I was selling my van and potential buyer took it to them for inspection. They looked at it and said it needed new brakes, full suspension, and all kinds of things were said needed. This van has 60,000 miles, and was fully maintained since I owned it. There was a vacuum leak causing vents to switch from front to defrost that the potential buyer wanted to have looked at also and paid them to diagnose. By the time they were done, the potential buyer was told the front and rear a/c was leaking and it would cost around 10,000 for the repairs if he purchased it. The buyer declined to buy the van. When the potential buyer informed me of the findings, I looked at all the things that were reported and found nothing wrong with any of the parts they said and the ac leak was just a vacuum line that was off on the rear A/C. They tried to scam this old man and screwed me out of the sale which just goes to show, THERE ARE SO MANY CROOKS in the auto repair business and Cobra has shown to be one of them. I have lived near there for over 15 years and since they started have been a dishonest shop trying to scam people who are unsuspecting of their dishonesty. I've taken my Jeep to Stamps Auto in San Tan Valley in the past and received great, honest service. I brought it to this location to have an inspection and an oil change expecting the same experience. I came in knowing my horn was not working and my HVAC controls are going out. The inspection showed everything in great condition including horn. I called to let the gentlemen at the front desk know and that I was unhappy with my experience specifically because I knew going in that my horn was not in working condition. He offered to make it right if I'd come back to get those items reviewed again and that he'd offer me a discount to have them fixed. While I did not do this I appreciated the gesture but was not willing to bring it back at that point. Fast forward to just over 60 days later and I take my Jeep in to a more reputable car shop because of noises in my right rear wheels. Come to find out my back breaks and rotors are in need of immediate attention and are completely warn down. Something that Stamps inspection said was in great condition. Now mind you, there has been very minimal driving in the last 45 days due to the quarantine and my work being one of the first to start work from home before it was mandated. Beware: Dishonest advertising. Pre-paid on an advertised promotion for an oil change. It said appointment required Left several messages to schedule an appointment. Never received a call back. Finally got through to a human -- they said they don't take appointments for oil changes. You must literally drop your car off @ 8AM, you can pick it up at the end of the day. I had a horrible grinding sound going on with my car and called Cobra to have it looked at. They said to bring it right over and they would check it out. I dropped it off and got a call back a couple hours later saying that they got it fixed and there was no charge! I had just recently bought new tires at a different place and they had a brake pad cover misplaced and it was rubbing. Cobra fixed it and didn't charge me a dime even though they didn't install my tires. That shows a lot about their integrity and doing the right thing. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

First off these guys are legit, they are honest and not out to screw you over. My situation was a noise from the rear of the car at my wheels and my brakes were mushy. Had them take a look and see what it was. They asked me at Cobra if the car had been wrecked and repaired previously. Yes, it was about 5 months ago my daughter got into an accident and we had to repair the right side of the vehicle. They diagnosed the issue, after looking at it, and let me know the right side of the cars suspension was loose at almost all of the bolts. That is where he told me whomever did the repairs did a very poor job and what the issues were. They were all literally finger tight! The right rear tire almost literally fell off they said. Had it not been COVID times where we are hardly driving it, we would have gotten into a horrible accident and if it was the freeway we could have died. Here's where Cobra Tire and Auto Center hooked me. They initially told me they wouldn't charge to look at it and let me know what's wrong. They did exactly that. Now on top of that they told me that it most likely was under warranty and they wouldn't charge me a dime and I can take it to the dealership or if they can have them tow it over since it may not be safe to drive. Offered to pay for their time and they refused! This just isn't common and was very very cool! These guys are great and not your typical repair shop that's trying to squeeze every dime they can. Dishonest company. I had brand new ball joints put in my truck and therefore needed it aligned. Cobra sold me an alignment on Groupon where it says you need an appointment. I called to schedule one and they said they don't honor appointments and it was first come first serve. You leave your car and they try to get to it that day. When I got there to drop off my car, they asked why I needed an alignment. I told them I had new ball joints put in. They said they would not honor the Groupon because they didn't get to put in the ball joints. I repeated I only needed alignment and they refused to align my car using the Groupon but said they would do it for double the price on labor hours. No Groupon. I went to the Big O Tires across the street. Asked if they ever heard of such a thing. They said unfortunately they do. They get someone once a week from Cobra because Cobra sold them service and then refused to do it. No other alignment place in the valley refuses alignment because another dealership might have warrantied out a part or replaced a part. This place is a scam. Avoid at all cost. The guy at the front desk (I think his name was Jed) was super helpful and got my car in right away, even though they were super busy. Had a really bad experience here. Buyer beware if you buy a Groupon. Last weekend I bought a Groupon for a synthetic blend oil change here. I just moved to this area in the last year and had still been going to the place I love in Scottsdale for my oil changes. I figured it was time to find somewhere closer that I would trust. Saw this place on Groupon and decided to give it a shot! I called last weekend to see if they could get me in and they said that they had no openings for a week. I was surprised but I scheduled anyway and specifically told them I had a Groupon for a synthetic blend oil change. Anyway ff to today. I get there at the scheduled time and he takes all my info and goes to look at my car and then says sorry we actually can't do the synthetic blend for your car only a full synthetic. I was like ok well I have gotten a synthetic blend for my car many times so do you just not carry it or what?! He was super weird and vague. It was SO strange and said that I could pay $30 on top of the Groupon for a full synthetic which would make the total around $55. The fact that they did not carry the oil was fine but it is super super super bad business to get on the phone with someone and know they bought the Groupon, schedule then a full week out and not even make sure that they have the right oil for the car to honor the Groupon. It was very clear that they don't double check to have the chance to upsell. Well it didn't work. I wasted my morning and an entire week on this place. I ended up calling AZ automasters because I had set the morning aside to get my oil changed. Wht a difference. They were kind and super informative. They explained to me that dealerships and some oil change places do carry the synthetic blend oil for my car but a lot of places won't. Guess what!! They only carried the full synthetic for my car too BUT I decided to still go there. He threw me a coupon for being a first time customer happy I found a place that I felt good about giving my business. Now My husband and I will be customers there moving forward. Wife had been bringing her car here for last few years with no issues. Then back in early January with a trip across state lines planned I lined up an alignment on her new tires and an oil change/filter. They did the alignment, and the car pulled both to the left and right after just a slight pull to the right. They said bring it back in which I did, and for the most part, repaired it correctly the 2nd time. As we are making our trip, I went to turn on the wipers. Yep, you guessed it-they never filled it up. Yet, it was on the receipt as being topped off. So, finally got around to calling the manager who was pretty non-chalant about the whole ordeal. ***100 Honest truth be careful*** ***$1200 lie fixed for $175*** I bought a Groupon for an a/c evac and recharge figured mine as well get my brakes checked as well (free inspection). So my cars a/c was only blowing cold on the passengers side and normal temperature on the drivers side. I have done my research diligently and found what is 95% most likely the issue. I don't have dual a/c temperatures in my car (If so it could possibly be the blend door/actuator). I arrived and dropped my car off. Kurt told me that this could be the issue and I explained I don't have dual temps but to check it out anyway because he can't be sure. A few hours later I receive a call and Kurt tells me that it has something to do with the compressor and that it would require a new compressor it was kicking on but not working well that the Freon levels/pressure was good and it wasn't low on Freon and quoted me at $1200 and that the brakes were completely fine it was just dust and stuff from the Arizona weather. So I got my car and explained to him the research I had done and he changed the story saying that the inside of the compressor wasn't working and the gauges for the low and high side were all wacky. Tried to get me to sign up for this credit thingy and I declined this offer. ***THIS IS WHERE ITS UNETHICAL*** Having done my research, I figured I'll get a 2nd opinion because I think it's low Freon. I go to pep boys and get a free a/c check. Explained the issue and he says yeah it's low Freon right off the bat. That he will check it to make sure. After his check...The guy tells me my Freon is EMPTY!!! That there is no Freon/refrigerant in my vehicle and a small leak at the cap. (Where did it all go? Btw on my drive to pep boys the a/c wasn't cold on either side anymore) So I get the cap replaced, have the evac and recharge done and BOOM! ICE COLD A/C blowing out my vents...the only reason I'm giving this 2 stars is because Kurt decided he wasn't going to charge me and to get a refund on my Groupon... Very dissatisfied and will not recommend anyone here....I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even check my brakes...Wow... beware that's all. read more

Conveniently open on Saturdays and even when they are jammed packed with vehicles they work with you to get your jeep in if something is wrong! He got my vehicle fixed and on the road the same day. Cobra Tire not only finished my suspension/strut work in less time, but also with a much better price. Furthermore, when in California the mechanic informed me that I would not be able to solve my power steering leak. Cobra Tire gave me a fair and honest quote on a replacement Rack and Pinion and even informed me of a reasonable timeline in terms of mileage to get the work done. I like that they did not compound all the work that needed to be done with my vehicle and treat as "fix now or doom," but rather provided real guidance to resolve the issues with a proper estimation. He came out and told us our "ford focus' required special pads and we had to get ceramic pads, that it was required. I was told by the Mercedes dealership where I bought my vehicle that I needed new brakes and rotors. For 6 weeks in a row I made an appt for auto service and for 6 weeks in a row the repair shop called me an hour before my appt to explain (a) they were overworked & couldn't honor my appt (b) their alignment guy called in sick and they couldn't honor my appt. When I FINALLY got my car in for servicing they were not able to locate my tires locking lug for over 2.5 hours; they were told during 2 separate phone calls that it was in the glovebox. They still couldn't find it. Then they wanted to charge me over $2k for repair work when I was in for an alignment appt that was pre-paid; they were also trying to double charge me for the alignment. I do deliveries for Amazon and need to make sure my car is always running clean, safe and smooth. I never feel like I'm getting bs'd into any services I don't need and they are understandable if I want to do some stuff on my own and even give me recommendations. He then asked for a mailing address which for security I typically don't give out to people I am giving keys to. He then asked for my mobile carriers name. When I asked why he needed that and he said the computer needs it to keep me updated on my car. He already had my texting and email information so when I declined he got all upset waving his arms and saying he didn't need to deal with these issues so early in the morning. BEWARE!!! A couple of Saturday's ago , ( the 26th ) I dropped off my car at  " COBRA TIRE AND AUTO " a NAPA location in Gilbert Arizona. My power steering and water pump were leaking. I purchased my own water pump and asked if they would install it. The manager ( Steve ) said they're really not supposed to but he would do it in my case but with no warranty . I said that's fine , the car has almost 200,00 miles on it so I don't care. He said it would be a few days and I said that was fine. A few days later I got a voicemail from him apologizing for the delay. He said a man called in and another man got hurt. This was Thursday. I stopped in after work on Thursday to check on the progress. Steve stated the cost would be $477.00. He said he would call when it was ready. The next day ( Friday) I got a text saying the car was ready to be picked up. I went Saturday morning ( so 1 week later) to get it and Steve said he needed just another hour for it to be done . I showed him the text. He said he didn't know who would have sent it. He said come back in a couple hours and it would be ready. I came back maybe 2 1/2 hours later and was told that Steve was out and my car was apart ! A man said he didn't know who was working on my car and they were waiting for instructions on why it was there ! At some point I was also told by Steve that it wasn't the power steering leaking, it was the rack and pinion. ( The leak is a foot and a half away) I said What about my water pump ? He shrugged his shoulders and looked at the other guys. I asked what HAS been done ? NOTHING !!! It sat for a week and a few hours with nothing being fixed yet he had quoted me $477.00.  The water pump was still in the box sitting on the seat. If you're head is spinning after reading this , try being me at the shop ! I was just about speechless and left. The man that broke the news to me was tall and thin and very nice. I could see he was at a loss and apologized all over the place. They were closing soon and I didn't want to wait and see if Steve would even show up . There was nothing for him to say anyway. There was a time I would've given this company a 5 star, but at this point, I give it a one star for a number of reasons. 1. When Jack owned this business, I thought the mechanics were good and the pricing was reasonable and fair. Since Jack sold his business probably 4-5 yrs ago, it's really been awful. They fired eventually over a period of a year or so, all the mechanics that have worked for Jack for years. 2. Prices went up and quality of work went down. Prices were no longer competitive and the labor rates went up, as well. Parts were marked up more. 3. No longer did I get the personal service I saw before, which was having the same mechanic work on my car that always did, because they fired him for having a bad attitude (I think this meant that he was fair to customers, which equated to not making more money for the company). Every old mechanic Jack used to have was let go or fired for some lame reason. A shame, because they were really good guys and had a wealth of knowledge. I feel like I'm in a used car lot and the guys don't really know what the issue is and they're just guessing and while they guess, I get charged or have to pay for this. No thank you. At least the last time I went to them, their labor rates were just about $100 and that is around what other places charge and doesn't make them any more special than going to another place where they could care less about me, too. Anyway, I was able to find a really great mechanic that does really quality work, charges about half of what they charge, and doesn't try to sell me things I don't need. I now have a truly honest mechanic and it's great. When Jack sold this Napa, he really did a disservice for his customers. I along others have stopped coming to this place because it's no longer reasonably priced, the quality of work isn't great, they don't really care, and I find no value in this place any longer. read more

Very dis-honest and misleading shop, definitely avoid at all cost unless you want to spend way more than necessary to get your car going. After getting a AC problem looked at my usual mechanic out in Queen Creek I came to this shop to get a second opinion on price. My normal mechanic diagnosed my cars problem as a leaky condenser, not terribly expensive repair. Well this shop informed me in no uncertain terms that my entire AC system needed to be replaced. And wanted to do close to $2000 worth of work. I went back to my normal mechanic had them do the simple fix for 585.00 and the AC is working great. read more
