The design of the library as well as the decor and atmosphere made it feel much less like a department store styled bookstore, and like a public library. Fashion, Design, Interiors, Fiction, Non-Fiction, Travel, History, Geography, Classic Literature, Photography and one off calendars (and more!). It was a walk down memory lane, they have all the MR.MEN and LITTLE MISS books! at £1 each, and this is the other great thing about this bookstore, the prices. For those of you who know TASCHEN publications you must also know that they tend to be a bit pricey, here you can find a full range of ART NOW editions at 2 for £10 and 100 all-time favourite movies (2 volumes) for £30. Unexpected books are a must in this shop for instance, The book of Butts, or a book that gives you a project to do everyday. As you go deeper into the shop it can get more disorganized, but I guess this why the children's section is at the back.

Thankfully, there are not many of those underground dwellers about, and I am certainly not one of them - but I do find myself often waiting for my friends to turn up on later trains here at Old Street tube, and instead of saying "I will meet you outside the cold, wet tube station', why not spend some time in this book shop instead? Camden Lock Books is small, but simply stacked with books. They specialise in new books which are in print, but will gladly track down any older books on request. While the books were mainly all full price, there was a stand with many books on offer. Some had dropped from £7.99 to £2.99. They don't mind browsers, which was clearly what I was. I found Newspaper Bags on sale here- these are the bags made out of newspapers by Indian street children. They cost 50p and the money goes straight back to the charity. I brought a few, and I encourage you all to do the same!

I love bookshops but generally try to avoid them at all costs because I love new books (so smooth! so crisp!) so much I always end up spending way too much money and accumulating more books that I have nowhere to keep. But I figured - £2.99 means it's basically 1993 so these practical concerns cannot be an issue. Of course, I ended up buying a full price book, but by then I had totally justified this to myself as supporting a local business, literature in general and obviously just Saving The World. It's not a very big shop but managed to stock 3 titles (Handmaid's Tale, Wolf Hall and Cloud Atlas) which despite their popularity I have recently not been able to find in such places as a giant Barnes and Noble in Philadelphia. I also heard the owner telling a customer he could order a book in for him. But you really would never be stuck for choice here, it's a great selection and really fun to browse. Close to the entrance gates of Osterley Park is this wonderful and eccentric little second-hand…read morebookshop. The shop's tagline, the shop that has fans, not customers seems very appropriate: the interior is cramped and chaotic, and many of the shelves are lined two-deep with books, making this a place to rummage rather than browse. But that's part of the charm, and also makes it possible to find the odd bargain, hidden away (as I did). They also sell an extensive line of reasonably-priced greetings cards, a selection of small antiques - and their own honey. Eclectic indeed. The staff are helpful in a nice, laid-back sort of way. Eagled-eyed visitors will spot of the unusual design of the building: from 1884 until 1934 this was 'Osterley Park and Spring Grove' station on the District Line, until replaced by the present Osterley station, half a mile away. The bricked-up access to the footbridge can be seen at the back of the shop, and the platforms are still in place.

Conveniently located only a short walk from Soho as well as Leicester Square tube, Any Amount of Books is a safe haven to escape to from the busy streets of central London. Warm, cozy shop. Staff were friendly and let me stash my bags behind the counter while I perused. I found a book for 4 GBP with MSRP 10 GBP. Didn't seem like the best deal, but it was in good shape so I paid and headed off to Heathrow. When I got home, I spot checked the price and it was actually really competitive. Also, the book was from Dec 2014 and my visit in Jan 2015. My point being you can also get really recent stuff here too, not just the antique stuff mentioned in the other reviews!

Bellenden Road is a very nice street and it wasn't a big surprise that it housed a lovely bookshop, though as I browsed through stacks of interesting tomes and cooed over the cute gifts they had on sale for Christmas I did wish I'd discovered it sooner. Thinking about it later I realised I hadn't been in a real bookshop for years, preferring online shopping or a look through the shelves of the local charity shop to the sorry trudge around the book supermarkets we're surrounded by these days. I wasn't even sure small bookshops still did good enough business to pay the rent so it was especially nice to find out that Review is alive and kicking, complete with canine companion. Sadly I missed out on meeting the famous pooch as he'd gone home for his tea but hopefully next time
