Churrería El Moro has been around since 1935 making churros and they do it exceedingly well. This…read morelocation is located by the city center and after sight seeing, my husband and I decided to stop by here for churros. Luckily when we came last Sunday, around 2 pm, there was no wait for a table. An employee saw us and told us to sit anywhere. As soon as sat down, another employee brought us menus. We ended up getting: Grande Lechero, $54 MXN ($3.13 USD)- Large size coffee with milk. When our server brought over my husband's drink, she made a grand show of pouring the milk up high into my husband's coffee. I just wished I had gotten a video of it but it was definitely very fun to watch. My husband said his coffee was good (I didn't have any because I am not much of a coffee drinker). Combo 1 with Grande chocolate drink, $155 MXN ($8.98 USD)- So this combination comes with 4 large pieces of churros, 1 dip of your choice and also a chocolate drink. I ended up choosing a Mexican hot chocolate, which is made with cinnamon and sugar. Surprisingly the drink wasn't overly sweet. And really was perfect to dip my churro into the hot chocolate. For the dip, I picked cajeta, which is caramel made with goats milk. The cajeta was excellent with the churro. I don't know if this was the best churro that I have ever had, but it is definitely one of the top ones I have ever had. My husband also enjoyed the churros and the cajeta (he also liked my hot chocolate too). --------------------------- (Total= $209 MXN or $12.11 USD prior to tip) Wait time for our items was pretty quick. We waited less than 10 minutes for everything. Also credit card is accepted so my husband paid (We have the Costco Visa credit card which does not have a foreign transaction fee, which we used exclusively when we were not paying cash). Our server brought a card reader machine to our table when we were ready to pay (for those of you unaware, in Mexico, you will not be brought your check until you ask for it because it is considered rude to give it to you beforehand, assuming that you are being rushed). Overall, we had a really great experience at this location and highly recommend checking out any of the Churrería El Moro locations the next time you visit Mexico City.

The plain sugar dusting was our favorite. We personally felt there was no need for the dipping sauce which was too sweet (condensed cream). Hot chocolate is good for a cooler day. If you don't want to wait in the guaranteed line at Panaderia Rosetta across town for the famous guava roll, then come here it's the same bakery! It had indoor and outdoor and covered outdoor seating. It was awesome to sit outside and listen to the rain while I inhaled my bakery items. The guava roll of course- fabulous. They even have the jam you can take home with you. They also have a menu of non bakery items. I highly recommend this spot!

We were told the wait would be 30mins but it was over an hour. At some point the staff member removed our name from the list despite us standing right next to the door and waiting (and asking for updates) the whole time. The host was apologetic about this and tried her best to make up for it with a good table. Eventually we were seated and the menu was great. Really delicious food choices ranging from my Mexican flavors to more basic Western options. Scrambled eggs looked good, the piadina was delicious, as were the chilaquiles! Plenty of fresh juice options and pastries (from Rosetta)!

They had a pretty good crowd, that's when I noticed it was a churro shop and it was called El Moro. During my weeklong trip to Mexico City I ended up visiting this shop multiple times during all different times of the day and evening. This business I found out later has multiple locations and is one of the most famous churro shops in all of Mexico City. I really enjoyed them so much-their churros are made fresh all day I liked that this location was super clean and had plenty of tables to sit to enjoy your freshly made churros and coffee drinks. Speaking of coffee drinks, they have excellent coffee as many a mornings on this trip started with coffee from El Moro. Their churros are very inexpensive as they run about 16 pesos($0.95 USD) each.So we always grabbed a few every visit. The churros had a really good size to them and were just doused in cinnamon and sugar-they tasted perfect both sweetness level and texture-wise. I generally always ordered Americanos which ran 55 pesos($3.25 USD) Not the best value in the world but good enough/they matched up well with the fresh churros. Overall I would highly recommend stopping by El Moro if you run across one of them on your travels to Mexico City-I really enjoyed them and look forward to visiting them again on future visits to Mexico City.

There was a small line, and after ordering it did take a bit to get our food, but that was totally fine. Perfection takes time! The ambiance is very casual and geared toward a quick stop. There's plenty of seating for an easy in-and-out, but it's not really a place meant to linger. It's more of an open-concept setup-covered, but still open to the outside air. We ordered the mini ice cream churro sandwiches (can't remember the exact name): two vanilla and one Fresca, which was basically strawberry. Maybe it was because we were hungry, but wow- they smacked. The vanilla paired with the churro was especially incredible. Since I felt like I still hadn't gotten the full churro experience I was craving in CDMX, I hopped back in line and ordered the classic churro. Let me tell you... this thing was HUGE. Basically three churros in one. It came out warm, perfectly crisp, and coated in the best cinnamon topping. You're asked if you want sugar or cinnamon sugar, and with a bit of a language barrier (they don't speak much English), I just said yes and ended up with half cinnamon, half sugar. No complaints here! The cashier and staff were all super friendly and smiley, which made the experience even better despite the communication gap. Overall, such a delicious stop and 100% worth it.
