The Clydebuilt Scottish Maritime Museum literally tells the story of the history of the River Clyde from it's beginnings to it's heights as one of, if not the top, ship building rivers in the world. Unlike many museums though this one carefully guides you through from the moment you enter the building to the moment you leave via the gift shop.
My own young children loved it here, not least of all for the excellent interactive exhibits showing how the river lends it's self to ship building, to how ships engines work and how ships are built. The museum guides you through how ships were and are built along a series of walkways which wind there way through exhibits which are lit and sounded to give you the effect of being there whilst it's not entirely successful on that final count it's certainly entertaining and educational.
Definitely one I'd recommend if you have a spare hour or two and some bored kids on your hands. read more
