I am new to the area, been working on cleaning and unpacking, decided coffee and donuts were needed for breakfast and stopped here for breakfast yesterday morning. The place was packed. The hustle and bustle of morning rush, but the young lady at the counter was on the ball and patient with my indecision. Even offered m a dozen card so when I get it all punched I can get a free dozen. The donuts were a wonderfully delightful experience on my tongue. Will not be long till I get that card filled I am sure Did I mention I am in the process of unpacking and moving here? Good. I will tell you I was impressed enough with this place at 7 am in the morning with how fast and efficient that after a hard day of unloading a 26 ft moving truck lifting furniture into place. I decided at 9 pm to try this places other half. The diner We walked in. Found a table as there was quite a few open. Waitress 1 walked by. I will be with you in a moment. 5 minutes later Waitress 2 said I will be with you in just a second. Did I mention that there were not that many tables filled. The counter was completely open. Several minutes passed, waitress 3 stops and says do you need menus? And has your drink order been taken. Still more minutes pass. Waitress 4 brings us menus and asks what we would like To drink. Still more minutes tick past and our beverages arrive. We place our order and the waitress disappears. Now after a long hard day of work and finally getting to sit down and relax. I drank my ice cold sweet tea half down in just a few sips. And I started watching the show. Waitresses running here and there with no real organization. Did not appear to the observant eye that there was any real logic to their madness. I have worked food service and customer service for over 3 decades. I have received awards from major national corporations on customer service. I admit I am hyper critical of customer service and its lack there of. I know this is a family owned establishment as my husband and I never eat at chain restaurants. We were excited to see if this would be our late night go to place. After about 20 minutes our food arrived. Our drinks were basically water from ice melting. Our food was placed in front of us and no refill was offered. The sandwiches were good. The fries were Luke warm. And our glasses were empty. The only sign of our waitress was from across the room and she was not making eye contact. None of the first 3 waitresses approached us they were too busy with the other 4 or 5 tables. Counter was still empty. After we finished eating, I was commenting to my husband about the lack of assigned stations, that management needed to divide the room up into areas so that the wait staff was not running over each other. The waitress we had came by asked if we needed anything else. We were done ready to leave only wanting our check. Then two of the other waitresses came by to see if we wanted to go boxes or a refill. I wasn't vocal in my critic of the staff. Or the place. I wasn't rude. I just was having a quiet conversation. I am not sure if it was overheard. But I was not impressed that for over an hour and 20 minutes in an establishment that had gotten such rave reviews: we were basically ignored on an evening and time that was not to all appearances busy. The total bill was 21 dollars. I left 25 percent tip only in the hopes that the waitress will recognize us next time: if we come in and work a little harder for the tip. I usually tip 30 percent. And 50 percent for outstanding customer service. And as the only mom and pop type place open 24 hours a day. We will most likely be back even if it is just for the donuts. read more

I feel I must complete this review. My sister and I went to Coffee & on Saturday afternoon June 17th. She ordered a chicken salad sandwich on French Bread and a side of potato salad. I ordered a Roast Beef on French dressed. The chicken salad was so salty my sister could not eat it. The roast beef was half burnt. The lettuce was a dark green, not sure what kind. The tomatoes and pickles were cut very thick not adding to what I thought would be a tasteful experience . I have been a frequent customer and have never had anything I didn't like served to me. We told the waitress what had happened. She tried her best to make things right under the circumstances. In the end we were only charged for the potato salad and one drink. At no time did the present manager come to speak to us preferring to let the waitress handle the situation. We were also told there was a different cook in the afternoon preparing the food. I was very disappointed as I had brought my sister there as a treat and to introduce her to Coffee &. Needless to say we were both disappointed. Not sure if I will be back---if ever. read more

Was only in New Orleans for 5 days, had to come here twice! The donuts are so yummy. The Beignets are the best in town.

Dropped in and picked up some donuts and coffee to eat in the car on the drive between Oak Alley Plantation & Barataria Preserve. Wish I'd tried the beignets, but we didn't have time to eat in and that seemed like a recipe for a mess in the rental car. Maybe next time! You probably aren't gonna swing by this place if you are a tourist touring the CBD & French Quarter -- but if you happen to be yelping for a good morning coffee stop along route 90B, this is the place!!! read more

Ate here again for the second time on Sunday. Both times for breakfast and it's always been great!!! Donuts are super fresh, bacon & eggs are good and I had 3 cups of the coffee. Service is as good as the food, both ladies very friendly! Cool, quaint little place, definitely a good spot on the way to the track! read more

THE ABSOLUTE BEST BREAKFAST SPOT ON THE WESTBANK BY FAR!! Coffee & is a restaurant situated on the Expressway right pass Barataria. It is the favorite hangout place for folks from the local area. As you enter the place you get a sense of how well known and popular it is amongst the locals. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering breakfasts & lunch options along with donuts and pastries. I ALWAYS order the same wonderful dish: Veggie omelet with Grits, and a biscuit with also a request of heavy on the veggies. It is exquisite!! A "veggie omelet" is my favorite breakfast dish at any place and I have been to most restaurants ordering this same dish across the city incl. some in N.O. (iHop, Parrot Petes,etc) but COFFEE & has topped them all!! The real eggs and the amount of veggies inside this omelet makes it the BEST!! It tastes so fresh and home-made. What a pity, I use to pre-judge this place as its old exterior and even the small quaint atmosphere interior I would think the food could not possibly be good. However, despite the judgement which had discouraged me prior to trying Coffe&, every single veggie omelette I've ordered has made me a believer in this Coffee& location and not to judge a restaurant by its shell. I come here a couple times a month late at night because there's nowhere else nearby. Food is always mediocre. Tonight was the worst. No other customers inside and it took 40 minutes for food to be ready. We left because the ghetto waitress had an attitude when she had the order all wrong and blamed it on us. This has become one of our favorite places on the Westbank for casual dining. Its like going home to mama! Everybody is friendly, the service is usually very attentive and the food is always prepared fresh. Great also for mid-afternoon coffee with friends as well as late night breakfast treats. Daily specials are usually a good deal. Also, their limted seafood menu is excellent and reasonable. Not a fancy place, but certainly a favorite of locals! Kinda like a trip back in time! read more
