I went into the winner street store today (Fri June 4th) I was waiting in the check out q and a man of between 60 and 70 years spoke to me and said quite loudly "do you know what I have just seen? Obviously I answered no. He proceeded to tell to me in graphic detail and in and offensive way " i have just seen a picture of Russell Brand with his p***k up another mans a**e. I did not know this man and have never seen him before, I told him I thought he was disgusting and found him very offensive and to stop talking to me and to go away or I would call the manager, he carried on talking to me and I turned my back on him and called an assistant to call the manager and she went to fetch him, I was going to put my goods down and walk out, but felt he probably would have acheived want he wanted by doing this and carried on to be served and at the end of the transaction asked once again for the manager, he didn't arrive so i hurried out of the store so the man could not confront me again. I was extremely upset by this and do not feel I was over reacting. Once home I phoned the store and asked to speak to the manager and spoke to the assistant manager and told her what happened , she was aware of the incident and passed me over to the manager who told me he had looked at the cctv footage but the man was not known to him, he told me he had spoken to the man who denied saying these things to me. Although the manager did follow the complaint through even though I had gone all he could say was he was very sorry it had happened, I felt he could have asked my name and taken my telephone number, I told him my name and said I was considering informing the police and I would not be returning to the store in the future, and that was the end of the conversation! I am not a prude I am 56 years old and used to go in to the store three or four times a week as I live near by and I work for sainsburys. What do you think, was I over reacting? read more
