. The prices are also pretty good! I certainly look forward to returning, having some more great breakfast food, and supporting this small business.

I love the super old diner feel. It feels like a small town diner you'd see in the movies. A great place to go for breakfast. I loved the pork roll egg and cheese sandwich. My dad swears by the mess- just all the breakfast food you want jumbled together.

Messin Around! Do the MESS! People who rate this one star are delusional. Must be tripping on acid. Talking about the MESS.

Food always good, prices decent. Place is small and gets crowded. They are now charging to park outside which seems odd for Downingtown.

Wanted to get some work in this morning and remembered that this place had a large enough seating…read morearea that I wouldn't feel guilty coming in and sitting at a table for a bit. Totally forgot how amazing their lattes are. About to get my second for the morning. Not sure if it's spring break around here or not, but there are a lot of families with small kids around, so bring some headphones if you come here to work. The latte's worth it, though.

When we stepped into The Farmhouse, one would not know that this building would hold the wonder…read moreinside that it contains. It is also much larger inside than you would think until you are in the space. There is a ton is space and a ton of seating dotted around the raw wood and metal interior and it feels very inviting to sit and spend time, enjoy pastries with friends, or even sit and get some work done, as it is not loud, but a very nice version of quiet. Never getting too loud even when the crowd picks up a bit or lots of orders are popping. The coffee was delicious. Made perfectly and just how it should be. Espresso drinks too the list for me, but there were so many different choices, and they all looked outstanding. However, where The Farmhouse really shines is in the crazy good pastries. They are so light and fluffy, so perfectly flavorful. The fruit tart was possibly one of the best baked goods I've had in many years. The effort that is put into producing their treats is definitely felt, and I am not sure if they make everything in house, but it certainly feels like it. There are many places that have great pastries, but not many get the European-style light and airy style just right with a bazillion layers. This place is at the pinnacle of that baking game. If you are in the area in the first half of the day, you value a good pasty, good coffee, nice people and a nice space, you should definitely make you're way to the Farmhouse. If you are nearby it's definitely worth a trip and if I lived closer, I could easily see this being my daily go-to. You will not find a fruit tart this good very often, so don't pass by and get there now and enjoy!

Stopped by for dinner and a beer in the Bottle Room, which shares its kitchen with Station Taproom…read more(and doesn't seem to have its own page). We made the trek up from Wilmington after seeing that the Bottle Room's tap list included a unique beer from a Knoxville brewery that we'd loved at a beer fest but had never found in our area since (Xul's PBJ Mixtape sour beer, a delicious and mind-blowing sour that somehow genuinely tastes like peanut butter, grape jelly, and white bread!). Props to Bottle Room for sourcing from both local microbreweries, but also from other delicious breweries around the country! Since our goal was beer, we hadn't put much thought into the food, so we were very nicely surprised that every bite was delicious, and we're already scheming which of our PA friends might want to meet us there in the future. We started with their tuna tostada special --- won ton chips with tuna poke, edamame, avocado, and some sort of wasabi dressing. This was challenging to eat, but absolutely worth the mess. Husband ordered their smash burger with truffle fries, which was a very solid and flavorful burger, and the truffle fries had excellent texture and flavor. I opted for their Ratatouille special, which offered the usual vegetable medley served over zucchini bread (a unique touch!) with burrata. The zucchini bread was a little bit sweet and a little soft, but the overall flavors came together nicely. We were happy to learn they offer crowlers as well, so you can take your favorite beers to go!

When my friend said they filmed the Blob there, say no more! I love things like that. They did have "Blob" menu items but I needed some good old comfort food. I asked the super hustling single worker in the diner between meatloaf or chicken croquette. She said the chicken croquette. Unfortunately they were out. I changed to fried chicken. OMG! The crunch could be heard outside. It was seriously crunchy without being over fried. The mashed potatoes were fresh and lumpy. I asked for extra gravy. Very peppery and flavorful. The salad seemed freshly made. I like the salad dressing is individually packaged. Seems fresher that way. Colleen was super attentive for being the only wait staff there. Very sweet and comforting after all the rude airline employees I encountered. The restaurant is a converted train car. Very retro. I love the look of it. It felt right to sit at the counter. It was pretty full when we walked in. Very chrome. Very retro. Very cool place to dine. p.s. they are NOT open 24 hours.
