A few things to note though. First. the wifi on the ferry didn't really work. It was a fiver an hour and it cut off constantly and was basically unusable. Also, this ferry is smaller than some of the other ones you can get so if you hit rough seas you will feel it sure, but it didn't bother me that much. Another thing is the food, although very good, was very expensive. All meals were. €11.90 and on a 16 hour ferry you will need to eat. That being said they are much like the Ryanair of ferries. You get the basic transportation for very little, but if you opt for things like food and cabins you will pay dear for them. I still give them four stars because the service is brilliant, the staff is great, and they get you there fast, on time for half the price of some of the competitors.

Because of the new law regarding pet transport, we took the ferry out of necessity and not for a holiday. One out of every 10 staff members are nice, the rest are blatantly rude and clearly tortured by their job and the idea of customer service. The ferry was late departing, and 3 hours late arriving, which meant we missed our connecting train to Dublin. The staff on board basically said "we're not responsible" and gave us a number for the office in the harbor. Thankfully the staff in the harbor were very helpful and made some calls on our behalf to help us get on the next train with our same tickets. We were very grateful for their help and just wished the staff on board the actual ship had the same standards of customer service. If you choose the reserved seats be prepared to hold on to your belongings while you sleep or pay 5+ euros for a locker. If you choose a locker be aware that you will have to pay the fee again, in full, any time you need to get into it, so it adds up quickly if you forget something you need. The seats don't recline more than an airline seat so you won't actually be getting any sleep, but you get what you pay for. If you plan on bringing your dog on the overnight ferry, you're in for a very uncomfortable and somewhat scarring experience. You will only be able to visit your dog during 3 designated times during the crossing, and you'll be lucky to get 15 minutes during each visit. If the kennels are full, be prepared to wait up to an extra hour while groups of 6 or 7 are escorted at a time. When you do get your chance, you will be rushed by a bored and annoyed member of the staff. I imagined being able to walk our dog on the deck during this time, to stretch his legs and have him do his business (considering the 18+ hour journey), but what you'll get is a very, very narrow path between lines of cars on the car deck, and a 2 foot patch of sawdust that no dog knows what to do with. You're told not to walk between the cars but the alternative is walking back and forth on a 20 foot stretch (two feet wide) with half a dozen other dogs and their owners which is literally impossible. Most dogs in the kennel are upset and barking constantly which makes it very stressful for calmer dogs, who will then not eat or even use the bathroom during the whole journey, like ours. Clearly they converted a tiny broom closet to pack full of kennels to get some extra cash, without making any other accommodations to actually cater to dogs on such a long journey. We would not put our dog through that again. If you're a foot passenger you'll be the last one on, and the last one off. You'll have to wait while everyone else exits the ship and collects their dog. Everyone is forced to take several flights of stairs during disembarking because they try to control the crazy flow of people by closing off the elevators. This meant lots of Seniors and families with babies had to go down the stairs with heavy luggage, a scary and unsafe system. Very disappointed overall and would not use this service again, with or without a dog.

Travel at lunchtime - and make sure you have your own driver so you can drink the free wine. Ok it may be a bit of a trek to get to the 'smoking' zone - which is out side but if the weather is good you can enjoy the fresh air while filing your lungs with smoke! I call that a happy medium! Will I use them again? - for sure when I head back home to Dublin.

Large enough not to feel too cramped, with in room bathrooms. There is not an elevator. I required assistance getting my suitcase up the stairs. They have a very nice dining room. A separate bar area, and a room to the side for private parties. The food is very good, with huge servings. The staff is friendly and very helpful. There are bus stops right outside the hotel, making it easier to use public transportation. A taxi from Wexford city to the hotel runs about 13 pounds. I would stay here again .

Loftus House or Hall is a beautiful mansion located on the Hook peninsula in Ireland. The current…read moreMansion as I recently visited it, was built about the year 1350, and the prior castle stucture was built about the year 1170. The story goes, that the current mansion is haunted by the Devil and the ghost of a young woman named Anne Tottenham. Outside of being supposedly haunted, the Loftus Hall also has a very colorful history as it was attacked by the English during the Irish Confederate war in 1642. It was first attacked by Captain Thomas Aston serving King Charles the 1st of England. The mansion as it was defended by Irish loyalist is quite amazing. At Loftus Hall today, you can take a tour of the house and learn about its amazing and sometimes dark history. The house architecturally is beautiful! The custom floors that were hand cut and laid by Italian Masons is just breath taking! I will add, that the Italian Masons had their hands cut off by an English Lord at the time of floor completion so the floor could not be replicated (Creepy). The master entry staircase in Loftus Mansion (hand carved wood) is one of only three that were made by the original wood master craftsman. The other two staircases, one is located on the Titanic at the bottom of the ocean, and the 3rd located at present in the Vatican City. The tour is amazing, creepy, and fun! They have a wonderful little cafe and coffee shop where you can sit and enjoy a cup of tea, and the location of the Mansion is just beautiful. The Loftus Hall is also not far from the Hook Light House (One of the oldest light houses in the world built in the year 1172). Standing in front of the Loftus Mansion on the Hook Peninsula, looking out over the bay towards St. Georges Channel, is very mystical. If I could, I'd have a little getaway Irish cottage here it is so beautiful. I definitely recommend you visit Loftus Mansion and the area overall. You will not be let down by the history, and the beauty of the environment.
