As an adult learner, with ADHD, I needed a program that would get me the basics quickly and efficiently. BCI's program is relatively short and you can even sit for your certification exam if you pass all their required tests even before the program ends. While preparing for the exam, you should start filling out applications and applying at all hospitals for employment. I got hired right after getting my certification which I got before the program ended and was able to work and do my internship at the same time! Learn and memorize the material so you can show your employer you are really ready to be a confident employee! Persistence is key here, the economy is an up and down thing, so you have to keep applying for positions and ask the staff to help you get an internship. As soon as you start the program, start the process of internship because the hospitals can be slow when getting new help. But if you hang in there and keep trying to get hired, you eventually will. I really enjoy the work at the hospital I am at. You are really doing a great service for the public! BCI keeps their curriculum simple and to the point. Enthusiasm, and a never give up attitude is what makes things happen! When I got my interview, I blew them away with my eagerness and interest in the job! Show your employer you really are the person they want for the job and you will not fail to impress them. I recommend BCI, if you are an independent learner, know what you want and are willing to do what it takes to get hired!

That matched our experience perfectly. The tuition is steep - though financial aid is available! - but everything else was fantastic, and we were consistently impressed with the teachers, curriculum, field trips, awareness of kids as individuals, interaction with administration, and more. My mom worked for decades in early childhood education, and (as an interested and involved grandparent) was also very impressed. They welcomed/encouraged heavy parent involvement, from "come into the classroom to talk about something you're knowledgeable/passionate about" to occasional parent-meetups-over-coffee in the morning and more. But I was never, ever made to feel guilty about not being able to participate heavily, which was the norm once we had our second kid. (Who also went to LES for preschool, once old enough.) We can't speak to their K-8 experience, but for preschool/pre-K/TK they were fantastic.

I was pretty disappointed in this place. After waaaay too…read moremuch effort trying to sign him up online, I called and was told this wasn't surprising since the website is problematic, so someone there had to do it over the phone for me (which took forever). I signed my son up for a science class for homeschooled kindergarteners. First of all, it's *incredibly* expensive. It was several months ago (I should have written this review sooner!) but I think it came to almost $800 for what was probably 10 classes (Sept. thru Nov.). WOW. Even as I'm typing that it seems insane. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting but whatever they did, I guess it wasn't it. They studied the workings of the inner ear for the first few classes and then water quality for the last few. I guess I was expecting something a little bit more 'kindergartenish' - and I don't really mean dumbed down because my son is pretty bright and loves to learn new things, but I just thought this was a bit - beyond? Over the top? Maybe not fun enough? for 5 year olds. I guess I assumed it would be how a baby chick grows or dinosaurs or something 'cool' like outer space that would get them excited about science. Not the workings of the inner ear and water quality. Which leads me to the teacher. Nice enough woman and probably more than qualified (she was a dr. of something) but not what you'd expect for a kindergartner teacher. She was a dr./scientist - and maybe a teacher comfortable with older kids, but I didn't see her as a good fit with small children and making the classroom a fun experience for 5 year olds. As well, I never had any idea what was happening in the classroom as I asked on THREE separate occasions - the teacher and the woman who runs the program - to send me *something / anything* resembling a syllabus for the semester / even just a simple list of what they'd be going over in class, and although I was told it existed and was promised one, I never received one. With this being said, most people probably bring their older children and I can't speak to that experience, but I'd never pay that amount of money again for this course.

The timing on Tuesday afternoons has also been very convenient for "Early Release" in Newton.

Posted on behalf of my mother:…read more In the past seven years, I have sent both of my daughters to Victor. Both of them needed some supplemental help in math in preparation for the SATs and Victor was able to provide exceptional service. Through his small class sizes and individual attention, he makes sure that everyone understands all the concepts before moving forward with the material. He places an important emphasis on understanding the material on a fundamental level and applying the concepts in ways that reinforce the concepts. Victor is also exceptionally diligent and patient, often offering a smile and encouragement whenever his students become frustrated. With his help, both of my daughters performed very well on the SATs and were accepted to top Ivy League universities. For these reasons, I highly recommend this school.
