I have been here twice, great food but it is very noisy! Best for groups and not for a quiet date.

Brilliant Old style traditional Family Italian restaurant. Really worth the trip up there if you…read moreare not local. I would say the best Italian restaurant I've eaten in except for one I went to in Italy years ago. Simple but elegant menu with very reasonable prices. But watch out for the specials. They sound (and look) delicious, but are always more expensive. Stick to the main menu and you'll be very pleasantly surprised at the bill. I only go there on special occasions as I want to keep it, er, well special. :) General description of menu. They don't do Pizzas (thank god), but they do all the standard Italian grub to perfection. But, usually with a little extra flourish. So, pastas, meat, etc. Terrific Entrees. Superb salads (their dressing is to die for). Recommended If you like Veal, look no further. And brilliant value: Around £8 for the Milanese (in breadcrumbs). Great fries too (home made). All the pastas are superb. Particularly the seafood. Terrific veggies. And they do them properly. So for instance spinach done the way it should be. Every kind of potato dish you could ask for. Dessert is a trolly, but very good. But be careful how much you order for starter and main if you want dessert, as they do not skimp on the portions. Order small at first and if you need more, order more. Or you won't be able to get in your car. LOL! Top recommendation: The king prawn Entree in butter. Get this and delight in the huge juicy prawns and gobble up the sauce (to die for) with the bread. Wines: Nothing special but adequate and reasonable. But they do have a large range of grappas and anything else you like to drink. And NOT over priced. This restaurant was run by the owner and his son, Daniel, for decades until the owner died a few years ago. So now run by the son. The chef is his wife. So it's a real family restaurant. And yes, the waiting staff are very cheeky, attentive and hug you or shake your hand as you arrive and leave. You mostly have to book as it's very popular with the locals and regulars. And people do travel for miles to visit. Treat yourself, make a special trip to a special restaurant.

My friend and I enjoy going to new restaurants and not knowing what to expect. The menu was enticing so we thought why not!! I ordered delicious musses for my starter and a huge spinach and ricotta pizza for my main. We were so impressed by the price - so reasonable! The staff were ever so friendly and helpful as we wanted to add few ingredients to our pizzas. Very Italian decor with the Mediterranean terracotta yellow beams and flax wood tables and chairs. Setting the scene! Great place for groups, families and friends. Atmosphere is warm and relaxed and the price points are fantastic considering the amazing quality and taste of the food... Check it out!

Attentive waiter, took order.... garlic bread pizza was great.... then the main courses came and it all went rapidly downhill. All the food tasted "past its shelflife". Clearly cooking from frozen or with ingredients that have been hanging around far too long. The lasagne, spaghetti bolognaise and pasta seafood all tasted old, a bit rancid and bland. The lasagne I ate, I was hungry but actually didn't want to eat too much for fear of getting food poisoning. The pasta was a bit gooey as it was old and already decomposing. This restaurant is terrible, I will never go back.

But step inside and you will be overwhelmed with the the effusive friendliness of Carmella who runs the front of house like a typical Italian mother, wanting an update on all your family news and likewise bringing you up to speed with hers. Meantime husband Rocco is cooking the most delicious food in his tiny kitchen, whilst various other family members are roped in to help serve. Unfortunately I just so love their Scaloppa Milanese -Veal in breadcrumbs - (and never have anything else!) that I cannot speak for the remainder of the menu which includes many other veal varieties and a huge selection of pastas. I always have Minestone soup as a starter, but yesterday my son had Bianchetti Fritti (fried whitebait) which he said was fantastic (and served in such huge quantity that it could have been a main meal). He also had Linguine Lobster which as a cookery fan he said was truly delicious. Prices are reasonable, but the taste and quality of the food is up there with the best - go try it! It's the secret gem of the Barnet/Finchley area.

Thank God for Sole d'Oro, part of the Saracino pizza chain, authentic Neapolitan pizza with oomph! I ordered my usual, 4 seasons, which appeared as if by magic from the wood fired oven within minutes. Unlike the staff at nearby Rimini the staff are polite and friendly..... Had great food here tonight, the veal and aubergines with cream and truffle olive oil was like a coronary sent from heaven. Will have to jog twice as hard to shift the inches the food has added to my belly My girlfriend had the seabass with tomatoes...which was perfectly balanced... not too sweet like tomato sauces can so easily be.... The fish perfectly cooked...but it would have been nicer if the skin was just that bit crispier The veg was great, luckily my girl was kind enough to take my beans and give me her broccoli. The bread which was homemade, was wonderfully nutty especially when I asked it to be toasted, and absorbed the flavours of the both dishes beautifully Looking forward to coming back.... The best Italian food I have had since I ate in Manhattan.. This place is a massive improvement from what used to be here before... hopefully this place is here to stay Thanks to Louis and his staff for having us....
