Two and a half years since my first visit to Cody Dock and a lot has changed. The cafe is no longer on the boat, the latter looking ready to be launched on the river soon. There is a lovely garden to welcome you in and a covered seating area to enjoy your coffees.
I have only ever come here by way of a river walk and it's such a wonderful discovery, easily one of the best community projects in London as there is no obvious community nearby, Cody Dock being surrounded by ugly light industrial units. Apparently families from this part of the Lea Valley come here to discover the river for the first time.
Not for the faint hearted, the riverside walk is more of an urban explorers trek than a walk in the park but it offers a view of London in transition. It's only a matter of time before the junk yards separating Canary Wharf and the river are turned into luxury flats. read more
