Visited Sun July 10 in the morning as a drop in user…read more Pros - This place is huge at 8,000 square feet! - They have lots of specialized Hammer strength machines and free-weights. - THey is a seperate cardio room with about 15 upright/reclining bikes and TV's - They have a smoothie bar, it looked a bit odd because it is right beside the cardio/stretching section - Change rooms are decent as well, they have a second set of smaller change room which are in pretty rough shape - The gym is connected to the Howard Johnson hotel, so hotel guests can use the facility as well Cons - The gym doesn't offer first time trial pass, I've visited over 10 gyms and been a member of 3 so far and ALL of them offer a first visit trial pass. Why would anyone join a gym without trying the gym first? To add insult Sue stated that by not having a trial pass "this would separate the boys from the men". Which would imply that I am a boy because I wanted a trial pass. Do I look like a boy? I did not get a membership to this gym and will not join. Allowing a first time user to come doesn't even cost the gym anything an additional operating cost. - The decor in some parts is a bit off, the back of the cardio room used to be a bar and looks like it is caged. - The retail store looks pretty sad as well - They have about 400 members and many do not come regularly - They have tanning beds, you really shouldn't be tanning as UV rays cause skin cancer Protip - Try Nanaimo Athletic Centre 5 min up Bowen road, it's a smaller in terms of space but they have a sense of community and over 600 members from what I can tell. I explained my severe sensitivities as well as expressed my concerns I had with getting extensions and she answered all my questions, and put my mind at ease. It took just over 2 hours and when i opened my eyes I was AMAZED at the results. She did such a beautiful job. I am now officially addicted!! Thank you soooo much Miss Sybil for my beautiful lashes!!!
