The hot dog had a different style bun but still wasnt anything special, dont get me wrong it tasted good but nothing to rave about. The mac and cheese was terrible, dont ever get it. But the worst thing was is that my order took almost 25 minutes for me to receive. They put priority on the orders of the 3 of the 5 people that came in AFTER me. I get that they're regulars but come on. Plus there was a couple behind me that had waited quite awhile with me before they finally got their food and they came in 5-10 mins after me.... anyway the people are very nice but the food takes a longggggg time to be served. What a racket!! I was so excited. I had eaten here before and loved the panini I had from there. I figured I'd get delivery. It is only 8 minutes from my house so even with a panini it should be fine. I ordered from Grubhub and they quoted me 50 minutes. I waited and 70 minutes when by. No call. I called them. 'Oh the delivery guy got lost. He will be there in two minutes. His GPS broke.' I waited. Then I got a call saying 'I'm here with your food.' (I left detailed directions that I was at xxA not xx, last door and to ring #_) I said I'd be right out. But no one was there. Tried calling Code 10 but no answer. I get a call again 'I am here, come down' then argued with me about where I lived. he was down the street. Didn't even look at the address. I even topped 20% since the weather was rainy. Finally made it back to try the vaunted hot dog. I convinced my co-workers to skip Flour for once and try out Code 10. They got the Code 2 (chicken/swiss/dijon panini), mac and cheese (apparently fantastic), as well as the Turkey Delight (good as well). I picked up the quarter pound hot dog, topped only with dijon mustard. Quite good. As with most items at Code 10, the weenie itself was grilled on the panini press prior to being slapped into a New England-style bun that was itself (surprise!) grilled on the panini press. Code 10's is a natural casing dog that puts that of Nathan's to shame. So substantial is the casing that absent a finger on the back of the dog to hold it down, it's quite easy to get weenie-slapped across the nose (with a resulting mustardy mess) when the meat flips up during mid-dog bites. So substantial is the casing that it continues its crunchy tooth when it has transitioned past the incisors and onto the molars. Overall, an excellent dog; and at $3, less than half the price of its superior counterpart at Speed's much further down Mass Ave at Newmarket Square. Next, a smoothie. read more

Pretty weak. Ordered from them an hour ago using Foodler. 50 or so minutes pass, I check my e-mail. Foodler has e-mailed me that their espresso and Americano machine is broken, and that they have tried to reach me, and that I need to call them. Well, they didn't try to reach me. Phone right here. No call. They had my number. But, I call them. No answer. Call again, a rude guy answers, tells me my order has not gone out yet, no apology offered or anything. "You want regular coffee?" he asks. Well, yeah, I guess. "Okay," he says, then hangs up. Too much competition out there to treat people like that. No matter when the food arrives, or how good it is, they won't get my business again. read more

The coffee here is a good substitute if the line at Flour is too long, but I have not been impressed with the sandwiches. Prices seem a little steep and the grilled sandwiches I've had have been greasy with pale tomatoes-- never something that makes me want to order more. The staff isn't gushy or overly personable, but I've never had an issue with them. I'm vegetarian, but I recently found out that Code 10 has veggie dogs-- I'm looking forward to checking them out some day when I don't feel like bringing lunch to work. read more

I have passed by this place many, many times, but finally decided to check it out. After perusing their menu, I decided to order one of the chicken salad sandwiches. I definitely love chicken salad and this sandwich does not disappoint. The bread was soft and light and the chicken salad was fresh and had great flavor. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. I made an order from code 10. The guy refused to come upstairs to my door. I ordered because I am babysitting a small sick child and I cannot leave. I then left the kid and went downstairs. I asked the delivery guy to close the front door and he said I had to say please....I Said no as I was already irate that I was paying for delivery yet I had to leave my apartment. Order 4 hot dogs, (1 naked, 1 with saurkraut, mustard, relish, 1 with chili and mustard, 1 with mustard. ketchup and onions). Send. 9:29 hot dogs in my hand! YAY! Great hot dogs. The chili was awesome. They put it on the side in a little container so the bread doesn't get soggy. Amazinggg. Also the serving was super generous... enough for 2-3 dogs depending of your level of chili. Sad we didn't try any sides or anything but we will be back to try them. Ordered dinner from here on Tuesday. I got the Da Chicken Code Sandwich on Rosemary Foccacia. The sandwich was large and had a lot of interesting ingredients, like walnuts and cranberries. I live near here, so have stopped in many times and I've always been waited on quickly and cordially. The last few of times we've been (in the evening), it's been the same guy and he's very friendly and we always chat with him while he's scooping our ice cream cones. Speaking of, I highly recommend the ice cream. Lots of different flavors of regular ice cream and 2 delicious flavors of Frozen Yogurt (Coffee Heath Crunch and Mint Chip--both very yummy!). They do only take cash, but they've priced a small ice cream cone so that it's exactly $3 with tax. I've only eaten a meal there once--a Reuben sandwich for lunch and it was solid, not amazing, but solid. Personally, I keep going back for the frozen yogurt! read more

Mm, I love a good sandwich shop. The turkey delight was okay. Nothing spectacular, but I'm always happy when there's avocado on my sandwich. 3.5 stars for that sandwich. But, I don't know if I was just starving when I ate it or if it was really incredible, but the fresh mozzarella sandwich (with mozzarella, tomatoes, roasted peppers and pesto) was delicious! I got it on focaccia and highly recommend it. Also, their smoothies are pretty good. I've gotten 3 here, each time with different (fresh!) fruits and a scoop of ice cream, so you aren't being too healthy. Definitely hit the spot on hot summer days. Also, you can order online through foodler. This is probably only necessary right at noon, but it's always nice to go into a place and they already have your order (though I did this both times I got sandwiches, and neither time they had it ready for me right when I walked in...but I could have been early, who knows). read more

Best thing about this place are all the awesome toppings you can put on your dog. They have tons of great hot sauces, ketchups and mustards with all sorts of interesting flavors. The dogs themselves are not particularly extraordinary, but decent. Ice cream is very good. Overall though, for what you're getting, and especially the take-out/ almost fast food atmosphere, the prices are a bit high. Never had aby problem with service here, however, so I don't know what these other reviewers are talking about. read more

In keeping with healthy eating between meals out, I've been trying the salads from different places in the area and Code 10 did a pretty decent job with their chicken caesar salad. The chicken itself was a bit bland, but the accompanying rosemary foccaccia bread was hot and fresh. The folks here are friendly too, so it may be worth another stop down the road. read more

As you all know that work in the South End is that there are limited places with good food and who deliver. They do have good sandwiches and ice cream I give them that. The only reason I'm giving them a 3 is because they have messed up my order a couple of times maybe 3 and may have forgotten to put something in the order. I have worked in the South End for about 3 years and have only visited this place twice, for a reason! The staff arent that great. There is an older man, probally the owner, who is nice enough but I think he only hires family because the other staff are rude and very unwelcoming. I once called in an order and the young girl who worked at the ice cream bar answered and just said "yes" and it took me back a moment and when I asked if this was Code 10, because I assumed that no eatery would answer a phone like that, she never answered the question and just said "what do you want". OK, this place is right around the corner from me, and I've been avoiding it because it is easier to avoid going somewhere when you don't know how good it is. I found this place to be confusing to order in. There is no discernible place to stand in line to order, and the menu is both handwritten and not totally accurate. The hot dogs, as far as I could tell, were not on the menu at all, but they are a huge part of the business at this restaurant. The guy working the register obviously no idea what was going on as he messed up the order of the guy in front of me and totally relinquished my order to someone else. I get the feeling he was new there. Despite these shortcomings, the quality of the lunch was unavoidable. The hot dog was DELICIOUS. Seriously.... i'm going to have to figure out another way out of the neighborhood, because if I have to pass this place every day, my gut is going to be in serious trouble. read more

Code 10 is a small neighborhood restaurant. Very South End, very distinctive. The menu features a wide selection of sandwiches, soups and salads... as well as an array of hot dogs! (Even "naked" dogs!). The offerings are nicely accented by unique condiments (Raspberry mustard! Delicious!). Everything is fresh... Code 10 is right next to where I work, and although I feel like lunch spots are slim pickings around here, Code 10 is the best for a delicious and quick lunch in this area near BUMC. I almost always order the grilled cheese with tomatoes and pesto for only $5, and the smoothies are downright good. I'll grab a cookie or bar on my way to night classes to hold me over too. I like Code 10 because it fills an essential niche in the neighborhood. Sometimes you want a really quick and simple meal, like a chicken sandwich and a smoothie. Code 10's got that for you. And they do a just fine job at it too. Understand that you're not going to get fancy ingredients like at Blunch or Flour, which are both superb sandwich shops, but you'll be in and out quicker with a solid sandwich in your hands and a lot more change in your pocket. I don't get some of these reviews commenting about rude staff. The older man who is always working behind the counter has been nothing but kind to me. The reason why I'm giving this place a 2 at all is because their food is good. Customer service and delivery time: VERY POOR. Food takes too long to deliver, considering that my workplace is also in Boston. There was a time when the food took half an hour at the best timing. After the first few times of ordering, it would take an hour, which to be fair, is still within the promised 45-60 minutes. Today, we ordered food at 12PM and it didn't arrive until 2PM. TWO HOURS. Of course, my co-worker called and asked about the status and the owner once again promised 5 minutes which took another 20 minutes. When the delivery person arrived, he called and asked my co-worker to come outside to pick up the food. They have been doing this the past several deliveries and giving attitude on the phone and when delivering orders. This is highly unprofessional, poor customer service, and lazy of them. I don't think we'll be ordering from them again. Food quality went from good to worse each time we ordered. Very disappointing. read more

Sandwiches here are pressed, and I'm a huge fan of melted cheese. Soups are hit or miss, and I've nevr had a chance to try the home made ice cream. Prices are typical of south end, and the location is convenient for me. In the summer, it's fun to sit outside and people watch, though it gets a bit gross when it's windy and the buses keep driving by on Washington. read more

I love Flour's sandwiches, but today, I refused to wait in line behind 13 people for lunch. So, I popped across the street to Code 10. I'm happy to report that there were about 5 or 6 people eating in there. (Re: previous yelp reviews -- I think it really is a cafe!) Ordered a turkey sandwich with sundried tomato on french bread, and it was pretty enjoyable. Nothing out of this world, but the bread was fresh and crusty and the portion wasn't overwhelming.
