I've been a loyal customer with Franklin Animal Clinic (Franklin, PA) for decades. I enjoy the vets, I've had minimal problems, and care was mostly on-par with expectations. When my Saint Bernard, Bernie, was in the midst of failing this week, a call was made to alert them that Bernie was on his way, was in severe pain, unable to walk, difficulty breathing, really struggling, and we needed to see someone immediately. We had an arrival time of 12:40 pm however, we were told that they were "closed for lunch until 1:00 pm" and even worse, they couldn't see him until 1:40. Now, I don't know about you but what has happened to compassion and sensitivity in this world? You have a dying dog in your parking lot and the response is "Wait until our lunch is over?" Bernie died in the back of my vehicle in their parking lot that day. He never made it in to see a vet for either a diagnosis or to be humanly euthanized. I'm a huge advocate of promoting local business but for this to happen, I'm disheartened. I'm going to turn commenting off on this post because this is strictly for informational purposes. I wanted to put this out there for you to form your own opinion on this facility based on this experience. Our pets are so important to us and to know that my Bernie died in the parking lot waiting for a vet is unacceptable. I'm heartbroken it ended like this but, at minimum, I'm glad Bernie was surrounded by his family, getting belly scratches as he took his last breath.

I had asked Dr. Salinger to come to my home to euthanize my 17 year old dog. I agreed to 10:00 am,…read morewhich I in retrospect was a ghastly error on my part. Dr. was punctual. Very professional. She allowed plenty of time for our last goodbyes. My old girl hadn't had a chance to rise from a long nights slumber and get the morning's usual long long drink of water. It wasn't until after Dr. couldn't find a vein that I realized why. She didn't know that my dog was in much better shape than she thought. I was unprepared for an abrupt needle that delivered the 'sleep' medicine. My dog took a seizure. Very upsetting to me, as I was expecting a quiet passing. Dog was immediately unresponsive then gone. Dr. was kind enough to explain to me when I called the next day about why the shot needed to be delivered in the manner it was. Perception, I guess. Dr. Salinger completed the task asked of her. She did it well. Very professional, kind lady. She was not familiar with my doggy beforehand and that's on me. Special Lady.

All the veterinary offices were closed here and I was at a loss of what to do. I frantically called out of state for any sort of explanation of what was happening to my cat. This vet in Ohio was so sweet and helped calm me down and reassure me that by my description my cat was okay and was probably stressed out because she was at least responsive. Thank you so much for your help she is doing much better.

We made an appt the next day. they told us he needed emergency surgery (after doing a scan) for a penny causing a blockage. When she (dr Baird) got in there, she said the penny was in the stomach and not even causing the blockage (you didn't see that on the scan??) the vet then proceeded to tell us that his intenstine was severely damaged, (and she had no idea why) and there was so much fluid around it , and had to do a biopsy. he stayed the night. I had to call at 1 pm the next day to ask about him..only to be told that the vet would call me back. 1.5 hours later, the TECH called me. Said he can go home w/meds and special food. I asked for the Vet to call me because this didn't make sense to us, and the tech said that she was at home and would call in the morning! (It was 3 pm) Long story short, our puppy got worse and worse, with NO CALL from the vet to ask how he was!! It was the weekend and no one to call! Monday we took him back, and the vet STILL had no biopsy results back. basically our puppy was dying, so We made the choice to put him down. We went into a room with a TECH, again, NO VET, and DR Baird NEVER even came in to meet us, to express her sympathy, or explain the process. $2000 later, we lost our puppy and never even met the Vet that "took care of him." I would never go back there, nor recommend them. Just awful how they handled this situation!
