I got stranded about 30 miles out of Newberry. I live about 6-7 hours away and I was on my way home…read morefrom camping. The tow truck driver (from 30 miles away in Engadine) suggested Rahilly Ford, saying they are good and quick. Yes they are. It was late in the day but they took my van right in and started trying to find what was wrong. At closing time it looked like it was going to be the computer, which is no longer made by Ford. They would check the nationwide network and if that failed they would send the part out for rebuild. It might take a week. I was going to have to rent a car to get home and come back in a week to pick up my truck. Tom drove me and my 2 friends around town so we could find a motel. He gave me his card with his home and office numbers on it and told me to call if I needed anything. The next day I found out that there was not a rental car company that would do a one-way rental (even at the Soo airport) . I called Rahilly's and they said they would rent me an SUV(we had camping gear, etc) for about half of what everyone else wanted, plus he would let me keep it until the van was done and I could drive it back when I picked up the van, and they would waive the mileage. I said, yes, please! About an hour later, Tom called me and said I might want to hold out on renting a car because the mechanic thought he had figured out what was wrong, so if I just gave them an hour or so, I might not need to rent a car at all. Sure enough, Peter found some wires leading to my gas tank that had been chewed by an animal, which apparently is not uncommon up in the UP :-) Not only did they make me a priority but they wouldn't rent me a car until they were sure I needed it, AND they gave me a break on the bill, and the parts were cheap. :-) a class act all the way around. It is under warranty from the work they did and they are refusing to work on it claiming it is my fault somehow. I have had the truck back in twice trying to give them the chance to resolve the issue which they clearly are incapable of and instead of outsourcing or being honest they'd rather point the finger at the guy who simply paid a bill. Customer service from the owner down to front desk is appalling. Worst experience ever!!

The Main St guys know what they're doing and the prices are fair. The shop is always busy with many cars in the lot waiting for service. They are great in person but communication isn't their strength, we typically need to stop back to learn status of a repair. Still, it's super convenient to have a repair shop in Mackinaw City.

They gave me a fair estimate for parts and labor, and they also pulled the dents out of my car so I could open my door free of charge. They did an exceptional job repairing my vehicle and it looks brand new. Additionally, my car was messy when I dropped it off to them and when I got my car back, my car was immaculately clean! Wiped down the interior, vacuumed all the crud from my carpets, and cleaned my windows. They are an obvious choice for excellent service.

I called Skip's and spoke to Heidi, and she said they were very busy but would do their best to get us on the road. After Charlie towed us to Skips (and as a former mechanic was able to lead us to the alternator), Skips worked it in, managed to find an alternator for a 2011 Honda and fixed it so that we got back on the road by 5:30. I was considering what kind of disaster we were headed for but Skips saved us a lot of trouble so we could continue on our trip. I would use them all the time if they were in my hometown.

Pulled in, explained our issues, had a spare and needed it changed. They had other work, but two of their guys immediately came out, accessed the job and went right to work switching tires, tough job on a sprinter. 45 minutes later at a very fair price, we were on our way.
